Should I start with Guilty Gear X for Dreamcast or maybe one of the more recent titles (GGXX: Accent Core Plus). It’s far from the Street Fighter norm but it wouldn’t hurt to expand my horizons Thing is I only have Dreamcast and Wii (is GGXX #Reload backwards compatible with Xbox 360?)
Plus the characters and story seem pretty wacky and cool from what I checked out so far…thanks in advance
the most recent title; GGXXAC is available for the wii, if you have a ps2 pad/stick, you can get the converter for the wii.
As for earlier titles you can get those off the web(for PC) for “cheap”(if you know what i mean)
So far I have Guilty Gear X for Dreamcast and just downloaded XX #Reload off the XBLA marketplace a few days ago. They are both really fun but I still don’t fully understand some of the mechanics yet
I can’t seem to find Accent Core Plus for the Wii, but I can find Accent Core for cheap. So I settle for that or keep looking for AC+? Any major differences between them?
No difference in gameplay from ac to ac+, in ac+ you get extra unlock-ables like artwork and the 2 ban characters; cliff and justice. GG is one of those games where you really can’t learn an older game to learn a newer one. This is a basic guide and this is everything else you should know as well. When you find your main(s) character of interest there are the specific sub-forums for each, though GG discussion is basically dead, someone will answer your questions and if not just PM a mod of said sub-forum.
I can answer basic gameplay questions but not any character specifics (unless it’s sol-badguy). GG is actually a very balanced game, just as an example at my local gatherings 2 of our best players who constantly place high play “the worst characters in the game” tier wise(bridget and johnny). This is really a great game to get into if you like good games, spread the word, this game needs more support so we can at least get it ported to XBLA and/or PSN, because who knows how long ishiwatari will take to finish(or even start) “the upcoming project.”
Yeah, def pick up AC. The game adds enough to both the characters and the system where it’ll feel pretty new with #Reload. Just don’t play with waggle controls!
Thanks Squared. I should check this area of the forum more…
And if you don’t have a scene, make one…bring a ps2+game+pads/sticks(if you have) to local gatherings, just be all “hey local fgc wanna play a good game?” Then if that goes well, “$1 winner take all side tourney anyone?”
so…just got AC yesterday, started playing it today
…I thought I got the hang of things but now I’m kind of lost
-What exactly is Input Easy for? It says in the instruction manual that it makes it easier to input commands but I’m not seeing a huge difference (probably since I’m mashing half of the time)
-Same with FRC Easy-- forget about Force Roman Cancels, I’m trying to get down regular Roman Cancels with consistency. It appears that FRC Easy allows to set the input timing of FRCs to 5/10/15/20 frames. Haven’t messed with that setting but maybe I could use it for practice or something?
From what I recall, easy FRC is an AC+ feature which does as you said, raises the amount of time you have to FRC. It’s pretty much to try to ease you into the actual FRCs of the game.
Easy input was a feature made to compensate for the PSP 1000’s horrible D-Pad. What it does is eliminates the need to input diagonals for special move motions. For example, Gunflame’s input changes from 236P to 26P.
Oh thanks. I was wondering why they have it in the Wii version…
Is it just me or do the controls and combo timing seem a bit tighter than in #Reload? Maybe it’s me; trying to get used to playing with the Gamecube controller after playing #Reload on the Xbox 360 with the standard X360 controller. I have a couple of sticks but I only use them for playing KOF Collection and TvC…I’m not very confident using the arcade stick
Sorry for bugging you guys with all these stupid questions…it’s just that I’ve heard that Guilty Gear is a really technical fighting game (just from a glance of the manual I’m like “wtf”) and can be particularly demanding in skill and execution for even the basics. I barely understand Street Fighter IV; Guilty Gear may be beyond my grasp…
Funny thing is, I have a better handling of the basics of GG than the basics of SFIV even though I just picked up AC. I’ve had SSFIV: AE for over 4 months and I still have trouble with links (because fuck 1-frame links)
GGAC is full of 1 frame links, sorry to disappoint you :P.
FRC are godlike they can make specials safe and allow for mixups so pick a character and learn the timings for their strong FRC’s. GG feels easier than SF probably because chains are much easier and so is hit confirming. It’s a lot deeper than SF, but that’s the beauty of SF. It’s quick to pickup but difficult to master. GG is kinda difficult to pickup and master and it doesn’t help that there isn’t a big scene for it anymore (Arksys is dumb for not releasing an Online play mode of GGXXAC for PS3/360).
Kai is pretty easy to use, you should start with him.
