I’m with you on this one guys. I don’t have anything to record so I can’t really get the foortage I need. And i want it to be good quality too, so i won’t use my camcorder to record the “tv”, cause that’s not good quality. If i did, i’d be contributing a heck lot of stuff (especially for low tiers). the editing is easy, it’s just the footage thats lacking. damn, i wish i could record stuff.
A lot of people play just to win, and don’t do fancy-stuff too often. I see kinanO’s point of view. I think he’s just saying that all the stuff people do nowadays/in tournament play, are basics. (in reality, it’s really intermediate-expert-stragedies and how they play). We see that so often in vids/real life/tournaments that it becomes boring for some of us (aka basic for some of us). Not me though, just sometimes it is… it gets a bit repetitive if you know what i mean. stuff like the all-so-common resets, air combos, guardbreaks, assist launch-till-death snapback infinite, etc. What will make a match more interesting, is pulling off uncommon flashy stuff.
I’m talking about the very unique, extremely creative, some basic, advance (slightly), and very-advance stuff here…

Assist-combos… it’s the future (or has been for awhile). Also one of the main major reasons for flashyness. Assists really do help to extend combos or make things really flashy & fancy. (ruby heart’s capture assist, thano’s capture assist, sent drones, spiral’s swords, storm’s proj, magneto’s proj, etc)

Assist-snapback-infinites aka Assist-Juggaling - yep these are common. Well atleast the launch, launch, launch till death ones. Done by storm, magneto most of the time. (mag’s launch, lp, lk, lp, lk, add, lk, pause, lk, launch is another flashy assist-juggle as you may have seen). I had a thread on gamefaqs a long while ago, asking everybody to help me experiment with assist-juggles. Not only for top tiers, but for low tiers also (how exciting). Trust me, doing this in a match will just WOW the crowd since they don’t see it coming, and dont think it’s possible. Examples :
*Ironman - in the corner only… [HK, fly, unfly immediatly] Repeat. You have to be extremely fast in button-pressing. Timing is somewhat strict meaning if you miss it by a tiny bit… the assist escapes.
Cammy - in the corner only… [any launch, SJ, lp, lk, lp, lk, downback lk (the move where she kicks downwards, launch] Repeat. Her launch, launch launch till death is too slow and is impossible. So after experimenting with her, i came up with that juggle*
now, some characters are impossible to juggle without an assist. like cable (well he might have something with the scimitar bounching them so high up, he can do another one over n over). Assist-juggagling-with-your-own-assists is when it gets REALLY flashy. A good example of this (might sound confusing) is this match…
at 00.47 seconds. It’s anarkis doing a assist-juggle using sonson as his assist. As you can tell, the crowd goes wild, cause they don’t expect it and it’s definitely extremely rare cause nobody does it. anarkis alone can’t juggle an assist, but with the help of an assist, he can. Ruby heart can’t do her blue-flame over n over on a assist, cause it’s not fast enough… but with a AAA (son son, cyclops, etc), she can…
So to summarize it a bit up, here are some good ideas for vids
- Assist combos (bunch of vids have this, but having more new ones wont hurt)
- Throws-into-assist-combos
- Assist-snapback-infinites aka Assist-Juggaling. not the launch till death ones though, other techniques. And for characteres besides mag/storm unless they have other unique ones besides launch-till-death. Mag has a lot actually
- Invincible-fast-specials… didnt mention this but a vid explaining what has invincibility startup and what will beat out other specials would be a really good video. Example : cammy’s KBA goes through doom’s photon air special… ruby heart’s fireball special ges through mag’s shockwave… etc.
Those are just a few things i can think of, off the top of my head that would make really interesting combo videos. I would say a good 20-30% of the people out there (experts including) pull off fancy stuff. It makes the game a lot more exciting, and fun to watch. Different from in a good way. Nowadays, whenever i pull off assist-combos, dealing with thano’s capture/rubyheart’s capture… people give a big *"damn, What the ***, how’d you do that, or what just happened?". (basic kinda for some, but still). OR cammy’s launch+spiral assist, lp, lk, lp, drill… and they LAND on spiral’s swords, launch, double-jump air combo, drill, xx KBA… now this one REALLY WOWS people …Cause very often, they think the combo is going to end… but it extends. i love hearing their reactions, heh. It’s not too hard to pull off in a match, but it’s pratical, and possible. If i think of any other cool ideas, ill let you guys know :smokin:

HELL YEAH. now thats what you call a damn good combo video. it really does show her potential, what she can do, what she’s capable of, etc. I started playing Rubyheart-base teams a lot more often because of that video! for those who haven’t seen it, check it out @

Ah, well the Mike Z/joo types are much more rare. Recently, the coolest thing I’ve seen in terms of more “untraditional” Marvel 2 vids would be the stuff from these guys:

I think a video series showcasing strange/fun/interesting/unorthodox teams would be neat. The “How to Play Team Z” series comes to mind. Just something cool to remind people that 40 or so other characters actually exist.

I don’t really make vids, other than [media=youtube]BK5tNCRAO_E[/media] I’ve YouTubed, though there’s a couple projects I’d like to do if I can ever get the time.
What I’m working on now are just a bunch of assist combos, mainly because I fell in love with Flying Screen OTGs with assists at some point, and it gives interesting combos to some characters. First vid will be mostly Storm-A as the assist, but hopefully I can do at least 2 more vids.

A lot of interrupting Flying Screen with assists, which means even if those assists OTG, those OTGs become unrollable (assists OTG in the Strider combo, but juggle in the CapAm combo).
I use a trick assist or two (Ryu-G is in the last combo and does the buff damage that other shotos’ hurricane kicks only do in the air, though I should have used crouching Strong instead of the standing one in that combo since that version works on crouching characters), but it’s all pretty simple stuff.
How would I get a Dreamcast program pad? I’ve been itching to get my hands on one for some time.
When I get my Dreamcast fixed, and get a custom arcade stick, that would be optimal for me.
I’m tempted to make a combo video, but because I don’t have the equipment to do it, have never done it before, and the fact that I’d have to have it be for characters other than Blackheart or Hulk, these are all good reasons for me to not do it.
The standards are so high for combo videos and video tutorials today, that anyone trying to do one would be hard pressed to make a good one. SRK is no place to put a video that’s substandard.
Getting all that equipment and knowledge together on how to do it might in and of itself be enough to change my mind about making a video though.
Keep it going. Even if I don’t, someone else will, and innovation is essential. Especially now that people have forgotten what non-top tiers can do.

This reminds me of my FS one into hk, into them landing on drones, which results in me tagging out, or JD super, into a kill DHC and…
=CapAm
This is essentially a kill off 2 levels. Even if you survive that, there is the risk of a DHC into a third guy’s super after you’ve already lost at least 95% of your health. You’re dead.
People sometimes forget that even simple stuff can be entertaining and even potentially useful. Examples:
=Hulk Airthrows a character with Cable stamina that fails to roll or tech hit it.
-Call Storm-y, roundhouse[otg], hard gamma charge, pause, gamma crush, hold back, dead character, DHC to Storm [Whether or not they’ll survive the Gamma Crush, Cable from full health won’t]and run away.
-Flying hk, Call BH, gamma charge, slight pause, gamma crush, hold forwards, dead character
You block something real close to a Hulk player that Hulk can gamma charge safely.
-he calls BH and gamma charges you, Cancels to a gamma crush, and your character is dead. Outright.
That is definitely NOT what magnetro is looking for. Sorry to burst you’re bubble.

I know so many glitches to this game, you don’t even know where I’ll stop. The other day I grabbed magneto out of his Rock Blast Super. I got OHhhs And AHhs from all over the place.
Because I AM a beast like that.
