I don’t believe he has dash cancels, at least from what I’ve seen.
I don’t believe he does, either. If anything, I think his little hop “dash” works more like Hulk’s. You can use it to get a little more distance if you Jump-Cancel Dash (which helps with air:s:), but no normal cancellation.
Shouldn’t be that much of a problem, since it’s relatively quick.
I don’t know if they kept it in, but I’m positive Ghost Rider can wavedash, I saw it in one of Maximillian’s UMvC3 gameplay breakdown videos, I tried looking for it but there’s just too much to go through. If he can cancel his dashes into a crouch, maybe there’s hope that he can cancel his dash with a normal?
But if both of you feel like he can’t, I guess I won’t keep my hopes up
Anyone have any questions we need answered? Max is doing another Q&A vid for Firebrand and GR.
I hate to speculate before we get our hands on the actual game but what do you think Ghost Rider could do to stop Phoenix Wright from collecting evidence with that Maya shield out? I don’t think j.S would go past it and Wright can spend all his time in the back just getting all he needs. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Also, Champ said during Ultimate Norcal that Ghost Rider had trouble against Hidden Missiles since they lock him down far enough away, keeping him from getting into the distance where his chains can hit and combo. Take that however you will I guess.
^Well I know from experience that doom plasma beam assist beats an opponents hidden missile assist. It comes out way faster than missiles. It looks like GR is gonna have problems with missiles if hes alone, just make sure you find an assist that counters missiles.
I wonder what doom assist will be better for Ghost though, beam or missiles? I think I’ll just stick to Plasma beam as its the best all around assist. Does good chip, comes out fast, very safe and good for extending combos.
Either way, I keep thinking Ghost Rider and Doom combo is gonna be rage inducing.
Hidden Missiles with GR sounds godlike. Too bad I despise Doom’s playstyle or I’d be running that team in a heartbeat
For now I’m thinking GR/Spencer/Nova though I need to see how good Nova’s barrier assist really is and if he’s as good as anchor as he sounds
I’d like to have the SOV commands clarified. Both and :s: for the bike jump seems strange because the Wheelie followup is nowhere to be found.
The [S]wave[/S] waddledashes you are referring to are @ 5:59 and 8:40 respectively.
I’ll try canceling a dash into normal tomorrow, but Ghost could wreck house even without it IMO.
Thanks very much for finding that video! I don’t think there are any characters in vanilla MvC3 that can wavedash but can’t cancel their dash into a normal. Hopefully this stays in the final build.
Also could you please test if Ghost Rider can combo after his ground throws? That would make his mix up game a little more dangerous.
so Im guessing Heartless Spire has completely overshadowed GR other assist.
It’s not like his others aren’t useful, but Hellfire is pointless to use when Heartless Spire OTGs as well and eats projectiles. His wall bounce assist (Chain Rebuttal) actually comes out pretty fast, yet it doesn’t seem as beastly as HS is.
I think that Hellfire is a projectile, but I don’t think it comes out even if GR is hit.
SOV H version is it possible to combo after the wall bounce?
Ahh yes… I was supposed to test that today…
Buuuuut, I did test the effectiveness of Viewtiful Joe’s Shocking Pink assist with Ghost’s chains!! :h: propels the bombs from fullscreen as nicely as you think it would. Mix up your high/lows and it will definitely make players feel scared to push a button.
That’s…genius.
Maybe if you X Factor.
Sure, however he jumps off the bike while there still in the air/Zaratho pretty much meets them in the air, if I had to guess I would say it looks like you can without the use of air X Factor.
Wish I thought of this and asked CSsword123 to test.
It’s all good! Care to give us some overall gameplay impressions? How did you fare? What did you do to combat super jumpers/control vertical space?
[excuses]I ended up getting one match in, so I can’t say much. It also happened to be against my friend who I’ve haven’t seen in awhile until he found me standing in line.[/excuses]
Ghost’s wavedash really serves it’s purpose if you are trying to land his level 3. I used his :h:, :h: most of the time to control space, and even punished a whiffed move from nemesis with level 2 XFC from fullscreen. Once I felt that my buddy wasn’t going to get caught by it, switching to cr. :h: was the easiest thing in the world. Even though I would respect players who have GR as anchor, you are really missing out if you aren’t practicing him with some good assists every now and then.
