I’ll never understand riots. It’s not a proper way to go about revolution. Only the innocent get hurt, and protecting the innocent is why revolutions are fought.

Britain is experiencing what all societies experience when they hand over responsibility for their lives to the government. Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece. Every police-welfare state crumbles to the ground. If something isn’t done soon, America will follow suit.

I have to admit I’m amused by it all, but would not want to be anywhere near that shit. When I was a youth I was always down with some good trouble, but nothing ever jumped off like that.

A) Brits are not lazy or think menial jobs are under them, it’s just as a company who you gonna employ? the eastern european who you can order about treat like crap and (this is where the whole problem is) pay peanuts to, or the english person who sticks up for them self so potentially giving them a headache
B)As a run of the mill english person what does it make more sense to do? go earn 6 pound an our slaving your guts out probably with no chance of being promoted or stay on state benefits? Because by the time you pay your tax your travel your food what you gonna be left with? we’ve made it so it’s not in your best interest to work
This whole problem stems from terrible wages and terrible working conditions.
Before you say anything i’ve been on the dole for 3 years worked the last 10 and still working so i’ve not got a biased opinion, but really company’s really need to have a look at them selfs on the wages they pay and the way they treat people.

Thats what they say and its complete BS. Why would they only start deploying 10’000 extra police officers when everyone knows the rioting’s pretty much over. its just a threat that wont be put into practice. They dont have the resources or man power to do half the things they say.
People being robbed in the street is an everyday occurrence in London. I don’t even think that youtube footage of the guy being helped up and robbed at the same time is even really part of the rioting. Where there are a number of idiots in one place people are bound to be hurt and robbed. Thats just science.
I’m really surprised that there were no water cannons put into play. I remember watching the news as a kid when it seemed like there was some kind of riot going on every other day in London, the first thing I would see were those huge water cannons blasting fools in the street, it was almost iconic. Then it was followed by the riot squad cracking some hooligan heads.
Maybe Britain really has gone soft.
a problem with the welfare mentality also is that it’s actually sort of a trap. once you’re receiving benefits at a low income, increasing your income will actually lead to a net loss in household living standard, as you lose your benefits but don’t have enough income to cover the loss
America is not that bad yet but it’s heading there.
by the way, if I remember correctly… something similar happened in Rome. or was it Greece…? anyway, slaves were taking all the jobs and the people of Rome were all starving to death and nobody gave a shit
nope, people have gotten harder. Its summer time, most people will be more than happy to be blasted with water. If the riot police had attacked any of the rioters in london they would have had their asses kicked. they were clearly outnumbered at least 20 to 1.
Secondly, the police in the UK are just as, if not more corrupt than american cops and I know this from personal experience. We now know that the incident that sparked these riot was a police cover up, just like the Ian Tomlinson and Jean Charles de Menezes cases.
I’m still trying to figure out how shit went down so fast. I remember this was on the news before the UFC fights started on Saturday, and next thing we know it’s all out.
Guess Londoners know how to riot; and we thought Vancouver was bad…o_O
