London Thread 2012

Mannnn fuck LoL. so maybe

Honestly the underdog gives lesser players hope. I.E. ChaChaman and rebello are not in the underdog, and i lost to both of them. So if it is false hope i guess im falling for it? I think its a great idea. There is also is the fear facter sorta thing for people who go to a tourny for the first time, they come here they play they come back. Then the scene grows. Maybe im not understandy something here but i dont know how this couldnt be a good thing, also is anyone going? Lol.

Mihai they reset at like 430am on Tuesdays, if you check Mobafire later today around 5 though you can see who they’ll be early tho.

Cool that’s what I was lookin for, thx

Also, I saw some talk of this, but didn’t realize it was open to all!

My eyes are gonna explode from D3/LoL…on Saturday, I literally played the whole day. I think like around 16 hours straight with a few breaks for eating.

In one week I will be back to take the rains of the SF scene again and I will be there to explain it to you in person. People don`t need hope in SF, people need to be beaten mercilessly until they finally do something about it. Giving you hope only gives you the illusion that you are getting better and once all these underdogs go back into a real tournament, they will get their ass kicked again by the best of players. They are just trying to attract players again since they found a drop in tournament attendance and wanna jerk off the better players by making them judges. The scene will never get great again since there are no arcades to foster the real competition every time they play. They can make as many HQs they want but only the serious players will continue to play and again nothing fosters comp better than arcades.

The whole scene these days are more concerned about who has a money match with who, and streaming, and Ono`s twitters and nothing to do with just playing the games because people love to play it. I would give everything that SF has done in the last 10 years up just to have local arcades with the solid competition back again.

I think that is gonna be my last rant about that shit cause I`ve been saying it for a while now and you have all heard it before, only responses so that you don’t hear me repeating myself.

It’s funny cause I know that if London had an arcade again, I would go there everyday to play. Since arcades died, my motivation has dropped more and more. It’s like yeah, I could meet again with everyone, but there’s no fire in our scene. No1 wants to pay a few bucks to have some sort of weekly tournament and so it feels like it’s just a bunch of dudes meeting up. At the arcade, dudes were meeting up as well, but the atmosphere…it was incredible. And even tho the skill level was pretty shitty overall (compared to Toronto and the like), the ppl who played there had the warrior mentality and would spend a few bucks NO PROBLEM…and for a lot of us this was daily.

I just can’t understand how ppl don’t wanna put up a few bucks to try and get some weekly thing going…I have been preaching this shit since the VERY BEGINNING (literally, like since I made the first London SRK thread).

I EVEN BROUGHT HAND OUTS FOR OUR FIRST MEETING!!!

Yet in the end, u can’t teach ppl how to attain the fire of power.

There is a pro and a con to arcades dying. The pro is that in London I could have never improved to the level I am now. I played cvs2 everyday and my jaw still dropped when I saw JS and ratio1beatdown play. The skill gap was just unreachable without moving to Toronto. I managed to lose 0-2 at t7 in every game I entered.

The con is the atmosphere, it’s almost like the arcades alone gave me the motivation to keep going. To become good and earn respect. That motivation kept going even after the arcades went down. I owe the arcades a lot-they are a part of my teenage years that helped mold me into a better person imo. Largely thanks to Mihai also.

Edit: this is why anyone who came to lovegety last year before t12 probably saw how happy i was to play there. (and beat down contra and ottawa) haha

We should do something like every each week bring 6 bucks, 2 buck entry for marvel 3, 2 buck entry for SFAE, and 2 bucks for random tourney of the week like ST, 3S, Marvel 2, CVS2 etc. And the thing is you minimum have to enter 2 tourneys. That way the marvel players enter marvel 3, AE players enter AE and then either from there depending the week lets say the old players enter the odd tourney but it is a game an AEer can play or Marvel 3er can play, so they choose to do either Marvel 3 and AE that week or Marvel 3 and the odd tourney. Or you can enter all. Cheapest you spend is 4 bucks, it is nothing compared to the arcades, most is 6 and you have all 3 tourneys. That would be sweet.

Fear of the mighty bison. He’s barely mid tier!

And about Terminator…
the 90s…
anime today…
pre 2000 cartoons…
music…
Popeye’s…
etc

Fuck it … 5 dollar buy in … Winner takes all or final 2 split … Dbl elimination … Plain and simple

cool remind me around the 29th.

mihai give me a break…ive accepted every possible challenge you have thrown out, even offered to come downt o london and you always back out. Even offered a loo vs london exhibition match a few times and you ignored it. Dont say there is no fire in the scene when you yourself are turning down challenges.

this…$2 is nothing, make it $5!

Dude I’ve never backed down out of a MM that happens while I’m playing with a person. I don’t like big announcement MM’s, back when the challenge first happened, I said I’m not going to Waterloo to MM you cause I didn’t find it neutral ground (which is a pussy thing to say, cause real men MM in hostile territory, but I can redeem myself by saying i have played in hostile territory cause back in the day lots of ppl hated me and I still went to Toronto to play plenty of times), and I said get a ride with Ra’id and come down and I will MM you, and you guys didn’t say you’d come, so I said screw it, I left SRK for a few months cause I don’t like this BS e-hype type shit. I’m not a coward, nor am I some MM fiend, but I have played a few MM’s.

As for Loo vs London, I suggested that type of deal a while back. Of course, the reality is that I’m an old man now and my SF days are behind me although I’m prolly at the peak of my skill or close to it (I got owned during the T tourneys, huge part cause of the sticks, but big part also cause Toronto players had INFINITELY more experience and knowledge of the cheap stuff).

Anyway, bottom line, I wouldn’t back down from a reasonable MM with you if I met you, but nothing crazy, I don’t think I’d win, but I don’t back down (IRL!!).

As for London, we’ve had this $$ discussion a million times, nothing will change. But if ppl do decide that $5 a week is OK to spend on your beloved hobby, then I propose we start having weekly tourneys.

What did your parents do to you?

I’m serious, a part of me still believes that your not as retarded as you sound and your trolling us.

Also, all this talk about weekly tournies with cash pots is like fuel for my car to drive down to London again.

Especially if it’s ST.

Josh, I’m not gonna lie, if you started coming down again, I would love it. I think you’d def have enuf cash for gas, too, as even if just me, you, Chris and Stephan joined, you’d still come out with $15.

Please ppl, let this recent discussion + Chris coming back motivate us to start having manly weekly tourneys.

If all goes well, we can have REAL motivation for ppl to come. Not friendly conversation and fun, but $20+ bucks!!

Ok when Chris comes down that’s when we should have the tourny …all in favor?

This, under no circumstance, cannot be upvoted, focused on, or held in high enough esteem to emphasize so much of the lack…well anything in these parts.

When Chris gets back, let’s start making Thursdays mean something.

Chris coming back + Josh thinking of coming back =
