This cannot be stated enough. Characters can have tougher matchups to deal with, but player skill and quality define more of the differences then anything else.
Matchups assume equal (or close to equal) skill. If they didn’t there would be no point in discussing them. There have been plenty of games with characters with 10-0 matchups. This doesn’t mean you automatically win just for picking a character and mashing random buttons. It means that if both of you understand the matchup, the other guy can’t win unless you really fuck up.
The easiest example honestly is Brawl (yeah yeah lol Brawl) Ganon vs just about anyone. He is so slow across his entire moveset that most characters can punish nearly every single thing he tries to do on reaction. Some of his moves (uair, jab, grab) can’t really be reacted to like that, but he has so few viable moves that you always know what he is going to do so it’s impossible for him to do anything you haven’t already prepared for - and if he does, who cares; you just got a free punish. If you play Sheik or IC’s and have a functioning brain and solid understanding of the game and average or better reactions, and you play against the best Ganon in the world who is also a cyborg and has all of the frame data embedded in his brain you will never lose a single game.
Forgot to mention he’s also a huge slow-moving target with no answer whatsoever to any kind of projectile keepaway.
a)bison viper is nowhere near 10-0.Viper is strictly a better character than bison tbh, she does more damage and has way better mixups. Can’t say i remember the last time a good viper lost to a good bison.
b) i can not take what you said seriously, esp since you are using either games i’ve never heard of or smash.
c)Bison vs guile was considered a 7/3 matchup in super, and i’m pretty sure that’s about as bad as it gets
I really didn’t even need to use another game as an example.
Just for example in any SF game let’s say Dhalsim vs Ryu is 9-1 Dhalsim’s favour (I don’t care what it actually is, this is an example). Now lets say you took away Ryu’s fireball. By definition the matchup just got harder. What is it now? 9.5-0.5? Ok now make it so Dhalsim can super for 2 meters…what now? 9.86295?? At what point in this fucking stupid and arbitrary parabola do you realize that impossible matchups can exist? Then when you reach that point, what’s to say that such matchups don’t already exist?
The facts. Maybe your matches with guile vs makoto in super have made you a bit salty, but that’s not because the match was 10-0. You just can’t sell me on the fact that 10-0’s exist. Unless you don’t know the matchup/play like a scrub and lose the match for yourself…i mean the dan community doesn’t even think he has 10-0 or evn 9-1 matches…I know ultradavid isn’t the greatest source but come on…Every character has strengths and gameplans that can win them any match. So it can never be a 10-0 matchup.

This has nothing to do with salt. I don’t complain about matchups when I lose. I played Ness in Brawl for 2 years, I can handle bad matchups. It has everything to do with logic.

Bison vs Viper is 6-4 at best in Bison’s favour. Her mix-up means shit when you can ex psycho/headstomp/teleport away from all of it. His s.rh beats everything she does except psychic lp thunder knuckle, and she has no answer to lk scissor pressure except a really late fierce knuckle or ex seismo. She has terrible normals, so if Bison decides to just sit back-- which they usually do-- it’s nearly impossible for Viper to get in.
I only have very basic entry-level experience with Vampire Savior, but I do really like the game and would love to play more.
10 0 is obv not true but at a non pro level bison pretty much does rape viper, OUT OF MATCHUP PLAY.
I’m not saying its even 7-3, but if were talking corry vs janko(and not marn vs jago) then i think it’s gonna be lopsided. if you’re not a fantastic player matchups matter more imo. and matchup wise(character design) bison has many advantages over viper.
