Awesome finals! North America dominated the last game though, Europe played good but North America controlled the whole map.
I do think that Europe’s lineup was “interesting” but over-focused on taking out individual targets whereas the North American team was much more “attack the group” oriented. Basically a lot of stuns and support and one carry (Kog). North America ended up winning all teamfights in the final match of the Grand Finals.

Match 2 - Anivia (Garren did put fear in Europe though, so he was banned along with Anivia in Game 3)
Match 3 - Ashe (but Amumu had the truly epic finish!)
Anyone have any links to the finals but with commentary? I heard Phreak was saying some fucked up shit to SKG like somethig about them suddenly having sad faces and shit. So wanna hear. :lol:
just got the game. went like 19-2 in my first game (though i could tell most of the players were newer to dota type games). just curious, do most people buy the hero pack, or do they get the IP and buy them?
Also, if you are using IP, try to steadily increase a reserve pool for when you hit summoner level 20 and want to buy Tier 3 runes. You can skip Tier 1 and Tier 2 runes and while it will be a disadvantage, it’s worth waiting and a good LoL player shouldn’t be affected any more (the teamwork is ultimately what will factor in a win/loss especially in solo queues–don’t even worry about win/loss ratio though).
The Tier 3 runes are super expensive.
As you level up, you can look online (Runeterra has an article on Rune cost/benefit analysis) to get an idea of what Runes you will eventually want. In the beginning you can either build your first runepage specifically for a role that you like to play or you can go an economical route that gives boost to almost all characters you would play (Cooldown reduction, mana regen for mana characters, etc…). I don’t even know what my first page of Tier 3s are gonna look like, I’m still at Level 18…
That said, a lot of the champions in the starter set are very cheap and you could probably get them via IP within a couple games but… The Starter Set imo is worth it under the following conditions/reasons:
If you buy a physical retail pack, it’s $20 instead of $30. Usually at Target (check online for local retailer availability) and Amazon. Some Best Buy stores carry the retail pack (check online though).
Both the Starter Set and the Retail edition of the starter set (what I called the retail pack above) include $10 of Riot Points on top of the characters.
So I tend to think the retail pack is worth it. But at the same time, you really can get a lot of the champions you would really play for free and use the weekly available champions to further your knowledge in the game.
Also, you can unlock Tristana and an exclusive skin by “liking” the real League of Legends page on facebook. Google search “Facebook Tristana” for instructions and even solutions if you run into problems (a lot of people have). She’s one of the best characters anyhow
APen/MPen Marks, Dodge Seals, CDR Glyphs, Flat Health Quints are the standard “good on everyone” rune pages. Very expensive though, Dodge Seals and CDR Glyphs are both 820s.
Alternatively you can run Mana Regen/level Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs (both 205s) if you’re cheap.
Attack Speed Marks, Armor Seals, CDR Glyphs, Flat Health Quints are standard for junglers.
Even if you don’t have much IP, do try to get the Flat Health Quints.
Speaking of items for Galio… Its called Spirit Visage I believe.
Gives HP MR and increases healing on you 20% and reduced cooldown 12%.
For like 1250g.
Which is everything Galio wants.
He needs HP.
MR is sweet on him.
Increased healing + his healing shield skill and ULT make him taunt multiples and survive much easier.
And his cooldowns are long.
Retail pack at Amazon for $20… not bad considering you get $10 of Riot Points. Pretty good deal since you would probably spend a lot more than $10 buying those champions - I didn’t really look at the costs of each champion but I know it can get really expensive just buying them individually. I didn’t even know they sold it like this, thanks for the info. I haven’t had much time to play recently because of work, but if I start playing again I’ll probably spring for this pack considering I’ve just been saving up IP for runes when I hit 20. Haven’t bothered buying too many characters because some of them are so expensive.
Note: The reason the quality of the video isn’t good is because WCG chose to stream the events in low quality (and their High Quality wasn’t so high quality despite people having to pay for the feed). The rest of the tournament that was streamed (Round Robin matches and Semifinals) were of much higher quality because Riot Games used Own3d on those matches and posted to the CL Gaming channel there. The finals stream was WCG’s territory…
I think this is a great Livestream for most LoL players because Tree Eskimo is great at commentating his own games as he is playing them. He lets you know what he is thinking and how he is assessing the games and his understanding of the game seems quite good. This doesn’t make him the best player or even the best teacher of LoL, but he really is providing a superb resource. Definitely worth watching for most players–Highly Recommended!
Note: LoLBase isn’t perfect, but here are the stats that are available for TreeEskimo. At the very least, it shows he is generally a high-ELO player.
The thing that’s also crazy (and causing rage from people who bought him) is that they made some tweaks after Phreak did his Champion Spotlight so… yeah, big mess… They can say that WCG did press their schedule, but it sounds like Swain was not ready to go out the door yet.
i love free ezreal week. everybody just wants to play him and everybody whom i seen played him sucks. does nobody take new champs to practice mode first? yeah and swain sucks, cant believe i wasted my IP on him.
has someone try tanking items on him with is ult? im gonna do it for shits and giggles since i dont think i’ll be winning a single game this whole week that involves me having ezreal on my team.
They will buff him don’t worry, they will actually probably buff corruption(?the does more damage the more you do while its active?) so much he will be broken.
