Both are pretty hard to play but Ezzy seems to have the better pay off.
Karthus’ ulti is lolz when you accidentally get multi-kills without tryin’.

Considering he can’t safely bomb you through turrets anymore and has to go full AP just to be on par with old Zil, I think the retarded range is fair
Still waiting on Morgana buffs. Though honestly, it’s more other support being absurdly better in that slot + the power of cleanse becoming more common knowledge boning her. Merc Treads also messes up her game pretty bad. You’re pretty much best off building around her ult; I generally start off with Mana Manip -> Soul Shroud; it makes a lot of sense. You’ll live through those midgame group ults that possibly set up wins. Regardless the devs said Morg buffs are inc, and since I think she’s still overshadowed but still very playable now, I can only hope upper mid tier is inc again.
I’d love to play some ranking games as a team with people from srk. Anyone down tonight for thaT?
theres ranked games already? is that a euro thing?
regarding zerker boots, yes they are the worst boots in the game. however if you are looking for a short game with a dps champion, there are times when a zerker boots is not a bad choice. these are especially true for champs who sorta rely on atk spd aka shaco, TF, Udyr, Twitch are the main ones. and if you can get a few kills or farm like crazy becuz of them they are well worth it. this is also true with maladys. one of the worst lifesteal items but early game you can dominate champs who dont have an escape mechanism.
karth and eze is a hard choice. currently Eze is one of the best champs in the game. his W is not obstructed by creeps, can hit multiple champs, can heal your own champs, slows down opponent attack speed, and if you go AP does tons of damage, all in one shot. early game he can go Q->W->Q and most non-tanks will have approx 70% of their life taken away in about 1.5 seconds. his E is great for chasing and escaping. has a global ult that scales well with AP, has low CD, and can even get it lower by hitting with his Q. among other things.
however due to this perceived OPness, he got a nerf last patch, and even then he is still pretty damn good so there is a chance that he might get nerfed again in the future.
while karthus most likely wont be touched anymore, so what you buy is most likely what youll get for the rest of your playing days.
BTW what are some of yall’s stats? i have currently 491 games won and 440 lost.
most played champs stats are…
TF 104 wins 70 losses 1104 kills 1067 deaths 1415 assists (majority of these games was back in the day when AP TF was OP)
Ashe 85 wins 52 losses 775 kills 667 deaths 1495 assists
Shaco 42 wins 28 losses 540 kills 329 deaths 461 assists
I’m at like 691 wins and 570 losses or something. I’ve played with and against some of the top players in the game, so I was a high level player at some point. I guess you could say. Elo has tanked recently though.
Ezreal is by far superior to Karthus. Karthus is a severely undervalued champion, however. Most people rank him as “not very good.” But I believe Karthus is a specialization champion. You kind of have to really devote time to playing him to be good. If you’re on point with lay waste, he can last hit like a god, get his farm up and wreck.
2 things that hold Karthus back:
1: Lack of solid burst damage. Karthus does a lot of damage, but in consistent format. he actually does more damage in a team fight than annie can. The difference is that Annie can stunbear an entire team, then insta-gib the carry in 2 seconds. which leads me to his second weakness
2: Lack of reliable CC. Ezreal gets by with no real CC because of his great mobility, the ability to heal allies, while doing damage to the enemy at the same time. Karthus has no way to escape without taking summoner spells to help him in that regard. He also has no way to stun a champion to shift momentum in a teamfight.
Karthus’ wall doesn’t really count as a CC. The slow on it certainly is amazing, and so is the lower resist. But for this to be very effective an escape tool, you already need to have distance on an enemy, otherwise they’ll just kill you before you can get out of their range (you are super squishy as all hell.)
That being said, his Wall has amazing utility in accordance with other AP champions, and even great synergy with top tier casters like ezreal, annie, and fiddlesticks. The problem with Karthus is that it’s really hard to fit him into a lineup that can compete with the top tier champions.
When banning draft mode is released for season 1, I suspect Karthus’ value will increase. I see him as a champion hardly being banned, and with some of the named top tiers that will most certainly be banned - I can see Karthus getting some decent play in High Level Tournaments. Like I said before, I think Karthus is undervalued. His damage out put when he’s protected can be evil. And even if you kill him in a team fight, you just gave Karthus free Reign to ult at will.
Also: Pantheon is bugged at the moment. He’s an absolute beast mode champion for pubstomping and scrub-slaying. He’s also ridiculously OP early-game (and gets much weaker as the game goes on.)
Heartseeker strike is currently gaining 100% damage from bonus damage (it should be 30), and that’s why it hits so goddamned hard. A really strong strategy is to get a fort elixer early on (even though it was nerfed a little.) and act very aggressively early on.
I also don’t like fast mejai’s on Karthus unless you’re really wrecking shop. I find the safer and more reliable thing to do is get a catalyst first and make a rod of ages.
yeah agreed on everything about Karth.
banning draft mode is gonna be quite interesting. HON already has this and the strategy at the champion select is fun in itself.
ah no wonder on that Panth bug… its just like the Eze mystic shot bug, which apparently got hotfixed…
pantheon has been bugged since his release, but the fact that he’s already not too great of a champion overall has kept Riot from fixing it.
As far as the ez v karthus question I back karthus all day.
I agree he is a champ you have to put time in to be good with but when you do you are a beast.
I mained karthus for a pretty nice chunk of time. You can get mejai’s stacks pretty easy and his wall and well placed lay waste will get you a pretty easy first blood and quick level 6 if you solo mid.
I went flash/clarity on him with a 9/0/21 build. He’s one of my favorite champs by far and can wreak a team fight by himself if your strong enough.
IMO, playing karthus really shows the skill of the player and has a higher ceiling compared to ez. A bad karthus will do nothing but feed, a good karthus will do little, but a great karthus player, can dominate and win games.
I think the most ap I’ve ever had with karthus was 820, would have had more but the game ended before we could get baron
I think the best ez right now is ad. Also, karthus with golem is stupid because of how fast you can spam lay waste. And karthus and kassadin is a retardedly stupid team Combo
What do y’all think of Heimdinger? I picked him up when I first started and I had horrible item builds cause I was scrubby so I didn’t think much of him.
But I decided to pick him up again and damn he’s amazingly fun is dude viable in high elo games? He’s got no escape so he’s gank bait late game but if you watch for MIAs like crazy you’ll usually be coo on an escape. Funniest part when I got quad teamed and nailed them a stun grenade and got away lol
But any tips or info on him? I usually go mejai on him cause I rarely get ganked so my turrets end up hitting almost 200+ late game
Sorry for the double post but I meant 200+ AP only
Karthus also harasses like a champ, lay waste is so rough to lane against, he’s really solid IMO. EZ on the other hand is pretty amazing, but he’s been nerfed, and the team he’s REALLY good on is considered OP right now(heal team) so that team will probably be nerfed as well.
I’m 64 losses 110 wins with amumu, overall I’m +40(don’t remember my exact non amumu record). Amumu is a HUGE amount of my games though, my next most played character is nasus at 12wins 11 loses.
Yeah, and don’t forget when lay waste hits a single target it does double damage. Early game with a level 2 wall and either lvl 1 or 2 defile does so much damage it’s crazy.
I’ve seen some heimerdingers roll kids of he starts doing well. I think he’s viable just have to be careful you don’t get shut down.
My top most played are
Twitch - I playe him all through closed beta and stopped in open beta when everyone jumped on the bandwagon. I played him when it wasn’t even worth putting points into his ult.
Karthus - mained him for a long time. Lost far too many games due to bad team when I would have the most kills out of both teams and was dominating.
Shen - played for a long time after he came out because, well he’s a fucking ninja
I’ve just picked up Mortekaiser, he’s a beast! I read some guide on building a magic penetration mort, and it’s surprisingly effective!
Armor pen huh? Morde is hella fun. I’m a fan of tank build myself. Been playing grag because he’s been free this week and I never knew how godlike he is! Body slam is op
So today they’re adding energy regen/+energy runes to the shop
Nega, would you trade your Seals and Quints to have an extra 10 energy regen per 5? That’s 20% more energy than usual holy crap
So is this game more balanced than HON?
So happy to see more Karthus love. I hear a lot of people say he sucks. IMO, while not one of the best in the game, hes definitely playable. I got a feeling though a lot of scrubs might try to ban him because of his “cheap” ultimate. There have been so many games where you get people who are like “karthus is a cheap fucking hero because all you gotta do is stack AP by farming and do his ult, and bam, you get kills, and kills win games”. And that bitching came from a fiddlesticks, which I find ironic since fiddle is just that much better.
As for your question Sacr3D, I havn’t played HON, but from what I have been told, LoL is much different than HoN and a bit different from DOTA in general, and those two ares upposed to be very similar. One thing though from what my cousin told me, is that the HoN is not very scrub (newbie) friendly at all while this game seems to be much more welcoming to new players. Gameplay wise, matches can go anywhere from 20 to over an hour, but maybe except for one, I havn’t had any games go on for a prolonged period of over 70+ minutes.
It’s hard to say, Ranked play isn’t available yet and maybe only the top 10% of players really play this game competitively. Most players agree that the top half of the cast is competitive, though there is still a top 12 and teams tend to have at least 4 champs from that top 12.
For the other 90%, stuff tends to be retarded due to the nature of pickup teams and blind pick in regular play. Playing without an arranged team is mostly just gambling that your shitty pickup team is slightly better than their shitty pickup team.
