Is anyone here really good with the level creator yet?

Man, I need more practice. I’ve spent maybe 15 hours on my first level and it’s not even close to done. Maybe 2/3 complete.

Here goes a pretty cool macross theme level.

I’m getting there.

I’m not getting really ‘artsy’ per se, but I’m pushing the physics engine every time.

My PSN id is Daidoji_Kage. Friend me and check out the one published level I have, it’s called ‘Sublime Mountain’. It’s hard…no lie. But the level really works once you figure out just how to make the jumps and steps.

I plan on making a swarm of “Platform Hell” type levels for those seeking a challenge.

Sweet. I’ll check it out.

So, I’m testing out my boss fight… Been testing it for an hour, eliminating problems one by one. Tweaked the shit out of it, and saved it. Now I have a little problem…

The boss fight has tons of explosives, and there’s ash all over the place, and the only way to remove it is to delete the stickers one by one. And god knows how many hundreds of explosions there were in the past hour…

The guide has a large section dedicated to level building, it may not hurt to look through that too.

I’m searching for that level right now. lol

I add more, so it turns out last time I was not even 1/4 complete.

Spent maybe 20-25 hours on it, and now it’s about 1/2 complete (in my eyes) and I’ve used up just over 1/2 of the thermometer. Hopefully, I don’t run out of space. I’m still pretty bad at the creator but it’s so amazingly flexible. It seems like there’s nothing that’s impossible.

I think I’ll have a finished product by the end of the week.

What, is this bokchoy’s Opus? Sounds like a large level. Looking forward to it

I’ve published three so far. Check 'em out.

Working on my fourth. A little bit of a platformer this time. Still trying to get the hang of the editor myself. Speeds up the process to know what you need, where it is, and how to access it in the menu quickly.

Nice, I’ll definitely check them out. We should have a list of levels made by SRK people. I’m also thinking we should have easter eggs for SRK people. Like you have to put in the S, R and K stickers somewhere to open a hidden room.

Yeah, my level is pretty big, but it’s really not that long. Just a lots of details.

In a few of the rooms, there are a lot of switches, triggers, emitters, etc… In the editor, the final room (fully tweaked and finished now) looks like a spider web of green wires, and I can barely see through them (The wires, switches and triggers are invisible when playing, of course).

the thing i liked most about this game was putting stickers on other people and see them try not to get stickied hehe

Was that you who was trying to put a monkey sticker on my cardboard mask when I was playing with J-Nav last night?

How many of us have mics? It’s pretty hard co-ordinating the 3x and 4x areas in Story mode when noone has mics.

You don’t really need a mic to play LBP.

You don’t but it makes it easier to co-ordinate specific parts of the level.

It’s just annoying when people are running ahead or jumping all over the place and it takes forever to type anything up without a keyboard. I’ve played with my other friends and I just find it easier if everyone has mics to co-ordinate the multiplayer levels.

Haha yeah that was MaxVandalism315.

I have one. How do you use it in LBP?
Kombo told me you have to turn on the mic before you turn on the PS3.

You don’t have to turn it on before turning on the ps3. I turn my headset on and off all the time when i play LBP and I have no issues with it. You can adjust the settings of the headset in the settings option. I don’t know what else to say really.

Ooookay. I think I might know why my thermometer is so damn high. It’s the custom shapes. Takes up a lot of memory. That’s what I’m guessing anyway.

I’m at 75% of my thermometer right now, and the level isn’t really that big.

I’m about 80% done the content of my level, so I’m guessing I’ll be pushing 80% when the level is finished. I hope people like it because it’s 50 hours in the making.

looking forward to playing it

Wow, I’m such a noob.

I’ve just discovered that a directional switch makes winches stay down (or up) until you trigger it…
Fuck me for not doing the tutorial.

Anyway, does anyone know how reporting offensive levels works? Or what happens if one of your levels gets banned for having something offensive? Is there an infraction system, or do they just remove the level?

Long story short: I put something in my level that’s borderline offensive, but it’s a secret room that only a few people will know about. If random people don’t find it, I’m okay?

Not exactly sure, but I was reading on another site and a few people were complaining that one infraction will lock your level (they couldn’t even edit or play themselves…someone suggested signing out of PSN to stop that), until it is “investigated.”

That’s interesting about the switch. I’m confused about what the ->| out and |<- in settings do. Every time I tried it, the winch or piston really freaked out.

Are you serious? That sucks. So if I get reported, I should just have a backup of the level minus the “offensive” part? It’s actually a secret room for people from SRK. =)

What do you mean by ->| and |<-. I’m not sure. You mean the three way switch? I’ve actually never used that.

BTW: Conveyor Belts are the most useful thing in the level creator. My first impression of the level creator was that you can’t make “for” loops and “while” loops. The I figured out that you can, with emitters, switches and conveyor belts.
