Im telling you, watch his sets VS strider and see how bad he gets destroyed when he can’t get in with focus attacks. Like I said, he just whiffs a bunch of cr.MK and St.HP when you’re in a range he thinks you’re going to press buttons. My shitty Elena just whiff punish him all day and I constantly buffered St.LK and cr.LP into her low special to blow up his focus attacks. Here did end up barely beating me twice, but it was literally just lucky jumpin into mixups. He has good mixups and reads, but his neutral is pretty bad. And you can’t say that it’s just because Dudley doesn’t have good footsies (which isn’t true, he has good walkspeed and really damaging buttons and buffered whiff punishes) because I’ve caught Dudley players who’ve pushed my shit in my just being patient and making good decisions.
Cool story bro. I’m just of the opinion that the guy earned his spot on the big stages. He plays well enough to beat some good players, and is widely recognized as the best Dudley. Shit like that doesn’t happen as a fluke. But hey, this is the beauty of an anonymous online board, we can all say and think what we want.
Whatever, I clearly said he did beat me both times, although it was very close. You can like Smug all you want, but what I’m saying is the truth and you know it. Like what otori posted earlier, you have to play extremely weird against him, because he does dumv things that work because good players aren’t used to it must of the time.
Well, unpredictability is a legit tool in a player’s arsenal. The point of contention is whether it’s a result of being dumb, as you put it, or ordered chaos with a greater purpose. I think the latter is correct. Just my two cents.
If I’m able to chime in, I’ve played Smug some times online (hell I played him today) and his neutral really does kinda suck, he has some great anti airs which will give him great corner carry, his reads are on point, he always maximizes the fuck out of his hits and punishes and his defence is underrated as fuck, it really is tough to pin him down, but he does rely a bit on gimmicks on the neutral game, shit like jump back HK in the corner, ex ducking > grab, j.HK’s…if you’re not giving him something to stuff at st.HK range he’ll have a tough time landing a hit.
Also, I can’t help myself but to point out that Hagejin’s mighty 1-0 record vs Daigo ended today. Sad day.
I have watched a lot of guy footage over the last couple weeks and I think BigBird is the best guy, and even if you disagree it absolutely isn’t Mark Teddy.
I haven’t posted here on the regular in like 6-8 months and I knew before even clicking the thread that it was just going to be Emil jacking off over some Japanese arcade players that we stream monsters totally never heard of.
We engage Emil mainly because he is one of the only ones with a significantly dissenting opinion. A lot of the stuff most of us would agree on so the conversation kind of ends quickly.
Well you can continue to be stuck in your US bubble if it makes you feel better, but I’ll continue to promote the best players in the world that just happen to be unknowns or randoms to the uneducated public.
To Emil’s credit there are some legitimate players he points out that i wouldn’t have known about…
Didn’t know shit about Hagejin before as I dont follow gief players and this dude is so crispy. Nullifying fireballs with green hand more than any geif i’v seen play.
He is only one of the players he pointed out that ended up being the truth.
This isn’t to say that there aren’t some “Filthy gaijin cant stand up to the holy Nippon race” posts intermixed with the good ones lol.
