A game system that easily gets the vast majority of 2D fighting games released. Hell, its gets the majority of games(current-gen) released these days period.
Though that’ll end soon once next-gen is in full-swing, but for right now PS2 is THE HOME for 2d/3d fighters.

Since this thread got derailed a bit I was wondering if someone could answer a few questions and perhaps make a few suggestions.
Ok, just got myself a new JPN PS2 and heres what I plan on getting. What should I add to this list and what should I not bother with?

Why is NGBC $60, but the version called “SNK Best Collection” is only $30? And is it true the load times are horrendous?
The load time on NGBC is horrendous but it’s not the fault of the PS2. We have the arcade cabinet at Orbit and waiting between fights is brutal. A lot of times I think the game has stalled with all the waiting. If it’s a direct port, then the PS2 is just acting like the arcade version.
I totally recommend Melty Blood Act-Cadenza. It’s a great game, unless it’s just me and I’ve played it since Melty Blood patch 1 first came out for pc like in 2002 I think? Get KoF XI too.
I hear FOTNS is hella broken.
I’m wondering why Capcom hasn’ done what they’ve been doing lately and port Jojo’s to PS2, like an exact arcade version, unless the Dreamcast is exact, if it is I’ll get it for there.
p.s. If I want to get a PS2, should I just wait for awhile to buy an import one, so the games and stuff go lower? or is that a totally bad idea since games are going to be harder to come by?

Okay FYI Last Blade Collection why I recommend getting as much as possible Infested Jester keep in mind Last Blade Collections slowdown is beyond atrocious.
I tell you what if the SNK Best Collection of NGBC has some extras I’ll be all over it…though I am gonna get it anyways lol.
I recommend Melty Blood Act Cadenza, you also Have KOF Orochi Collection which is KOF 95-97 in one disc and also you can now get the game that will make the XBOX people have penis envy lol thats right-King Of Fighters 94 Rebout.
Also get King of Fighters NeoWave…NeoWave is basically a KOF 2k2 #R upgrade…
It has enough touches in my opinion to warrant it a different game than 2k2. You sure as hell wanna add KING OF FIGHTERS XI.
And about NGBC being $60 and the Best Collection version being $30, Sony has a rule like if you release a PS game upgrade it can’t be more than like $40 I believe…and this also gives people more of a reason to play NGBC by cutting the price down so I say its a brilliant move by SNK, more or less making me believe the possibility if a sequel to NGBC grows day by day.
Spudly they probably have a US PS2…remember the main problem about these games thus far besides peoples POVs is availability…out of 10 homes 1-2 of them have an import/Modded system…Thats what the survey says.

FotNS comes out in March 2007 according to the official website. The other games come out sometime in 2007.
The SNK Best Collection comes out in January. Just be patient and you’ll get the game for $30 (unlike most of us importers who already have the game and paid $60 for it). And yes, the load times are horrendous. I don’t know if they’re trying to fix that for the Best Collection version. SS Tenka & KOF Neowave also will have Best Collection versions. KOF Neowave comes out next week if I’m not mistaken and SS Tenka comes out in January.
If you have a Xbox I’d say don’t bother getting the PS2 version. The Xbox version is $20. It doesn’t have Angel & May Lee but everyone else is there.
Yeah true point go ahead get the XBOX version if you have an XBOX its cheaper much cheaper.

Yes there is a Garou Collection 2 planned with Real Bout and RBS… They would probably have Real Bout, RBS and RB2
Dan in order to play import games you need either a modded PS2 or a Swap Disc Magic+ Flip Top to make things work.
is the magic swap disc work with every import? i went to the mall today and saw a kof xi machine so i stop and played for a couple minutes and wow that game really rocks…anyone know when will it release in the US or on xbox?
no, swap magic doesn’t work for all imports, but it works for pretty much all the good ones.
KOF XI is gonna get a US release we are hoping for December…Itll be Ps2
