Ling Xiaoyu Thread

Why not just cr. jab>st. jab>cr. forward>wavecrest, it’s a lot safer hitconfirm and you can continue with jab pressure. I know what an empty jump is.

Because cr.LP is not a low and a common mixup is to empty jump into a low since it fools your opponent into blocking high.

Wait what?

I know the empty jump low games, I just never knew you could block low jabs high. Wow.

Yeah, Xiaoyu’s only lows are cr.LK, cr.MK, and the second hit of cr.MP. Everything else can be blocked standing.

empty jump low is a VERY strong mixup in this game. but they are only effective if you have a fast normal. you could do it before, but you would have to chain it (unsafe unless you burn a bar) and sometimes other players buttons would come out first.

Well looks like it’s going to be pretty damn good now, 4f is like her current low jab.

What setups do you do post cr.hk ender in her BnB?

In corner I do cr.hk xx lk divekick, overhead and they’re stuck in there.

I usually use Lk. California Roll twice to pass through the opponent and screw up rolls. If I happen to delay the 2nd roll I’ll use Ex Turn of Fortune to create a counter-hit for another combo to teach them a lesson not to mash. In the corner I usually end the combo with Storming Flower to make them want to quick-recover. This sets them up to eat a lk. Shooting Star right when they get up.

I love doing short California Roll>RH California Roll>SCC right into Cyanide on the wakeup, hits soooo many people blocking low and beats low mashing; it trades with uppercuts too. Try it sometime.

I usually do the short roll to short roll like you said though, for the up-close factor.

I’m not sure if any of you found any good setups for her HK Flower Power but I’ve been starting to end my combos more with Mistrust because it leaves the opponent in a bad situation if they choose to quick-rise. One thing you could do is immediately switch into Pheonix Stance after a the mistrust connects then immediately do HK Flower Power. If your opponent quick-rises, it will serve as a meaty. It will even trade with non-ex srk’s.

Yeah I do mistrust enders every now and then just because I get bored of doing the same combo over and over; didn’t really think there would be any actual utility.

Yea, mistrust puts the opponent in the perfect position for an ambiguous cross-up; you could take a slight step forward then jump toward with a lk or a slight step back and super-jump in with a hp. I think the hp is a safe jump, not sure. You can also follow up the mistrust with a California roll…

Dat ass…my girl’s got a fatty! :sunglasses:

Xiaoyu with 3 power gems :nunchuck:

Once again, not sure if this is new or not but I was messing with Xiaoyu in the lab today and came up with an interesting concept. Let’s say you’re good at linking a s.lp into a c.hp, if so then you’ll be able to confirm into a wave crest but let’s say the opponent blocks. I’m not sure the blockstun the opponent experiences when they block Xiaoyu’s c.hp but if you stance cancel the c.hp then cancel the stance (back into regular stance), you could go directly into a cyanide or a c.mk based on whether the opponent is crouching or standing. I’ve been messing around with it on endless and it seems pretty effective. I’ve been doing the same with c.mk although it leaves the opponent in less blockstun… Sorry if I revealed anyone’s secret tech & I hope Capcom doesn’t find some way of removing this from her…

Really good stuff I’ll have to add that into my gameplay. I’m getting pretty stale lately especially when facing my usual opponents in endless. If Capcom removes her ability to change stances and cancel them quickly from blocked special cancelable normals she wouldn’t really be an effective character at any range.

Yeah I usually do this with low forward all the time, along with CADC backdash(forward dash way risky).

One of my favorites is CR>CR after a RH in a combo into SCC Cyanide.

Lol that costume is so stupid! It would look so much better without the orbs X_X.

Psst-I still use it though.
