Ling Xiaoyu Thread

If you’re saying you can’t tag in your partner to combo off C.HK, then hopefully it’ll be good news that you in fact can! Asuka for example I’d often do F.LK into a full combo to connect off a C.HK tag cancel from Xiaoyu. I can still do this now, and I’m certain that most characters can do a combo from it still.

I’m probably sounding like a broken record at this point, and while I’m not saying she’s stronger than she was before this patch, I really don’t think she’s gotten much worse (if worse). It’s just so much easier to notice the downsides than it is to acknowledge the upsides.

She can only improve at this point, and that’s what some people are working on.

Also, new characters: My Lei is colored to look like Gen from SF. It’s astonishingly perfect!

Well, now she can do shoulder -> st.MP xx MP hakkesho, LP hakkesho, cr.HK. Probably more damage than before.

I got some new colors too, all MLP themed.

Sakura - Derpy, Rarity
Elena - Zecora
Alisa - Fluttershy
King - Big Mac
Lei - Spike (lol Dragon Kung Fu)

Ahh yes Elbow. IDK why the hell I said Shoulder. Probably cuz of Guy. My apologies.

In Tekken 6, Xiaoyu has one of the fastest punishes in the game which is f+1+2, which is a shoulder. Dunno if that was what you were thinking of, but it made sense to me lol.

I think I might have found Xiaoyu’s most damaging combo off of EX Shooting Star.

EX SS > cr.HP > MP Bagua Palm > LP Bagua Palm > Storming Flower/cr. HK depending on knockdown preference - 414

I think the most damaging combo will almost always involve 2 hakkeshos and a cr.HK or LP Palm, including tag cancels, unless we can find something new.

I’m still waiting for Flower Power and the flip to be useful.

i think that damage count might have been a typo, too. i couldn’t get 431 damage at all when i tried doing that combo

by switch cancelling it, you can set up a nasty 50/50 mixup. in the vid, had i chosen not to press st.HP with vega, jin would have had to block in xiaoyu’s direction instead.

the startup for flower power is kind of long though. and it’s easy to alpha counter, too. although with vega, i can also bait out and punish the alpha counter by performing his KKK flip. so maybe other characters have similar options using invincible moves too.

best AA combo i’ve found is to do cr.HK xx LP hakkesho (charge it for a bit or else it will whiff), LP hakkesho, cr.HK

or, if you’re looking to spend a meter for more damage, cr.HK xx stance cancel, cr.HP xx upkicks xx switch cancel

i think i’ll make a vid showing her new bnbs for players interested in picking up xiaoyu. hopefully we’re finished optimizing her new combos

I’ll update the damage on that EX SS move in a bit, I was writing down the combo from memory.

And guys, st.HP is seriously underrated, but you gotta use it max range. I was playing against some people last night and it proved to be surprisingly useful.

Is there a Xiaoyu match-up thread anywhere around here? Would be nice to see and hear how others deal with the various match-ups.

Rufus-xia: 8/2

His far reaching normals are kinda troublesome to deal with and punish since they bring him back so far out of range. I usually just wait for a dive kick and raw launcher afterwards. More than likely a Rufus player is trying for that dive kick, cr. lk spam constantly. I haven’t seen a Rufus that felt downright unbeatable yet so I’m not sure I can call that quite 8/2 maybe 6/4 Rufus.

Agreed. I don’t think it’s anywhere near 8-2.

Well I was exagerrating but I still think its xia’s worst mu. The limbs aren’t really a problem its the combonation of his dk, high dmg and his stupid reversal. Mixing up raw launcher isn’t really a good strategy to rely on. But the fact that his dk can still randomly crossup and the whole prob with anti airing it in the first place. Sure u can cr.hk it but its just pretty hard and at a certain rangde u have to guess cuz he will dk past the hitbox of cr.hk or just a regular crossup. Now u can meet him in the air with j.lp (which I find the most reliable) but then its another guessing game in his favor, the fact that his dk gives a free juggle on hit or he could just j.hk which will prob lead to half health. And the prob is that after he takes most ur life ur put into another guessing game w/ very ambiguous j.mk or ambiguous dk’s xia just has to sit there and take it cuz she has no reversal. Now xia def has her offense too but the approach is a lot harder and xia does good dmg (rufus does better dmg but most the time rufus players need to put 5 cr.lk in their combos) but xia has to worry about his reversal which again with two bars can take half ur life but even if he doesn’t he still gets the mixup. If xia had a reversal or a reliable aa to the point where his jumping becomes very risky for him, if xia had one of those I would put the fight at 6-4 but I think its a 7-3
