Ling Xiaoyu Thread

oooh shit i am chaining the cr.hp =[

ty

How do you sto yourself from chaining instead of linking?
I feel that if I wait to long, I’ll miss the combo.

Going back to what I said about Flower Power, I can’t seem to get it again on HK Flower Power. If I’m following the frame data correctly, you might be able to get MK Flower Power, but I know you can get EX Flower Power which is one frame slower than the LK version. If so, it’s a one frame link for the MK version.

However, doing EX Turn of Fortune into any of the Phoenix Talons will deal more damage and launches the opponent. I think it will depend on what you’re looking for.

@Iyokuu
It’s a “feel” kind of thing. Just keep doing it over and over with plinking. Don’t worry about missing the link. Just do it.

s.mp aop p has been hitting mashers if they block the mp and try to push buttons and if they don’t push buttons you’re relatively safe

I know the games too early to talk about this sort of stuff if i were to ask for buffs would be these 2 lower her jump arc and less push back of cr lp as on crouchers you sometimes get far st mp when trying to link into cl st mp really annoying. :frowning:

Good find. EX Turn of Fortune, AOP, unstance, cr.HP, etc. works

Do you have a way to unstance quickly? Also, do you happen to have any frame data on unstancing? Thanks.

Im practicing f.mk -> qcb mp -> cr.HK -> CADC. With CADC cancel, I always get the cr. HK to whiff after I dash cancel. Am I doing it too slow? I dont see how I can do it any faster. I am also doing it in the corner. Does that make a difference?

That is awesome, I didn’t know qcb mp connects after overhead.

:f::mk::d::db::b::mp::d::hk::db::b::hp::f::f::d::hp::lp::mp::hp::df::f::hk: connects for 375, I just tested it myself (not in the corner… though it probably works in the corner too), good find!

I recommend buffering the during the cancel (the cancel needs to hold for 5 frames) so that the dash comes out on the first frame of the cancel. :d::hk: will connect but :d::hp: is much easier.

:f::mk::d::db::b::mp::d::hk::db::b::hp::f::f::d::hk::db::b::hp::f::f::d::hp::lp::mp::hp::df::f::hk: connects for 414 making it the best no meter overhead follow up we’ve found yet.

i think snakeeyez was the one to find it, but it it’s in like the 2nd page of the combo thread i believe but getting up to 400 is really awesome
so good find on your part too

Press :d: once as soon as Dark & Stormy turns to Turn of Fortune (I think 3rd hit). This makes Xiao automatically shift to Phoenix asap after Turn of Fortune. Wait a little until Turn of Fortune is complete and then hit :df::df: or :db::db:+ cr.HP as soon you shift into Phoenix. I don’t have frame data but that’s what I’m doing, it may be a 1 frame link but I hit it with enough consistency that I don’t think it is.

I’ve seen this touched on before but I think it’s important I should mention it again

Can you guys refer to a move by its input rather than its name?

I reckon move names should be saved for moves that gain a reputation over time (Like DP or EWGF) or for stances, and even then we should find a way to abbreviate them. Yeah, sorry, just a little gripe I have

This is the combo Kiryu Tsukimiya was using on one of his replays. Very practical way to set up the loop outside of anti-airing

That is awesome. You can make cr. HP link into cr. HP with this.

An update. I must have misread the combo counter as the MK and HK versions aren’t doable from a regular hit and LK is next to useless for tagging. I apologize for the false alarm. The good news is that I can go into the Jaguar Knee loop for 499 at 3 bars, but I don’t know if that’s the best option. Oh well, at least I found a link.

If you have a PPP button mapped the first one works alright, otherwise it easy to accidentally get ex fortune cookie.

The second one will make you do her super.

I noticed that. It might just be easier to just press PPP on df or db and then do the rest.

i’ve been using the ppp button lol

Might be obvious, but it’s worth mentioning that you can go into the cr.hk loop off of a chain into cr.hk if you use ex. This lets you start the loop off of situations you wouln’t be able to otherwise. It’s probably not worth the meter in some situations though.

How in the world is she similar to Fuerte? She has a move that looks similar to tortilla but it isn’t even a command grab. She’s quick too, but those are about the only similarities.

I know wakeup isn’t as critical yet but every little helps:

For the shotos, after a forward throw if you pause for a moment (don’t move) and then jump in with :lk: a couple of things can happen.

  1. Early jump in and you’ll cross them up.
  2. Slightly later and you’ll hit in front.

The best thing is that both timings cause a reversal SRK to whiff completely allowing a full punish.

I have no Idea where to start with Ling, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advanced.
