Ling Xiaoyu Thread

Okay, so I’m in training mode and I’m trying to do stuff with Xiaoyu against Rufus and it really isn’t looking good. Her cr.:hp: can anti air, but in most cases the opponent will beat her out. On Rufus’ dive kick, it can beat it if you think they are going to throw it out, but if you are knockdowned first, there aren’t enough frames for the cr.:hp: to come out. Standing :lp: does work on the other hand as a poke, but if Rufus goes for a mixup, the :lp: will go clean under him. Lastly, Phoenix Talon does beat out all of Rufus’ kicks as Xiaoyu’s hitbox is on the lower half of the screen (side away from Rufus), the EX doesn’t do any better, but the problem is once again, you can’t be knockdown to start it up because if Rufus is too far into his dive kick, both attacks will whif, the only difference is that you will be at a big disadvantage.

I think your best bet is go to with :lp: because that has the fastest start rate of all the moves listed, and if you are lucky it’ll at least trade so that you can create space.

Does anyone know any good moves for Xiaoyu to get close to the opponent?

I ment you cant have a option for everything in the air gotta learn them matchups

Sadly, Rufus is good against both Chun and Xiaoyu…UGH!

rufus always beat chun lol

you gotta just zone his ass out or do what ido and rush like crazy

I know, and it doesn’t help that Rufus is really good in this game still and that Dive Kick leads to really big damaging combos. Thus, my team fears Rufus, but I don’t care, I need the two of them together…if anything, the only person who can zone between them in Chun, and lets be honest…her zoning is pretty bad if you want to even call it that <_<

Except Xiaoyu is apparently not much of a footsie character or a zoning character. This’ll be fun to say the least.

you are gonna have to post in the chun thread abotu the last bit

I know lol, I don’t plan on starting a topic about it…just saying xP

What do you guys think Xiaoyu would be from the info people have posted here? I’d like to hear what others think about her.

oh no i wanted to hear why you thought her zoning was bad

Okay. She isn’t a footsie character, she isn’t a zoning character, she isn’t a pressure character. WTF is she?

mid teir here we come?

dont worry settles in

How dare you.

Naturally, I wouldn’t have many complaints. Of course, I highly doubt Xiaoyu has the capability to do a vortex considering the game has made it impossible.

And IDK about you guys, but I’ll probably end up rolling, flipping, crouching my way around shit and punish my foes, very similar to how I play Fuerte.

oh you can still vortex

its just not as noob friendly

oh lol…well I just say it really quickly as I don’t want to get off topic. Her Kikoken is really unsafe against pressure considering unless they are 3/4 of the screen away or more, they can do a jump in and punish you, and her pokes are good, but once they are in, she doesn’t have many options to get them away minus SBK which can be beat out by a lot of moves still like in SF4. She still got those limbs though…and that thigh (yes, just a thigh, not thighs…just one specific thigh, the left one is superior to the right thigh)

If anything, I would say she is more pressure than zoning or footsie, but I would say she is like El Fuer-cough El Fu- cough ugh…I don’t want to say it <_< I think Xiaoyu is a really good second character, not the one on point (is that what they call the first one you have start all the combos). Kind of how like I think it was NYBChris (sorry for the mispelling, I forgot the name) used her with Hwaorang and he used her to come out and finish the combo, I think that is Xiaoyu’s place.

Also, in terms of tiers, I think she is going to be mid-low if not low :frowning: because on her own, she has a very difficult time doing anything.

Also, 4neqs posted this in the Chun thread, but I thought it really fit here lol so I’ll repost it lmao xP

What makes you think she isnt a pressure character?

Most of her moves don’t have fast enough startup frames to be a pressure character and in most instances she’d probably get beat out of she kept trying to constantly pressure them. I don’t want to say it, but I think Xiaoyu has to be constantly changing, so that the player cannot guess where she will go next. Her moves point to that as many of her moves can lead into 2 or sometimes even 3 different moves creating a giant branching tree. She has mixups with the specials she can cancel, but I think Xiaoyu has to be always moving like she is Tekken so that player doesn’t know what she is doing.

Will you do it for a scooby snack?

I’m gonna stop getting off topic, but I felt the need to post this too lol
