Ling Xiaoyu Tekken 6 BR Combo video. In JPN, but enough is given to get a basic understanding of what’s going on.

Wow. No posts in the Ling thread for almost two months? That ain’t right! Anyway, look out for me on XBL. Gamertag on the side. Can’t wait to play some Tekken again after I quit 5 a couple years ago cuz I never got a PS3 for DR. I have been playing BR in the arcades though and I’m really hyped for this to drop next week so let’s get to work guys.:woot:

Yes, it is has been a bit lonely here. I only have PSN, but if you have any questions I will do my best to answer.

Nobody likes our girl :(. Hopefully, there’ll be some more activity here once the game is released everywhere.

I’ve been playing DR here and there since spring of this year to try and at least get some basics for BR. Hopefully, I can catch up to all you guys who’ve been playing for years.

9thpixel, I hope you won’t mind me bugging you with questions (and games too, if you’ll be playing some online), because I’m sure I’ll have a lot of them.

taggin for the future!!

Ima scrub!!

I guess nobody discusses Ling on this forum. Should have guessed since peeps barely discuss her at TZ.

so for starters, any1 have transcripts for her 7 sample combos in practice mode?

I tried to check TZ, but the combo thread for her is like 500 pages and I couldnt find them…

I heard the guide has the transcript tho, but I also heard the guide sucks and no one should buy it =/

-EDIT-

ok so I jus spent some time in training mode and ended up figuring out how to do all the sample combos on my own O_o

Im dont follow Tekken so if my notation is off, plz forgive and correct me:

df+2~1, 1 d+2, RDS 2 1 4

AOP uf+3 1, AOP 1 2, RDS 1 4

uf+3, b+2, RDS 2 1, ff+1, ff+1+2 1+2

RDS f+3+4 3+4, RDS f+3+4 3+4, RDS 2 2, RDS f+3+4 3+4, RDS 4

3, ff+3 4

df+2~1, f+3 1, RDS 2 2, d+1+2 AOP uf+3 3

fff+3, AOP 1 2, RDS 2 2, b (cancel RDS stance), f+3 1 1+2

Ignored playing as her since Tekken 3.

I wanted to use her for quite a while but wasn’t a decent player until T5, never got around to picking her up, was always thinking “I like looking at the character select screen, everything is so inviting because you could have so much fun playing as like everyone… but like i dunno where to begin”

& then it was like back to Asuka

But I’ll probably give her a real chance now.

I used her here and there in Tekken 3, but I absolutely love her in this game.

She is making a strong case of being my main this time around. Plus her ending win-poses are so cute/funny.

Here’s a set of Ling mirror matches from geesendou’s (aka Joybox) YouTube account featuring Kiru (black Ling), one of my favorite Japanese Ling players with Yoshiden (pink Ling).

These players do a great job showing a lot of strings, setups and tricks that Xiaoyu can use to mix up with and deal some serious damage on her opponents. I also like Kiru’s use of supercharged Fortune Cookie (u1+2, 2, 1) after bounds which if connected near the corner can add up to 100+ damage. But use caution when supercharging as you are unable to block now when supercharged.

Hopefully this will spark some more discussion in this thread. I’m preparing for my first official T6 tournament at a local cyber club in the MD/VA area and I hope to do somewhat decently.

Also does does anyone know if for some reason (maybe it’s just me), but is it harder or is there a stricter timing to landing the RDS 2, 2, 221 wall combo on girls compared to the male characters? If you have any idea tell me what you think.

That’s my two cents on Ling for now. Keep fighting hard guys!:nunchuck:

Everything looks correct, for the most part, except the 5th and 7th combos.

For the 5th one, you forgot the RDS before the 4.

For the last one, it should be RDS d+1+4 where you have b. That sample combo actually has Ling doing her low parry in order to cancel RDS, leaving her close enough to finish the rest.

Book says

Which ones are nice? All of them or…

if anyone is up for some ling matches on PSN, hit me up and add me.
i have more fun playing other lings, than playing Law/Bryan all damn day long

Sure, I’d be down for that, if you don’t mind the distance we’d be playing from. Regardless, I think it’d be great to experience the different styles and nuances of other Ling’s, and maybe learn some things as well. I know that it’d definitely help me out.

i tried to add you DBC, but your friendslist is full
GGs DBC and Pixel! i definitely saw some different stuff.
as you can tell…poking is not my forte, and i need to learn spacing

GGs to both of you. Yeah, poking is not mine either, but pretty much was forced to try an poke better against Pixel, because his defense is like a fortress. I tried to space you out, but I ended up eating a lot of hits in the process.

fortress is an understatement for pixels defense…
you need the freakin password and say pretty please before you can lay a finger on him. The only way that i had a shot at pixel was by guessing if he was going high or low, and 9 out of 10 times…i guessed wrong. Yeah i saw you try to space me DBC, that why i tried to pressure you as much as i could. I noticed that if let either of you 2 start to muster something up, i was hanging in the air longer than kobe, so i had to be on you, thats just not that easy with pixel because he’ll wait you out until you do something that has a slow recovery and then you’re screwed. The one thing i did notice was that my strategy was mainly all power moves. Most damage with the fewest hits vs you guys were all about the juggle, which is cool, i guess im not as patient as you 2 lol

lol, definitely some good games.
Good spacing is something to work on, but all you two really need is to walk more instead of dashing into stuff. In Tekken if you tap forward you take a step and you are only vunerable to be hit when your thumb is on the direction. As soon as you go neutral the step the character takes has auto high/mid block the whole way through. Dashing is fine, but if you don’t need that much distance why risk dashing into something.

More specific stuff.
Ezeikial: You need to tone down the risk taking. Her big sidestep low and all of her normal hit launchers are bad on block. You’re high risk/high reward strategy is actually pretty strong, but it can serve you better if you mix in some low risk elements to keep your wins and losses from being practically a coin flip. Level your risk taking out and I see a crowd pleasing Xiaoyu player to be feared.

DBC: Biggest thing is you really didn’t seem to have a purpose for what you were doing. You would go into her sidestep low poke a few times which is a good decision against my poking, but then you would go right back into playing my game of poking. Against Ezeikial, I’m not sure if the lag was bad, but you seemed to be very unsure of yourself. Work on making the opponent play by your strengths, rather than trying to out-do them at what they do best.

Sup everyone, also a Ling player.

If any of you guys want to get some games of Tekken on xbox, I’m down~
