I was trying to avoid emulators since it’s a work PC I’m using, but I remember using FBA at home some years back and it is in fact a pretty awesome emulator…
i have a laptop from 2003 with a decent proc, intergrated graphics card (its garbage) and 1.5 gigs of ram.
i cant run ggpo well enough to play. it runs, but the frame skip is impossible to deal with on cps3 games. sf2 era games might be ok, but i dont play them.
2df on the other hand, is super light weight, and will run on almost anything.
I’d also recommend Wings 2(freeware) if you can find a game online with some people.
Or if you’re hardcore enough, get some rougelikes. They’re sure to run on any old computer, and are complex and addictive. And these days, most of them even come with optional graphical modes, instead of the “everything is made out of letters” classic style.
A personal favorite is Crawl
As for fighters, maybe some doujin game will run nicely. Maybe look into some older ones if the computer is real weak.
If Vanguard Princess (the “works with non-Japanese support” version) and Eternal Fighter Zero Memorial doesn’t run on your computer then is really ghetto.
I always found the Bonestorm commercial in the Simpsons hilarious where it displayed a mortal kombat-esque game of an Asian guy being beat by a tank. A fighting game with a tank? Man that is some strange impossible crazy stuff!
Anything on mame. All entry level PCs from today and up to about 4 years back, EASILY have enough power to play the old stuff(alpha series, KOF, MVC1, etc).
I’d also suggest Final Burn alpha & Kawaks, as those are optimized better, and will run fine on even those really olllllllld comps out there.
I dont know how much RAM do you have so i didnt recommend Big Bang Beat, but maybe you can run it with some luck, some time ago i tried to run the game on a 256MB RAM PC and it works… with some heavy loading times, but works well in-game.
Ah, yeah, also Akatsuki Blitzkampf! how i forget that!!
