Light-Weight Fighting Games for PC

What are your favorite small-sized PC fighting games?

I’m mainly asking because I need a small fighting game to play on my work PC (with extremely old specs) to kill some time.

I had some fun with KoF Wing, a weird Flash port with identity crisis… I’m looking for something a bit more serious but still on the low-spec side…

Suggestions?

FINAL BURN ALPHA…best emulator ive played so far.

but as far as a real PC game? hmmm…mugen? fun to dick around with

yep FBA

lots of great older games at your fingertips.

I recommend jojo’s bizarre adventure, but you cant really go wrong with anything.

I was trying to avoid emulators since it’s a work PC I’m using, but I remember using FBA at home some years back and it is in fact a pretty awesome emulator…

Anything PC bound that works? Or even Flash?

2DF and GGPO run most old stuff pretty well on really low-end PCs.

No linking because of forum rules, but I’m sure you can put 2 + 2 together…

i have a laptop from 2003 with a decent proc, intergrated graphics card (its garbage) and 1.5 gigs of ram.

i cant run ggpo well enough to play. it runs, but the frame skip is impossible to deal with on cps3 games. sf2 era games might be ok, but i dont play them.

2df on the other hand, is super light weight, and will run on almost anything.

I don’t think GGPO will run properly, but I’ll give 2DF a try.

What are some good pre-made Mugen games?

I don’t feel like spending hours to build a good one just for playing a couple of minutes at the office XD

Why fighting games? Hook youself up with some doom man! Hours of fun for sure.

Yeah!
Doom, Blood, Hexen and Heretic.

I’d also recommend Wings 2(freeware) if you can find a game online with some people.

Or if you’re hardcore enough, get some rougelikes. They’re sure to run on any old computer, and are complex and addictive. And these days, most of them even come with optional graphical modes, instead of the “everything is made out of letters” classic style.
A personal favorite is Crawl

As for fighters, maybe some doujin game will run nicely. Maybe look into some older ones if the computer is real weak.

If Vanguard Princess (the “works with non-Japanese support” version) and Eternal Fighter Zero Memorial doesn’t run on your computer then is really ghetto.

Depending on how comfortable one are playing that game at work, of course

Maybe give BBB a try too. It may be broken, but it’s damn pretty and still fun.

Always wanted to try VP actually, thanks for the reminder.

fuck me sideways!!
hell yeah VP is solid as fuck how did i forget about that shit?

VP has decent online as well!

And if they do also give some love for Akatsuki Blitzkampf!

I always found the Bonestorm commercial in the Simpsons hilarious where it displayed a mortal kombat-esque game of an Asian guy being beat by a tank. A fighting game with a tank? Man that is some strange impossible crazy stuff!

… Then came Akatsuki Blitzkampf.

Anything on mame. All entry level PCs from today and up to about 4 years back, EASILY have enough power to play the old stuff(alpha series, KOF, MVC1, etc).

I’d also suggest Final Burn alpha & Kawaks, as those are optimized better, and will run fine on even those really olllllllld comps out there.

Download a Dreamcast emulator and get MVC2.

That’s a great game if all you’re looking to do is mash buttons and talk shit.

SA-NAP

I dont know how much RAM do you have so i didnt recommend Big Bang Beat, but maybe you can run it with some luck, some time ago i tried to run the game on a 256MB RAM PC and it works… with some heavy loading times, but works well in-game.

Ah, yeah, also Akatsuki Blitzkampf! how i forget that!!
