Light-up on activation button mod tutorial

Hey,

perhaps interesting, too. I’m just working for a led mod for Last Hope Pink Bullets Stick. This will be a price for a offical competetion at new release time.

it has initialisation phase blinking up the leds one time. Of cource this init phase can be extended. Then each button has two leds. Default behaviour is to light up in in purple. When button pressed it lights up only in green.

I’ve used for this solution my beloved ATMega8. If you don’t need those init phase then this led mod could me done with a mix up of the inverter method and my inverter less method. I decided to go in the mctrl solution, because I want add further features…

If somebody is interested in this stuff I’ll post schematic and source.

Watch out the video at the end of my blog entry.

Bye

I’m very interested in your modding >_> is it connected through usb or battery? o-o

Modders pm me! I’m looking for somebody who could do a mod for me! Checking out prices of everybodies work. =o

I have a round 2 TE for xbox 360 btw

Neither, via the Dreamcast port in this example, but I’ve tested it on USB, too.

we need a super noob friendly version of this

Bencao i neeed you!

Modders PM ME! I want to talk about LED mods that you could do for me and what the cost would be. ASAP =]

=( where are all the modders at? D:

It’s the holidays, cut us some slack.

I’ve skimmed the thread and apologize if this is easily available somewhere, but:

If I’m doing this with a dual modded stick, is there a problem with wiring up leds as in the following diagram, but with the battery loop removed and connecting the vcc pin to vcc on one of the boards?

I do this all the time.

Michael

Sounds good, looks like voltech might have an led stick coming up.

Do you offer drilled shafts for lightup balltops?

Yes I do. You can get them through LizardLick as well.

So I have been toying around w/ the light up button mod for a few weeks, let me ask you guys a question. I have 2 AA batteries hooked up producing 3.6v. I have white 5mm LED’s that can take up 3.5v. When I hook them up they are very bright (thats what i want) and did not burn up after being lit up for several minutes. So can I just wire it up to the hex inverter w/o any resistors? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just wanted to run it by some of the electrical gods in this forum before I waste a bunch of time.

You will shorten the life span of those LEDs. Get a real small resistor to protect them.

Michael

Will Do! Thank you Sir.

Is there a video tutorial of this?

Any LED modders in canada/usa?

No, they’re all in Argentina.

Sorry, couldn’t help it. Yes, there are a number of modders in the US. Still that information is rather pointless just to know, I assume there’s a follow up question of ‘Who could I get to mod my stick?’. You could try asking that outright, or putting up a post offering to pay for help in the Trading Outlet.

…obviously Toodles was in one of those moods…LOL. Happy New Year, btw.

@xnammerx … just a thought - although i’m sure it’s not intentional, you might want to drop the caps and “imperative” tone… it suggests an impatient and overly-demanding client - not something a trader is likely to be keen on.

Ive reading the whole thread, but im still unsure.
Sorry for asking again, but Im no pro modder.

I have an Madcatz TE Fightstick that I am modding, I am thinking to go with Gremlin solutions LED driver PCB to have the buttons illuminated when you press them.

Now, my question is for voltage:

  • Can I take the +5V and ground from the Madcatz USB and wire it to power the leds, or will that give me problem with other functions?

Thanks for any help.
