Tired of losing to people you?re better than because of bad matchups? Want to get better but lack of competition/place to play? Want to play with top players but never had a chance to?
I have a solution.

To become better, you need training from the best. As you may have heard Team STC is the finest SF team in Canada. Since the dawn of competitive SF in T.O, team STC has always been a strong SF team due to large variety of players and fierce competition that plays together on a regular basis. Coach profile

Eric Hai ? Started as a 3s player, he is widely known as the best Ryu in Canada. Expert of combos, frame traps, and option selects. Top player from MTL, Freddyloco referred him as ?The cleanest SF player in Canada?. His innovative way of combining 3s tactics, lightning fast reactions and advanced option select tactics earned him respect from players all around the country. Some of his past achievements include MAT 7 team tournament champion, MAT singles 3rd place, and multiple JS Master house tournaments champions.

JS Master ? Started as a MvC2 player, he plays MvC2, CvS2, A3, 3S, GGXX #Reload, and SSF4 at a competitive level. His long history in the scene and experiences in a variety of fighting games prepared him to be a top player. Some people may say he?s over rated, however tournament results proved otherwise. Since the launch of SSF4, JS Master received money from every Canadian tournament he entered, and have never lost a singles tournament. He also came in 3rd place in Evo2010 pools by defeating great players like Chris Hu, Mike Wattson, and Combojack. What?s the secret? Come find out!

What exactly is this training program?

A 4 hour session per week, Eric Hai and myself will be training you at my house in areas where you need to improve on. Whether its matchups, footsies, mindset etc? we will have an answer for you. These sessions will be capped at 6-8 people in 2 stations to ensure maximum efficiency for your training. Prior to the end of the training session, players may have MMs or a mini-tournament to test what you have learned and what to improve on.

We welcome all interested players regardless of skill level to join our level up program. The cost will be $10-15 per session depending on the number of players signing up. As this is our first attempt running these sessions, we need to know what the community thinks. Your feedback and comment will be valued and appreciated.

Date: TBA, we?re most likely going to host this on Fridays or Sundays depending on what most players wants.

In addition, we would also like to bring the news of team STC?s plan for future growth. As some of our older soldiers moves on in life, (Arcade legend got married, JDK_Mark?s joining the army) we need new blood in our team! Both Ehai and I thought this training program would be a great source to discover new talents and potential future team members. No one started as a top player, but if you have the potential, perhaps you will be the next member of team STC!

Dear god…

…good lord…

YOU CAME 3RD PLACE IN POOLS!

Not 3rd place at Evo!!!

lol what if I come to ur place and give u a beatdown in mvc2. Do I still have to pay!?

loooooool

As funny as this seems at first… think about how many people have paid to MM these guys, just so they can get a chance to play with them.
I’d personally rather be doing grind sessions like this where I’m getting feed back from the best people who can give it, than just trying to see if I can figure it out, 5 dollars at a time.

Well if you’re offering JS, i think this is a fantastic idea. It’s been a long time, and I know for a lot of the OG heads in the scene it’s hard to open up (seeing as how the scene used to be years ago). Things have changed and it’s good to see STC following suit and seeing the big picture.

Props to JS Master and Eric Hai. PM me more details and i’ll hype it up.

How come blitzman isn’t a coach?

cause blitzman don’t know where he is half the time lol

They’re both the best in my book if that means anything

Although a bit ludicrous at first, I am still intrigued and unfortunately will still consider…lol what a shame. If anything, $10 is good, anymore than that is pushing it.

Good shit guys. An opportunity to level up without having to travel for a couple of hours makes me real happy.

It’s certainly better value than training online with JWong.

I would definitely have taken this up had you guys offered some Rose training.

where exactly is this located?

I would do this if I didn’t live two hours away, lol.

The concept of paying to play SF may sound funny to some people, but i’m actually very serious and motivated to do these sessions.

When I first started playing in 2001, I spent an average of $10/day in the arcade just to play with top players. Fortunantely, I lived close to Games Maximus (A legendary arcade) where many great players played. During the weekends, I would take the bus to Fairview, orbit, or VA/VF to play different players. The scene back then was pretty much the opposite of the friendly, non-competitive scene we have today. People used to trash talk me and make me feel like shit every time I lose. That gave me the drive to get better. This was also the era where Sauga had their weekly tournaments, and I would wake up at 8am every Saturday and take a 3 hour bus ride to Sauga. Slowly as I got better, more and more players are willing to teach me how to play SF. I?m a natural at SF, thanks to many OG members like Jaywang, Prez, Kymah, and original team STC I finally became good.

Going back to my training sessions; this is not just a gathering where Ehai and I can make money. After all these years of playing, I feel it?s time for me to give something back to the community and rebuild the intense competitive environment we used to have by developing newer players. So if you?re here to troll, plz do so on IRC. This thread is for hungry players who have strong determination in improving their game. For those who are interested, feel free to inquire more details by PM or email me at js_master8@hotmail.com

PS. I think I should also justify the $10-15 door fee as money is always the thing that causes problems.
I’ve thought of a long time for the right amount to charge before coming to this conclusion; If i only charge let say $5, alot more ppl will come and my small apartment will be way too crowded. Therefore i decided to charge a bit more and invite only dedicated and determined players that wants to get better. The higher price not only limit the size of the casuals for a better session, but it also gives Ehai and I more incentive to properly train new players.

Thanks for everyone’s support so far. I’ve read all your PMs and emails. Please give me a few days to organize and finalize the details and i’ll get back to everyone as soon as i can. :karate:

I wholeheartedly support this and will try to make it out at least once in a while, although the commute to TO is a real bitch.

cuz the coach must be better than the students

Goodluck to JS and Hai
