Lets play at Gameworks Thursday nights

No way!

We’re also hosting the next Pride PPV. Fedor Emelianenko Vs Royce Gracie. It’s taking place in the redemption area. No holds barred. Judo in the Clinches.

Winner gets a gummy worm.

hell fucking yea

I’m not sure about coming tomorrow. Like… I want to, but I’m getting tired of repeatedly getting beaten by people who are obsessed with playing to win. Always turtling, picking top tier, never having any HEART! To each his own, play your style and don’t change for someone else, but I’m just tired of how easy mode 3s is at a high level once you figure out that all you have to do is poke, then option select parry afterwards to cover your lag and half the time you get a free combo. You pick a top tier character and that combo either A) takes half their life or B) gets you a perfect knockdown without giving them any chance to get up in time to turn the tables. I just feel like it’s the same thing over and over. I truly understand all the 3s hate now, this game is a fucking yawnfest at high levels. Marvel’s 10x more broken but at least it all happens so fast you don’t have time to complain about it or shake your head at the stupid mistake you made.

This isn’t to say I don’t have fun… it’s just not quite close enough to my bag to warrant the drive sometimes. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow. I don’t think you guys care that much but I type fast so it’s kinda just streaming out and looks like I’m really concerned with what you guys think about me coming or not.

I complain too much, sorry, but you know what, some things you can’t change. I need to learn VF5, or get okay at Marvel again or something. I can’t go to gameworks any more for just one game, it’s kinda driving me insane. It all comes out more negatively than I mean it to. I don’t mean to hate on people and their character choice/playstyles really.

EDIT: The worst part is that my matches with the rape are so close that it generally comes down to my small mistakes which are almost always brought on by the fact that I’m playing american button layouts. While I VERY STRONGLY prefer Japanese sticks, I can handle the actual fat bat top american stick for the most part, but it’s the button layout that gets me. That rectangular, way too spaced out button placement just fucks my groove up. I definitely need to figure out when I’m gonna throw a get-together. I can’t stand losing because of a stupid handicap anymore. I’m so much better at the game on my stick. :S

Great weekend read. I bought the hardcover.

It’s a game. There are rules. Don’t limit yourself to your own made-up rules.

But I feel your love for your character. I feel the same way about Hwoarang. There are ways…

shit who the hell am i kidding i never won a tourney

guess what i am tryin to say is that a scene makes you better. losing either makes you want to get better or makes you invent excuses as to why you lost.

everyone plays under the same rule set. choose the character who constantly beats you or figure out why that character beat you and adjust.

the solution is often one and the same.

that’s wisdom from a scrub, motherfuckers

Nevermind.

What is fun for you, winning?

You are playing a fighting game.

There is fun to be derived from losing a well-fought match, to be sure, but come on.

Winning is the point. Getting raped 0-3 constantly is not fun. Believe me, I know. Unless you are a masochist and/or my mom.

Wait.

I meant YOUR mom.

Boo on your edit. Dialogue is fun.

Picking and learning your hated opponent’s character exposes their weakness. You know the cheapness. There are ways to block/counter. And their ways to block/counter (Yomi).

Much love, though.

I feel your pain.

If I could actually formulate what frustates me into words that truly convey what I feel is frustrating me, I probably wouldn’t erase it.

One thing that notably bothered me, unrelated to really anything, was how the Chun player cut in front of me not once, not twice, but at least three times. I know he had headphones on and was in his own world but I wish people would pay a little more attention. There’d be 5-6 other people behind him vs. whoever, and let’s say he’d lose. He’d sit out one game and then just like throw the stool in the spot as soon as that guy left and snag the spot. I didn’t want to have to pull his headphones out of his ear to be a dick and tell him he’s cutting, but he kept doing it. Eh. Part of my frustration, actually, is from not getting to play enough matches. Win or lose, I just want to get a certain amount of play in. When the best players there are cutting in front of those of us who work harder to win, it’s really detrimental.

This was a problem for me as well. I also pretty much had to be a dick and cut to even get a turn, because if I wasn’t fast enough, he would have. Those randoms who were there were asking “how do we get in on this rotation?” and I was like “Well, there are the quick and the people who don’t play, basically”. Which is usually true, as some people know from the awkward staring matches before someone can just walk the fuck up to the machine. However, we never really had enough people that it was a problem to set up a rotation before. Maybe someone should just pay enough attention to make sure we aren’t bickering over this.

Tomorrow if it’s an issue I will be like “hey man I think this guy was actually trying to get in”. Don’t be lame though, I want as many people to come as possible and we are all way capable of communicating, so there’s no need for drama.

Anyway, much love for all, hope to see you on thursday, and street fighter fucking 4 omg.

PS: Tepid, after reading your sig last night I’ve listened to tool all day. Damn you!

Yeah, I’m not trying to like talk about it behind his back or start drama or anything but after the first or second time I made what I saw as clear eye contact with him as I was making my way up to the machine (I had started muttering something too but I’m sure everyone there knows I’m inaudible at times anyway) and he still butted in front of me. That seemed like a pure lack of respect but again, I can relate to wearing headphones and being in your own world so maybe he was just really not paying attention. I definitely was wondering about the other guys who knew how to play but weren’t getting in on the rotation. Anyway, not a big deal, just need to speak up more for the rotation. I want the newer guys to get in on dat shit!

EDIT: Oh yeah A3 is coming. That’ll be a breath of fresh air I hope. I’ve never really played people in that game.

If I’m home/around town I’ll come to GW, but I think my friends might be trying really hard to get me to come to town/hang out. I don’t know it depends how I feel tomorrow. I do wanna go.

. . .IT’S KILLING ME WILL THEY PLEASE MAKE IT 2D AUGH. It’s so not gonna be though damn you capcom!!

Dave I will have your GGAC tonight.

This really sounds like some cry baby shit really. I mean do you ever hear this type of talk from Cali, New York top players? Ken Chun, Yun can all be beat depending on how badly it really pisses you off to lose to them constantly. From every loss I try to understand why I lost, adapt and never give up. I never hear this talk from top lever players, it’s already know how buff chun, ken and yun are.

It’s like complaning about cable ahvbX5. Cable can get dominated so easy by the right openings, but it takes practice and knowledge to be successful aganist him.

I’d like to see people play take the L or the win and keep it moving, that how you learn and get better. I mean look at greyfox, i still dominate him but atleast hes getting better.

Eh? I thought they were bitching about somebody being even more of a turn thief than Cody (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!) was. That’s bogus everywhere.

I won’t be out tonight since my soccer starts at fucking 9PM. =P

wow thanks man. I never play you anymore though. You jet as soon as I show up at gw.

:wgrin:

Mechanicaz, now you know where all the 3s hate comes from. When I am just dicking around in 3s, the game is a blast. But when shit gets serious, it gets HELLA serious and the game is not exactly fun (for me at least) when the game is played for real. So if the rotation is too long on 3s, I would much rather throwdown on marvelicious.

Also, in regards to sticks. That is why I also hate jap sticks with a furious passion. No arcade here uses them. Yet, people still insist on buying them which is fine. However, it is infuriating when you can’t do the shit you typically can while on your preferred stick.

Personally, I’d jus’ like to say that with most games we play, people who play seriously jus’ happen to play like douchbags (no offense to the player, jus’ the style). Whatever though, honestly. They play to win and I play to get better. Yes, I get pissed at losing to some turtle/runaway BS top-tier safe style of play but technically I"m only getting mad at myself.

This is what I do, if I think someone plays like a douche I drop the game when they step up. Saves me from getting pissed, at the least. Only problem I can see with that method is that if you only play one game. In that cae, one would 'ave to learn something else or put up with themselves.

I hear you on that one zero. That’s why I’m like “well hello there ST…”

Yeah, that’s how I feel. It just gets too serious. Oh well though, it’s not as big of a deal to me as I’m making it sound. QQ m i rite

Yeah, basically.

~~

I’m thinking I’ma sit this one out and go to Zero’s tomorrow instead. I gotta work too early and I wouldn’t wanna leave as early as I’d need to. :wasted:

One funny thing is you (may or may not) know how I pick too many characters in every game? I’m excited for A3 because I pick Cody and actually just pick Cody. It’s a strange phenomenon… Sodom is dope too, though.

I’m going today!!!
