I’d 'ave to side with Stuart’s opinion. Basically, as I see it. We pay tem (retarted) money to play on thier cabs and drink thier alcohol… the LEAST they could do is get quality parts.
For ALL that dough they could afford to replace 4 sticks (p1+p2 on both heavy use cabs) once a week and not take the slightest of a hit. (Stick replacement takes hardly no manhours and they probably get thier shitty sticks wholesale so cost shouldn’t be an issue.)
Yep. It was. But when he was bitching to other techs they agreed. So. that basically killed any urges I had to go to GW cept to see Row and Rattana drunk.
Then you must not have gone to Silver Coin when it was around. The second something was awry there somebody was fixing it.
I think if you don’t wanna play on busted controls, you just shouldn’t have to. If they don’t wanna fix it then that’s their decision, but you can’t expect people to wanna show up if that’s the case.
They’re on and off, according to all the big 3s and marvel players there. The controls are f’ed up all the time. They just fix the controls more often than most arcades (thanks to Shogo). Watch the ranbats.
But yeah… from a company as big as Gameworks, you could expect a little professionalism in hiring techs. If they have any reason to complain about customers bitching over controls, they obviously aren’t doing their jobs. As far as I see it, if you’re working 8 hours a day, you should be doing what your job entails for at least 6 1/2 (minus the moving back and forth between areas, quick breaks, and so on). If the (3-4?) Techs that are there every day were doing that much, I’d be willing to bet that there would be no more than one or two cabs in less-than-great condition.
You need to keep in mind that GW has a lot of cabinets. It’s not some little mall arcade. Lots of the games are old, and shit breaks down all the time. Also there are almost never 3 or 4 techs working at once. The techs work pretty hard, and there are almost always several games down.
Nate’s a good guy, give him a break. I think my customer’s are assholes too.
I do agree he can be a bit of an ass about 3s in general but the machine is fucked, so he really should fix it. However, I don’t hold it against him. Don’t see the guy much anymore since he has thursday’s off and doesn’t usually want to be there on his day off. If you actually talk to him, you’ll understand why he’s so bitter, and he tries to fix the machine to an extent.
I remember dave telling me one time: “So I’m playing 3s with nate and he’s like “fucking shoto fireball bullshit”, and I’m like sean doesn’t have a fireball”.
People show up…please?
Also, for the few I played last night I actually played a pretty decent yun. I can’t play ken/chun worth beans, but if people want to see more top tier play, I’m trying to do so.
The highlight of the night was crazy low-tier marvel guy coming to play 3s for the second time ever and almost beating a regular. Maybe we can steal him from you guys.
Finally, while I appreciate advice, don’t tell people how to play their character when 1) you didn’t ask 2)you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. Maybe I’m overreacting but it’s kind of rude to act like you know more about someone’s character, be wrong, and act like a dick.
p.s. stuart when the hell do you show up? I haven’t run into you at gw in like a year.
god i miss silver coin. santiago and the old white guy fixed everything. manny didnt do shi, but he let me fuck witht he ddr fags. and the asian dude played sc2 pretty well hahaha. i miss the fights that i could get away with. i miss the CONSTANT competition in mvc2 and cvs2 and sc2. they had all the games when they were NEW. they even had garou, but it was on the old school neo geo machine. i met so many people at that arcade and i never complained about the controls, because someone always fixed it, then gave you free credits to make sure they worked.
