$1.00 is fine, but more than that is pushing it. To be honest I was surprised it was even a dollar to begin with. I was going in expecting to pay three bucks a pop.
It figures GW would do this but its so bullshit considering ive already felt like the buttons occasionally stick and stuff, not to mention one stick is stiff and one is loose… It just seems unacceptable for something you are paying 1 dollar for.
And honestly I cant see half the players sticking around once the price goes up.
The free card thing is acceptable I guess, thats pretty abusable
possible solutions.
petition to keep the dollar per game play anyone?
its funny because disabling the time function on those cabs is such a hater move. I feel like there can be a better solution to the problem than doing that.
i’ve told every manager thats come through that place about this website and this thread in particular, so its not like they can’t see how the decisions they make towards “our” scene will effect things.
I’m very tempted to put the Pablo comment on SFIV being a redemption game as a sig. That shit is the truth!
Yeah, $1.50 would be pushing it…but $2.00? LoL, you’ve gotta be kidding me. Not only that, but to add insult to injury, they might do away with time cards for SFIV? What a joke. This gives players less and less of a reason to come down, especially when the game hits consoles.
Doing away with time cards seems like a good plan if people are going to abuse them like they’ve been doing. GameWorks isn’t dumb: do you honestly feel that you should be allowed to exploit their pretty darn generous system?
I’d say make it $1 no timecard, but it is a darned expensive game so – whatever it takes to make it worthwhile for them. The key is to be able to buy the new games, let you all play, and keep GameWorks alive. =\
may as well buy like…a $100 card since you get extra credits for it anyway
Gameworks should think about how to retain players for the long term instead of how to gouge the shit out of us until we all stop going
…you mean the players that will stop going once the game gets released on consoles this winter?
They aint running a gamer hostel, and rent downtown aint cheap.
i dont think GameWorks would be gouging us so bad if it werent for requring two cabs/two boards for Match Play though.
I understand that Gameworks wants to get its money back, but 2 dollars a game is ridiculously expensive. I can’t believe they think they can charge that much and still have regular attendance. Were they not meeting the quota they were expecting for the first few weeks?
The only way I will ever consider paying two dollars for a game is if it gets bumped up to three rounds. Shit, maybe even four. That is just insane.
I agree with $1 no time card…but to up it to 2 dollars a play is pretty fucked up to me. I understand that we take advantage of the time card situation, however 2 dollars a match is the way of getting their money back? I would be fine if they made it 1 dollar and no time cards, but seriously, 2 dollars is just too ridiculous. The time card system is generous, however only in cases where people are playing larger priced games (like sf4). Normally time cards are 2 hours = $25. Now that is a LOT of cash for 2 hours of gameplay, especially when you play straight fighting games. The money to time ratio is probably giving a time card holder a SLIGHT bit more cash then someone without.
So what did we do? We all chip in about 4 or 5 dollars a piece…get a time card. We took advantage of their system…but if there was a way to make it so timecards are exempt from a game, why wouldn’t you do that when you first buy it to get back some of that money?
I understand and appreciate the economical way of looking at it from both sides. Shoot, people just got done getting over $1 a game for even playing it…but now $2? It’s just not realistic especially when some players get scraped off of the machine in 40 seconds. I just hope they change it to $1 no timecard…and eventually get money back.
I mean personally, I walk in to gameworks with money already in my card ready to go…It’s not like I don’t pay or anything…it’s just that if I see extra credits in the machine, of course i’m going to use them instead of mine. This is definitely a bad move from gameworks to up it to 2/1.50 to regain their profits. Until they bring it down to a dollar, you won’t see me there.
i love it, let them raise the cost… raise it to 3 dollars please!! come to narrows… its a better place to play anyways!
Wait, are we getting our panties in a bunch about something we have no concrete data on? How about we save lighting our torches for the riot until after they actually make a move here?
Play Samurai Showdown IV or SvC if/when they change the price. Sounds like a good investment to me!
It is official. And it sucks. And worst part about it I almost strictly use time cards cuz my gf works there. And now I have to pay cuz I have to go there to wait for her. I’m not touching 3s or marvel since I don’t plan on plaaying those games competitively. And I fuckin live so close. Ill see if I can talk to them and try to get it to 1.00 or shit even 1.25. Or maybe raise it to best out of 5. Ill be at narrows for sure monday. Better comp better price ands pho is crackin.
Wow…i will say GameWorks screwed themselves out of revenue from SF4, but then again im sure SF4 didnt make as much between 9pm - 12am as it should due to card sharing. Just speculation since i hardly go.
I’ll bet you anything that even after cranking up the price that there will still be enough of a crowd around that machine for Gameworks to not really give a shit.
Yeah until the game comes out on console I won’t give a shit and I will be there.
Although, can we get the exact amount, $2? Yeah that is wack.
Its 1.50 or 6pts.
Bummer…
I prefer Narrows myself, but still had fun, the hot chick laughing and getting into the game when I picked El Fuerte was cool, but Pho is too broken.
