Yep. I have doubts that Japanese developers realize this is a problem. When Blazblue first came out I could barely manage to sit through a single match before having to mute all voices. It’s just noise overload with the characters saying something everytime they moved or were hit or were left idle for more than .1 seconds. Then you’ve got music blaring and an announcer layered overtop of all that as well. It’s just way too much.
Announcer should be limited to Round 1, Fight!, and KO type pre/post match type stuff.
Characters spoken word dialogue (aside from grunts and yells and stuff) should be limited to specials, taunts, and win animations. When you start to get into the practice of giving characters something to say when they toss out normals, that’s overkill.
For the love of god, Settings menu -> Audio setting -> ANNOUNCER ON/OFF. Please. If it’s bad, let me mute it without having to mute all other VO in the game as well. Why is this so hard?
Lol, this. They actually didn’t bother me too much until SF4 (although I always found what the Alpha 3 announcer had to say as very odd), and now it seems like Capcom just can’t seem to get enough verbiage per second in their fighting games. The announcers are bad enough, but every character announcing every single special move, and them having 3-8 syllables each is beyond overkill.
