Lets End This! the MvC3 X-23 Combo/Strategy Thread

Tasky/Missiles can still space the screen incredibly well which invokes the use for smart X23 execution. His j.H really beats out of alot things X23 wants to do, and he counters all of X23’s main supers.

It’s not so much him being cheap than rather being a nuisance-type of a character vs. Laura.

I put him on the kill list because of laura specifically. I would say snap him but he’s even worse when all he has to do is throw you once or twice and super to kill you because of XF.

Try this for a reset strategy:

Perform you best or favorite ground loop. End it in a c.H soft knockdown (typically the last two buttons will be s.M, c.H). Now because x loops are easy to drop you opponent is nearly guaranteed to be holding back. As soon as you make contact with c.H, cancel into MF-M. When you land, perform a s.L then hold up. Do an instant air j.M and you will hit your opponent’s wake up standing animation meaty (even if they wake up crouching). You can than j.dH to combo into her L dive kick and do what you want.

Note*** any time you hit an aerial opponent with a c.H into soft knockdown, the timing sequence will not change given they back tech (mf-m on contact, s.L, instant air j.M). If you hit c.H versus standing, omit the s.L.

As usual, I play x/ammy so I’ll add this. All you have to do is tap the assist button at the same time as the c.H. It’s not perfect for neutral techs but it covers the forward tech…

Oh and this is my favorite combo for this.
s.L, s.H, MFL (or MFC), s.L, s.H, MFH, j.M, j.M, j.H, land, j.M, j.H, j.S, Dive Kick L, s.M, c.H…

Whats the most optimal beginner combo for X-23

Check out our Penultimate thread, should have combos there.

So I checked my bracket for Final Round and I’ll be dealing with Kane Blueriver and Xian. Tips for Laura vs. Haggar/Hulk? I’m used to playing Xian’s characters but Kane’s big body team is new to me.

Umm…Play IM+Log…

Hulk + defensive assist is pretty much a baiting game. Personally, I would try to play a zoner for that matchup instead of X23 since I feel you’re gonna be at a disadvantage. Hulks biggest weakness is the lack of strong mobility options. Just look to keep spacing him out while moving backwards and then SJ over and keep that going from the other side. I’m not sure how well Strange/Ammy can run that matchup, but IM+Log is really strong in that matchup. Just make sure you’re always respecing gamma charge range. Once you get a good zoning pattern going Hulk will have to start bunny hopping or SJing so make sure you’re going for throw punishes or dash in and meet him with an early air to air since he doesn’t have any armor on his air options and they’re all relatively slow. I’m sure Wandles would be happy to get some matches with you Thur/Fri to help you get ready for that matchup.

For Hulk, if you have someone that will try to stay full screen with gamma wave use empty wall jumps and look for a chance to punish with a late j.M or S. Otherwise try to space him out and dash in with an early c.M and make sure you let it hit twice. Still not the greatest thing in the world but you’ll still beat out s.H/M pretty often with that. If the hulk isn’t familiar with the matchup, watch for him to use gamma charge towards > away and dash in for the punish since X23 is fast enough to punish it. Always expect a gamma charge so make sure you’re not calling assists in a range that will get you HBD’d for free.

I’m terrible at the Haggar matchup, my advice would be to try to find some matches between DapVip and FR|Roachking (probably one of the best haggars playing atm) and see how the matchup runs for them. Supposedly you can stuff bunnyhop pipes with dash j.l > Confirm. The few times I’ve went for it I’ve gotten bopped, but I assume it’s because I was hesitating.

I have MarlinPie in my pool…luckily that the only terrifying name and the few other guys that had vids on youtube of their matches were pretty lackluster. We’ve got me and an ATL MODOK in there so maybe we’ll get lucky and be able to random him out…

Well for zoning I’ve got some faith in Strange for stopping Hulk since Hulk’s attacks are all pretty telegraphed it should be easy to get around and build a pattern for. I figure if I get the touch on Haggar I’m gonna snap in Sentinel. That way I don’t have to deal with Hulk backed with Drones and I take away his anchor.

Does X-23 get instant overheads on Hulk? And dude, you got Marlin? I’m jealous, I really wanted to play him in pools.

I’ve been playing AB Jan a lot lately (beat him in tournament, too!), so i’ve got some exp. The weird thing about playing big bodies is you have to play patient. Call assist, dash in, block, dash back. Against hulk, you can poke a bit with st.M, cr.M, but I still prefer letting my assist do the work

Under no circumstances allow yourself to be blocking drones. Getting into lockdown is literally the only way Hulk or Haggar should be able to hit you.

X23 does get instant overhead on hulk, but the spacing is more sensitive. Neutral jump m is more reliable than jump toward m, but then d.H doesn’t combo reliably. If you wanna make instant overhead a part of your gameplan vs hulk, it’s best to practice the instant j.MxxL-talon. Honestly, though, whenever you go for an instant overhead on hulk, you run the risk of getting st.H-ed.

Haggar: the two best ways to beat pipe is a predictive j.l, or a dash-under, antiair st.m. Both are scary and require your reactions and execution to be on point. The safer thing to go for imo, is just airthrow. if you catch them in the startup of pipe, you’ll get the throw, and if you do it early, you’ll get a tech.

The safest thing to do is never be in the situation where you need to block pipe and let your assist handle it, lol.

Here is Kane vs an x player… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeqxUQJulAw
It shows more skrull than x, but you can get an idea of what’s to come…

How did he do so well at US v The World…that was awful…

Maybe they were splitting?

Once again, good luck to those of you going to FR. I’m on Spring Break so hopefully one of you guys can make the stream vs. good player and rep Laura good.

I’ve been in the lab with log again, dunno why I am just noticing you can link a charged neck slicer off the wallbounce (as long as it is not near corners).

Yeah, I’m barely above a scrub, and even I see so many things wrong. But I can’t argue against results, so good job winning.

Does anyone happen to already have the list of chars the WXP to snapback link works on?

I haven’t tested it on everyone, but everyone I’ve tried it on works.

It seems to be pretty much the same as the OTG > Snap link.

My BnBs usually end with WXP so this can be good for me.

Ehh…if you’re not gonna kill with WXP, don’t do WXP. Just snap. They’re gonna get the life back from the meter most likely post snap, anyways.

The only place I can see it being useful is in situation where you don’t have a worthwhile DHC for it or if you’re against their last character and have XF and are near a corner.

There’s a few places you might land a WXP with no possible followup except snap. Even though it’s rare, it’d be good to know. I guess I’ll grind it out eventually and let y’all know the results.

btw, after a snapback on their anchor, you can XFC, dash, and go straight into a jump loop from anywhere on screen.

Eventually meant “now”.

PS Vita version. Done manually. Marked “yes” on success, marked “no” after 3 failed attempts.

Assuming the vita version is a perfect port (i’ve heard it may not be - someone test a few out for me).

That’s kind of a bizarre list of works/doesn’t work…

Why would it work on lights and heavies, but not mids?
