Not really on the canceling. Technically it’s the difference between a link and a cancel. Doing L>M>HxxQcbH is just saying that the MH cancels out the animation on the H as opposed to waiting until you go back to neutral and linking the attack. Practically, I don’t know if anyone really cares and it really means that you should be doing the move faster. (Super technically, Marvel runs mostly on chains rather than links so really we’re canceling the lmh too…meh)

Alright, that makes sense. Thanks alot!

What is the best way get through Captain America’s shield throws and deadpool’s gun/grenade spam?

The easiest and most effective way is to use a beam assist to force them to block, then wavedash in (with the fastest wavedash in the game.)

Otherwise:

Shield throw: be brave and dash under it. The shield stops being active if you get Cap to block or get hit by an attack.

Deadpool: be patient, do a lot of jump forward blocking. Don’t pushblock.
Here’s the safe method:

 • Any time he does standing guns, walljump over and block.
 • Any time he does jumping guns, dash forward and block.
 • Any time he throws a grenade, jump over it, dash, then block.
 • Repeat until you’re in distance to attack - it shouldn’t take long.

Unsafe method: M talon dive over when you predict standing guns. Wavedash in 2-3 times when you predict a grenade.

Fighting against zoners requires you to methodical and patient until you’ve gotten close enough. If they manage to push you out full range again, be patient and do it again.

Thanks, jaytoo! Your advice was very helpful and it made a lot of sense. I will try them out!

Hey, got another question. I like to wavedash and footsie alot and often end up hitting an cr.M on an enemy that’s not blocking low online.
Most of the time i just follow up with H,cr.H,S or qcb.M; but i don’t really know what to do after that. Is there any simple BnB after a launch that even a mediocre player can do online? No MFCs obviously =P

I’d give you a list of combos, but I’m sorry to say, you’re gonna have a really hard time pulling out X-23’s combos online, unless you’re very fortunate. I’d get an OTG assist personally for simple combos into relaunches.

I’m using Felicia and I’ve gotten pretty decent at OTGing into Ankle Slices with her online, so relaunches shouldn’t be a problem.

If Cap does a jump shield throw I’ve been dashing up and air throwing him. Since I run with an otg assist that’s an easy relaunch into combo and that shield throw leaves them in recovery for so long I don’t even think they have a chance to tech.
quick edit: Most of the local caps like to call their assist along side the shield throw and the air throw will usually get you out of that as well.

yeah feint combos can be a pain in the ass online, best bet is to match up only with people near you for a realistic possibility.

800k (almost!) 1 meter, hella dmg scaling

Very nice Ephidel! I have the exact combo, except I use Nova instead of Wesker for the OTG. 816k! <3

Exactly that’s why I’m asking.
I’m also fairly new to the game still so I find it hard to just copy combos i see in videos, and I hardly find any combos written down/transcribed here

My x-23 combos are as follows:

 1. Ground series
 2. Air series
 3. relaunch with OTG assist
 4. Air series again,
 5. Ankle slice xx hyper (OR run a mixup)

I’m perfectly capable of doing an optimal damage feint combo offline, but I tend to do the easier combo anyways, since I don’t want to drop anything in high stress (i.e. tournament).

Combo builder:
Ground series = LMH -OR- c.LMH
Air series = sj.MMH, Crescent Scythe, L-talon (CS is optional on the first series. The two mediums are also optional.) If you’ve done a heavily scaled combo up to your second (or third) relaunch, CS is not optional.
Relaunch = call an OTG assist, and immediately charge ankle slice. Relaunch with H, S, or just S.

This is definitely sub-optimal in terms of damage, but I tend to run X-23 second or anchor - and her x-factor lvl2 combos are easy quasi-infinites.

exactly what I was looking for, thanks a ton <3

…I just realised something after watching Evil Toaster’s vid on the front page.

OK, take this:

Or you can just wavedash on someone’s wake-up and autotrack them. Now, couldn’t you use Burning Kick to create an OS unblockable? Needs testing.

In a related thought process, you could probably set up some unblockables with Viper on point as well.

Sigh… but Viper is so much work…

Nice topic!! helps so much

thnx

Check out 14:35, not sure if this is new but I was watching the video and thought I’d share

Thanks for sharing, but not new. Somebody here (forgot who exactly) mentioned that, and it actually saved me once. My Taskmaster had almost no life and I was knocked down. Opponent stood next to me and tried to chip to death via Chun-Li’s fireball super. I cross-over countered and knocked Chun-Li out of it. First time trying, so I didn’t get a full combo from it. Nice trick though.

Something that sucks is that I’m used to having X-23’s OTG assist. It’s not the best in the game and I really don’t use it often, but I do have high/low mixups with Task’s Spidey Swing and helps me combo with Magneto, Taskmaster, and Dorm when I have them on point and they are in the corner. Haven’t decided if I really want to switch X-23’s assist or not.
