The last i heard is that LabZero was waiting for all the dlc chars to be done for the arcade relese to happen. My guess is that when Robofortune is out, we will be near the arcade release.
ain’t no one gonna play that trash when it hits arcades over here. It’s gonna be buried somewhere between rumblefish2 and the much maligned (yet perfectly fine) battle fantasia on one of the multicabs.
MikeZ is a talented dude and invested a lot of time and effort but at best it will only ever be niche. Should have just targeted the PC doujin market and lived in obscurity.
Well I guess my opinion mainly stems from my bias against team based fighters. while I do like to experiment with most of the cast in a fighter, I only learn like one or two to play at a competitive or at least competent level. So in a fighter where you must learn multiple characters, and how well they work together, yeah that’s bad for me. With such a small roster ( Only one character shy of matching Vampire Savior’s or SF3’s initial roster size ) I would’ve loved for it to be a singles game. As for the rest,
I don’t mind the aesthetics but they definitely don’t have the universal appeal of say Street Fighter’s.
Matches can easily become one sided even with good players playing definitely, so imagine how a new player would feel. I think this is more prevalent in team based or combo heavy fighters.
So true, the combo system and chains in this game is just stupid easy. Like with so many multiple hit normals and that LONG hitstun duration, anyone can do combos with a lil practice.
My bad, I thought since the loctests happened awhile ago it had already been released in arcades.
I will say about SG what may seem to be a large barrier to outsiders is memorizing all the variations and very long combo sequences (like dozens of inputs) and when you can hit them. The other thing is the perception that it is a perverted all female doujin fighter, though it actually has 2 males thusfar! The final thing, is people who see it as a tribute to MVC2 might just play MVC2 or MVC3.
I am seeing a lot of valid points on both sides here. I was in a very Hype moment when I made the OP, and just needed to throw it out there. At the end of the day if the game doesn’t hit the main stage I wouldn’t be heartbroken, but I would flip if it did make it. I just love fighting games, and it is one of my favorite ones to play/grind out. I think it deserves its time in the spot light just like so many other games I could mention. We have an amazing genre of games that just need to keep growing.
So how many different skullboxes can you play as? 6?
They most be running out of hues for those cute and colorful cubes by now, and to be honest I never thought a game featuring fighting trapeziods would ever catch on. Truly this is an open minded community if there ever was one.
Yeah I’m aware you can play Solo. I play Solo with Ms.Fortune. But it seems going solo puts you at a disadvantage. Sure you’re stronger, but have fun dealing with all kinds of assist without any of you’re own to counter them.
I ran solo Bella for a long time. Once you touch a character then they’re pretty much almost dead. And if you happy birthday the assist character is guaranteed dead. Giving up an assist for retarded damage isn’t so bad.
Skullgirls should be at EVO every year regardless of whether or not it’s on the main stage. It’s a fighting game, ain’t it? There IS a community for it. Why the hell would it not be there in some shape or form. Who even cares if it’s a main stage game? It should just be there.
I’m seeing a lot of people who clearly haven’t actually played the game for more than two hours, as well as a lot of people who seem to think Skullgirls is supposed to be a poverty doujin game.
Can we have a rule that people who don’t play a game aren’t allowed to discuss it?
There are a lot of great high quality poverty doujin games that I would rather play than Skullgirls. I’m not even sure how this string of words in this order is supposed to invalidate someone’s claims or how being a “poverty doujin game” is supposed to be an insult.
