Yo guys, hope you’re having fun at the BBQ. Wish I could come, but I’m on my way to pick up a Street Fighter II Champion Edition cabinet. So it looks like it’s about time to start really learning that game. :rock: I’m so psyched, I’ve wanted one for so long, and this one is a really good price. I’ll throw some pictures up tonight when it’s all set up. I’m going to look into getting 3rd Strike and MvC2 for it. I haven’t seen one for sale yet, but I really really would love to just get Super Turbo for it, as that’s the entire cast. If anyone knows of that Jamma for sale, pass the word along.

Man I just got this thing in! What a night. Ok so it’s an old Marvel Vs Capcom 1 cab. 25 inch monitor. Looks pretty decent. I want to change out the stick and buttons. I have an extra JLF and 6 Sanwa buttons. Need to get some more. I really don’t like how the American style setup feels. I wonder how much it would cost to get someone to fill and route the buttons to Japanese style.
Going to need to get some epoxy to fill some small old screw holes and cracks and paint it up. Get a SF2 Marquee and plexi and this thing will look like a champ! Good times ahead Lehigh Valley! We’lll have to plan something soon. If someone wants to come over this week and get some games in, hit me up.
Nice. To get the Japanese buttons in there, you’d need to rebuild the top part. Let me tell you though, even Japanese players use the US layout for MvC2. The straight setup is more effective, as you don’t play in the same position that you play the other fighters for.
Message PC1x1 on here. He’s got the best layout, in my opinion. I use one of his sticks actually, and it’s some hybrid between US and Japanese style.

You don’t want square gates for MvC2 though. Octagon or round for the win. There’s too many spin motions you need to play it.

Well remember, the Jamma is Street Fighter, it’s just an old MvC 1 Cabinet. Regardless, I hate the American style layout. It doesn’t work for me at all. Played a few games last night. Crappy bat top and concave buttons. Gave the cab a nice scrub down last night. I’m looking at getting a Champion edition marquee and plexi. I def want to get the layout done Japanese style.
Right, but you’ll get carpal tunnel if you plan on playing MvC2 on a Japanese layout. Unless you just want to screw around with the game, then it’s no big deal.
Otherwise, you’re just better off rebuilding the panel for japanese buttons. US buttons are smaller, so you’d have to start putting putty and fillers in to compensate when you redrill. The middle punch/kick buttons are going to wreck the rest of the layout.
I dont play mvc2 hardcore, but i play it on my ps3 with my TE no problem. I don’t see how that causes carpal tunnel. Japanese layout is a lot more ergonomic for my hands. Anyone know of someone who would help me get this project going? I really want to get this layout done soon. Also as I’ve stated. I’m a SF player. If I got MvC, it’s just for some friends to play more than anything. I know my brother Banicale, Matt, Levi, and his friends were really into it. I don’t get that game very much, give me SF any day.
Besides, i want this to be my custom cab, suit my style ya know. Clean it up, make it play sexy and have fun on it. May decide to sell it though should I come across a candy cab, which is what I truly want.
