Legendary character nerfs?

This is from a capcom game.
Fireball became little burst in front of him.
Tatsu removed.
Can not combo after a command grab.
Infinite Removed.
Hitboxes changed to be more vulnerable.

You would think this was enough to make a character low tier.

Sentinel got a damage reduction from 1,000,000 to 800,000. Either way he is dead in one combo on most top tier teams.

Ivy was top tier in SC3 and SC4. Top 3 or Top 5.

She Hulk was the only one who really got nerfed in this.

If memory serves the main thing that made CvS1 nak such a beast is that she has a ton of ways to open you up off a knockdown based on her speed and just her moveset. No one else in the game had that kind of mixup option, but the other solid characters were stupid good in other ways (Guile’s everything and Terry’s Power Dunk pressure come to mind). Short version :the game had a good number of top characters, but Nakororu was head and shoulders better than them.

I don’t recall most people liking the R3 and R4 characters just because the ratios weren’t as well defined in terms of life and damage as they were in cvs2, but nearly all the R1s were solid team choices too.

With that in mind, Cvs1 King - as well as Yuri and Vice - fell off hard in the transition to CvS2.

If you recall, early tier list for Super had Chun as top tier. During the first few months, we had players like Ricky Ortiz who were doing pretty well with her. The way we were playing the game back then is quite different from how we are now.

kirby from smash 64 to melee. he went from arguably the best in 64 to (what some would say) the worst character in melee. falcon and ganon got hit pretty hard from melee to brawl due to system changes, but nowhere near as bad as kirby did

Those are just 2 off the top of my head that got hit alot harder with the nerf stick 97 to 98, despite all there changes/ nerfs they are (robert terry mary yamazaki) are still decent in 98

Pretty much the second part. They nerfed her anti-air and lowered her already low damage. She also already had a really hard time with rufus (6-4 against her). Also mostly even matchups against other characters and that was before offensive street fighter iv was mastered. Akuma and Cammy would have for sure been bad matchups also had the game had more time. She wasn’t dominate by any means other than against gief. Also the new offensive street fighter was still being learned because now derp ultra didn’t risk 60%+ of your life. If the game had fleshed out she likely would have dropped quite a bit and characters like Cammy, Akuma, and Fei would have went up.

Also the ridiculously easy OS’s that beat all of Chun’s defensive options weren’t widely implemented like they are today, so her defense seemed much stronger because of backdash not getting punished as often. They likely nerfed an upper mid to mid tier character to low tier with those changes.

CE to HF Bison and SI to 3S Sean are the only real answers. I’m seeing a lot of mid to bottom, or top to mid, but CE Bison and SI Sean went from the top of the top to borderline unplayable. There are no other nerfs as insane as that.

Sasquatch? Fireball (Big Snow) to little burst (Big Breath), Tatsu (Big Cyclone) removed, don’t know about command grab, infinite (dash LK, LP, HK (2 hit) x n) removed (HK was made into a 1 hit move, so that loop didn’t work anymore), and in general vulnerability boxes in Savior were bigger than the two previous games.

Yeah, it was sasquatch. I guess it’s just way harder to hit the opponent after the command grab in savior.

Theres also the second arcade version of 3rd strike, it removed urien and oro’s unblockables and I think fixed the glitch with Chun Li and Ken’s low forward into supers. The game was hated by Japanese players and so it didnt last.

cvs1 nakoruru was fuckin broken. the game was all about jumping lk. other character had stupid good j.lk, but hers just leads into a 50% combo and into a knockdown. in cvs2, her b&b didn’t do nearly as much damage nor stun, its harder to link and her j.lk doesnt have enough hitstun to combo at certain ranges.

her ground blade was semi-safe on block if distanced right. in cvs2, its always unsafe on block. its pretty damn fast too.

same with her air diving blade. in cvs1, it was safe/semi safe, possibly even give you an advantage on block, but in cvs2, its always punishable on block.

cvs1 nak can kill you in 4 ways. walk up lp, walk up hp, ambiguous j.lk into combo into death or just zone you out with the bird. there was no air blocking in cvs1 and rolling had a frame or two of vulnerability before initiation.

CT Rachel from BB was arguably one of the strongest characters in the entire series (Let’s ignore Kokonoe) and she dominated.

CS1 Rachel was easily the worst character in the entire series. The absolutely demolished her with no remorse.
