Could’ve sworn it was his standing fierce that was amazing. Another character that got the nerf bat was Ibuki. People always mention 2i Sean but Ibuki is supposed to be just as fucking nuts (remember reading the same about Akuma).
Well I would say Burai in BBBR since he was consistently nerfed in every update and lost things that were kinda important to him, but he’s still a top 3 in that game character so lol.
Before her whole game plan was build meter and occasionally rush down into an infinite. Compared to that her shit meter build (even on hit) and mediocre damage are pretty big problems, seeing as the only useful things about her are her supers. Basically, they took a character that was heavily reliant on meter to be effective and switched them from fantastic meter build to dogshit meter build.
UMvC3 Tron. Her assist was nerfed to the point of being useless, plus her point game was nerfed too for no reason. She went from essential on a team to completely garbage.
On the other hand, Haggar’s assist was nerfed but is still good, and his point game was buffed, allowing him to still be a viable character. What the fuck, Capcom? Why is Haggar allowed to still be decent but not Tron? Shit ain’t fair.
Kill Shred could be launched left, right, or up regardless of which direction Donovan was facing.
Blizzard Sword was a completely different move. Ice-covered sword would fall down from the top of the screen at an angle, at varying distances (comparable to Anakaris’s coffins).
Hop kick was an overhead.
Dive kicks didn’t bounce off on block.
Change Immortal would connect several times on block, doing massive chip damage.
Worst nerfs on the whole (in terms of sheer drop in power in ONE revision) that I can think of, even though everyone’s always said them, are BlazBlue CT > CS1 Rachel and SF3 2I > 3S Sean.
Sean’s nerf was always kinda mildly amusing to me because I wasn’t around for the 2I days. His nerf was just a historical curiosity to me.
The Rachel nerf was a bit more of an eye-opener to me because BlazBlue was a new franchise (at the time) and I was actually involved in the scene to see it. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, partially because I played Rachel (kinda) in CT, but also because I got the sense (somewhat justified, over the history of BlazBlue) that ArcSys would do this kinda reactionary crap every time the BB revision turned over. Cast the current top tier into the abyss, over-buff the bottom tier (I miss you CS1 Bang, I really do…fuck Litchi though lol), repeat the process until finally characters like Jin (the Fei Long of BlazBlue) are top tier. Hate that kind of whack-a-mole balancing.
Ironically some of the best examples AGAINST that character-balance policy I’ve seen have been in a game about half a dozen play – that being JoJo All Star Battle. The top tiers in that game got only lightly nerfed over the course of three patches, and most of the lower-tier characters got LOTS of buffs to make them both more fun and more viable relative to the top-tier characters. CC2 has actually done a SURPRISINGLY good job fixing that game with its patches – it’s just a shame hardly anyone will notice.
wish I could bro, I just remember reading that Condor use to be one of the best characters, if not the best, in Breakers like his Tamahoo was OP and such. I’ve only played Revenge and I enjoy grapplers and hearing that he use to be even better in the previous game made me salty so I put it in the list lol. In Revenge he’s like mid or low mid tier.
I think I remember Condor being like bottom of B tier in Revenge, which is still pretty good. I just don’t know about any character specific changes from the original Breakers to Revenge.
