Learning stick is making me rage

Been playing SFIV since vanilla, have essentially mained gief throughout playing and I played on a ps3 pad. I’ve played stick before at arcades and occasionally during casuals with friends but of course my play is ass with it as im used to a ps3 pad. Just a few weeks ago I was finally able to afford my own stick and grabbed one during the SCV $100 sale.

Now i’m seriously trying to play with a stick better then I can with pad so I can ditch it but holly fuck is it frustrating getting destroyed on xbl as I miss countless 360/dp motions and how terribly slow overall I am with it.

I know this thread has been made ten million times and im creating it fresh out of getting raped online BUT where are so good concrete threads/webpages I can read up on to ease this grueling process. Also do I “correctly” use a stick? Example being I was using my thumb 90% of the time to hit light kick, my friend noticed that and told me the correct way is to move your entire hand down so your pressing the bottom row of buttons with the same fingers you use up top. (Basically using your index/middle/ring for all 6 button presses all the time) are there any big tips like that so im not learning to play with a stick the wrong way?

Thanks again fellas

It’s all about what you feel comfortable with. Just practice motions until you have them down on each side 100%.

Keep playing until your good with stick? There’s no shortcuts to learning execution. You’ll just have to practice more and more. There is nothing I can tell you nor are there any articles on the internet that can tell you something that will make you better at execution with stick. Just use it how you feel comfortable using it, and keep playing more and more and more and more and more.

I just got a stick myself. Does you stick have a square gate? Mine did, and I mainly play Marvel do the DP motions were a must. I changed out my square gate with an octagonal one and now I’m owning online. Well that and practice of course. Just keep at it, it took me a while to figure out what button config was the right one for me.

I play on a Hitbox and let me tell you, since after getting it in mid February I’m just barely now able to some of the technical stuff I can do on pad. It just takes time, that’s all. Youve probably been playing pad since you were a kid, so no wonder it’s so ergonomic for you.

Read the stickies before asking questions. Please do not curse in thread titles.
