Flash in place of clarity. MPen is pretty much always better since it scales with AP.

Alright, cool. I’ll mess around with flash and summoner spells but I’ll definitely put MPEN reds in there once I get the IP to buy them.

Now what about a build?
My typical build is Dorans Ring, MPEN boots, Rod of Ages, Rabbidyns Deathcap, and then the situational items.
I have a lack of understanding on caster items, as I really don’t know what stats benefit a character the most (like more MPEN, more AP, or items with actives, etc.)
My build so far works really well, but I want to make it better and I don’t know HOW to make it better. Halp! :tup:

I’d actually say teleport is ALWAYS better than clarity. It does every clarity does, but is also a full heal and lets you buy and gives you map control. The only thing that clarity does better is help team mates(almost worthless, unless you are in a premade and plan for a clarity lane most people are self sufficient) and let you OOM bait people. I’d say with those tradeoffs teleport does basically the same thing and it’s advantages are way better. Ideally though you can just manage your mana well though and you can grab something awesome like flash.

AP per level reds and yellows are TERRIBLE, they give 1.8 AP each at level 18, or 16ish ap(that’s essentially a dorans ring of AP at 18, much less at lower levels). That’s 45ish extra damage at level 18 assuming you hit your target with both hits of your ult and your snare. I’d drop both. Blues are almost twice as effective though and are a perfectly fine choice(especially since they have less competition than those other two).

I can only really help by telling you how I build and play her. My win % in ranked with morg is roughly 70% when I played. The summoner spells I choose are either clarity/flash clairvoyence/flash or flash/ignite. The first set I use when I am 2v1 the 2nd one is when I am playing solo so I can help my team mates since most of the time they don’t buy wards and are oblivious and the last setup is when I want to be more aggressive. Morgs survivability is stupid good and even more compounded with flash. So if you are confident here is my pro morg build. Mana crystal 2 hp pots-> catalyst arcane tomb-> mejais lvl 1 boots -> merc treads and either needlessly large rod or the 860 one -> deathcap and banshees.

Morgana gets tons of assists and some decent amount of kills while being able to stay alive rather easily even when using the ult. Mejias pays for itself faster than any other item in this game and really decides how hard you can hit late. It is a must and in this build should not be subed out.

My runes are pretty simple and not optimal but really don’t need to be for her. Red magic pen, yellow mp per lvl, blue magic pen and quint flat hp. She doesn’t need early ap for anything really. Start with her Q early then max soil first while getting 1 of black shield at lvl 4.

optimal would probably be getting CD reduction blues and possibly different quints.

ashe is no longer a good mid champ imo. so many champs can out lane her now.

she is still viable against some but still would rather see another hero at mid.

So MPEN for reds and mana regen yellows is what you’d recommend? Didn’t know AP per lvl was so bad. I’ve never noticed cause it seems to work for me so far. Granted, I don’t play ranked. So the level of skill might be quite different.

NO offense man but the new champ got no hype around and I am sure someone mentioned it was unoriginal.

Otherwise yea. I am digging the new Cassi and Sona. Ryze still be OP yo.

so I’ll list out some of the best runes for each slot.

Reds:
Arpen flat
MagPen flase
Attack speed(junglers only) i don’t actually know if this is fla or per level
attack damage(akali only) flat

yellows:
dodge flat
armor flat
health flat or per level
mana regen per 5 per level
attack speed(jungler only)

Blue:
Magic resist per level
cool down reduction flat
ap flat or per level
attack speed(jungler only)

Quints:
Health flat
mana regen per 5 per level
Ap per level or flat
Movement speed

Those are generally the best things to get in the best color, you CAN get some stuff in other colors but they are generally much worse.

edit: also no runes are ‘bad’, 16 extra AP is 16 extra AP you’ll do a bit more damage, it’s just that other stuff will make you even more better!

truth. Im working on my AP and mpen setups.

With heavy AP and nukers i have a 19Mpen(quints/reds/glyphs)/3.1mana regen rune page and it fucking hurts. Im working on a pure AP page because i hear its silly, you can get up to 62 or 69 AP (forget the number) with tome and ignite at level1.

thats what i run. 25 ar pen for one page and 19 m pen for other page.

i was thinking of doing that too. all ad(+21.69) or all ap(+34.38) page.

yeah I’m 1 AP flat quint away from my akali rune page, blow people up at level 1 if they come close to me! Also both passives active without any items.

I wish they let you surrender at 10 minutes or something when there’s an AFK asshole on your team. Fuck that shit.

Westrice has a horrible rune page for Akali. She doesn’t need the AP at all. You should be buying a tome for your first item every game and a HP pot to help the lane. You’re using Runes for something you’re going to get anyways. You get 9 flat damage because it’ll round up with 1 point in brute force. 13-16-1. Extra HP and a little more survivability early game goes a long ways. You build into a hextech revolver for more survivability and you’re set for boots and whatever item you need.

I mean different strokes for different folks but maximizing your red’s are crucial and CD’s or MR blues could be bank depending on what team you’re against.

Just for general people… 40% reduction on items is meant for those without pen runes. So it makes them a viable item for anyone who’s trying to a different build. Like for Garen, i prefer building him crit because it gives him more damage on Spin2Win. It used to be able to do double damage but they nerfed that part :frowning: I just found that out yesterday and assumed my spin 2 win was doing as much damage as before.

And flat armor is just bad.

Caitlyn and Urgot would like a word with you. For that matter Pantheon, too, though no one really plays him anymore. If you are saying it’s bad on Akali specifically, that’s a point you can argue, but there is nothing wrong with flat armor runes. As Westrice has often said himself, he runs 21 offense and flat AP because he plays SUPER aggro from early on. In order to dominate that way, the early damage helps a lot. It’s the same reason he runs ignite/flash. If you have found a setup that works better for you, grats, but that doesn’t somehow make one of the few high ELO Akali players suddenly terrible.

Also CDR and Magic Pen are not somehow mutually exclusive upgrade paths. CDR lets you cast more often, and Pen makes your casts hit harder. I fail to see what having Pen runes has to do with CDR. CDR is a more support stat, but supports who do any sort of damage usually have pen runes, too.

so i’m on my second day of playing. i’ve been using Caitlyn. is she worth spending time with or does she suck?

I think Caitlyn is fine. She’s not a dominant carry, but she isn’t bad. If it works for you go for it.

12.69 Armor doesn’t mean shit to his 19 pen and you’re also got out scaled at level 7 or some shit. Probably more like level 5. So you’re making a runes to counter 3 heroes, 2 of which suck ass late game. My facts can’t change your opinions though.

CDR is not just for support brah. CDR can be applied to almost anyone.
