Its becoming more frequent that when a player rage quits on you, you are given a loss. I think I’ve spotted why.
Notice in this video, near the end of the video the other player quits the 2nd time, the remaining player (me) is automatically put into another game session but is not actually connected to that game session. Infact it looks like when the guys quits, it puts me in his place on the left and then somebody else joins the vacant spot on the right, so in effect its counting me as the quitter.
That is very strange. It looks a little different on the PS3, but the outcome is still the same. There are a select group (maybe 3-4) of ragequitters that when they quit against me always counts as a loss for me. I’m not sure what they are doing when they quit, but they have obviously figured out a way to work the system, which is unfortunate for the rest of us.
That’s strange, just like my winning = disconnect loss. I doubt that happens to you often though. The occasional unwarranted loss here and there shouldn’t have a huge impact on your rating if you play a lot.
its happened to me twice this week, its also happened to some other players. It seems to be increasing in frequency, but it also made my rank drop quite a bit I was #23 before this guy quit on me and afterwards I was around #56
nah, I’ve played about 16 matches since then and I havnt lost a single one, but my rage quit loss is still there and my rank didnt recover.
still kinda pissed cos I was close to breaking the top 20 and then that sh*t happens, but oh well. I just hope the capcom are aware that the leader boards are not working perfectly cos of this.
I never went directly to another match after somebody disconnected on me…Did you host your match or did you join? I always join since last time where somebody joined my match and must have seen that he has a ping of 500+ an nevertheless joined my math and made me loose to a ryu i didn’t even see jumping or throwing hadokens LOL
I joined the match, but when the guy quit on me it looks as if I automatically became the host of the next session as it placed me on the left but then disconnected. I think thats why I was given the loss.
of how the system is supposed to work. I clearly get the win, increasing rating and overall win/loss record when my opponent disconnects. There may be weird discrepancies like what IG showed, but 95% of the time, the system appears to be working, at least for me. I don’t want people to have this belief that the system never works or it’s unfair, because it works a lot more than it doesn’t.
Nah cos its the same people who quit and they quit either when they realise who they are playing or just before they’re about to be ko’ed. Like Eggo said it dosnt happen that often, but its happened to me twice already with the last 4 days.
I dont host matches anymore cos I cant gurantee the ping of the player who joins so all these rage quits have been on matches I have joined with pings of 100 or less.
yeah but are you sure your losses came from there? i normally check the leaderboards after each match and i noticed that sometimes even if i won a match (no disconnect) the win aws counted as a loss…
Yeah man I’m sure. I only had 4 losses before that particular rage quit, then after I had 5 losses. I played about 16 matches since then and havnt lost a single one and the rage quit loss is still there.
In total this week I’ve been given 2 losses for 2 guys that quit on me, so really I should only have 3 losses.
Like I said earlier, I was kinda pissed cos I was close to ranking in the 20’s. I was #23 before the rage quit and then #68 afterwards. I managed to get back up to #50 but my rank has dropped over night to #62 last time I checked on that leader board website
Being in the UK its hard to come across players with a high ratings and low pings so that if you win you progress up the leader boards. The other players in UK who are above average also tend not to host games in order to control the ping and have less laggy games.
In that video, at the very end, when the guy quits did you see that it put me in another sessiom automatically (the character select screen). You could hear the new guy picking his character, but I had no control options and then it disconnected or was already disconnected.
That why I think that this is caused when a guy quits on you and leaves the session, the game puts you as host of that session, somebody else joins but the session is disconnected so it gives YOU the loss. This is just a guess from observation.
won 20 straight ranked matches tonight, played another match and I won but it gave me the loss on the leader boards **BUT **on win loss box that is on the screen before a match starts it still showed me as 21 -0. And the other guy didnt rage quit either
The problem described in the opening post (including automatically joining a new session) just happened to me for the third time this week. The circumstances under which it always occurrs to me are the following:
xbox
joined game
obvious ragequit (right before the finishing blow)
I left the ‘player disconnected’ screen on for quite a bit (was sending messages)
My guess is that the last factor is the determining one. So, my advice to you: in order to avoid unnecessary losses, always close the ‘player disconnected’ screen as soon as you can.
the only thing is that the guy I was playing didnt rage quit, the game ended normally. I went to the leader boards to see my score and it have given me a loss, but on the pre match screen I was 21-0
That’s a trick question. I don’t think I’ve ever gone 20-0 on ranked matches.
On a more serious note, I’ve noticed some funky anomalies but compared to resetting your rank to 0 I’ll take this version of the rating system any day.
well the compeptition I was playing tonight wasnt very good, so it wasnt that hard to accumalate 21 straight wins. I thought the patch that was released a while ago was supposed to fix these things. If a win can potentially be a loss then the leader boards wont be a true representation of whos lost and won.
