I am looking for an LCD monitor for gaming.
If the LCD resolution is 1440x900 and my video card does not support that resolution (it supports 1280x1024, and 1024x768)
then will the LCD monitor not work on my computer?

What vid card is it?
XFX 6800 GS XXX Edition Extreme
I mean WTF? It has an nVidia core and all and it can’t friggin support this 1440x900?!?!?
It supports:
1600 x 1200
1600 x 1024
1600 x 900
1600 x 768
1360 x 768
1280 x 1024
1280 x 900
1280 x 768
1152 x 720
1024 x 798
WHERE IS 1440 x 900?
i read that i can make my own at the driver level
and i am thinking wtf? how? is it easy?
once you plug the monitor in, the video card with auto recognize the wide screen resolution. my radeon 9700 pro didnt support 1440 x 900 natively until i plugged it in. get something that has very low response time 0-5 MS, so theres no lag.
1440 x 900 is the same ratio as 1152 x 720, and since you have a nvidia card you should be able to either get a driver update or use a utility to get that resolution. People are running your card at that res so i doubt it’s a problem. However i am no official nvidia guy, and i have never tried it myself.
