We should have a move list by now…
Vega looks like his throw will work similarly to Fei or the twins. With Necalli it depends on if he can threaten it after a stomp or not, but if so I’d actually say he’ll play like an SF2 character in regards to tick throwing (albeit with a much higher risk). And if he can command throw outside of normal throw range he can train you not to tech…
Ibuki doesn’t have a real command grab; she’s got a hitgrab and a 0+1 Ultra grab. Makoto is also kind of the strike grappler archetype; she uses her mobility options to put you in a strike/command grab mixup, rather than a true grappler using grabs in neutral. She’s a subtype of grappler that’s one step closer to rushdown than say, Zangief.
That said, Birdie’s a weird defensive corner pressure character who locks you down with big normals and makes you respect them by having a command grab to mix in. With Necalli it all rides on how fast and ranged his command grab is. If it’s good enough to put you in a strike/throw mixup after an LK Stomp I’d put him as a strike grappler similar to Abel, except he has to land a cr.mk to start his game instead of just having Abel’s f.mk be blocked. Lose free mobility for situational mobility but have an easier time in neutral.
Basically if we were to make an axis from Rushdown to Zoning, with Footsie in the middle and Rushdown and Grappler making a V with Footsie at the point (so basically a big Y) you’d see strike grapplers at midway between Rushdown and Grappler with Necalli looking like he’s midway between Grappler and Footsie. Fei would be at Footsie with the Twins maybe 90% towards Rushdown but not quite there from Grappler as their command throws, especially Yun’s kara grab which has (or had, might have been changed in Ultra) range.
Laura looks like another archetypal strike grappler; high mobility options that forces you to respect the strike/command grab mixup.
Necalli and Vega ain’t no hybirds. They likely have command grabs because they’ll have fewer options opening people up without them. I doubt they’ll factor heavily into their game like a character like Birdie.
Dhalsim needs to be hybrid grappler, trappler, zoner like Kan Ra LOL
holy shit that chargeable fireball
multiple hits just like V Rosso uguuuuuuuuuuu
Definitely need a move list for her because the gameplay video confirms the grabs after the specials in the reveal trailer are follow ups of some sort. Chargeable fireball for more range and hits is incredible though.
Ahh I had a feeling the AA grab strike was a variant of the elbow strike. Looked like L Elbow is just an elbow, M elbow leads to the takedown we saw in the trailer and H elbow is the anti air one. Neat.
edit- aaaaand it looks like I was very wrong. Supposedly you do the followup grapple to the elbow strike with another input, at least according to the guys in a cam video
She looks a lot more like a KOF character then anything. I might main her if Karin turns out to be bad.
It’s been confirmed that Laura is Sean’s older sister.
It would be way easier to just give Necro a projectile than trying to add everything else to Sim. But welp, the ultimate quintaessential iconic embodiment of all things SF(2) argument is going to prevail and we will probably get a half assed mishmash of moves that don’t blend together in a yoga babbling pack.
She likes her brother, fighting and meat.
Yep, we have a great woman here.
Meh, that means we’ll be seeing Sean then…
After looking at the Japanese bio for Laura. She is the biggest female character in the game. She is about 5’9" and 159lbs. She is 4 inches taller and 5lbs heavier than Mika.
Theres no higher tier than a japanese/brazilian mixed woman. Anyways, her moves list look kind meh… she reminds me of a very shitty Ryo even though her moves are completely different. The short gameplay video of her vs Karin shows that alot of Karins moves just outprioritises her.
BTW anyone else annoyed that all three new characters so far have a dragon punch type anti air move (a diagonal rising one)?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPuPQjOZhhc
recorded a match right after she was unlocked. really nothing to see here but if you’re thirsting for that ass it’s there I guess
Edit: nm.
I wouldn’t compare an anti air grab to a DP. Especially after how often they got beat clean in SFIV.
Does it have any invincibility?
