I wonder if she’s the ‘‘high skill ceiling’’ character combofiend talked about. Because none of the characters so far seem fit that role. Karin and Rashid seem like the character’s with the most depth to me atm.
Also, was her CA designed like that JUST so that ono could troll with pics and make us think it was blanka? Because if that’s the sole reason then it completely backfired and became irrelevant. I do hope she has some kind of tie in with blanka, as in he might have taught her how to use electricity or whatever.
Her slow moving projectile makes me so hard. I love utility moves like that…can’t wait to apply some sick mixups with it.
In regards to the hard knock down discussion. So far outside of Critical Arts causing a hard knock down, we know that one of Bison’s EX specials also causes a hard knockdown. I would be okay if she was granted hard knockdowns off of her hit grab/command grab specials while in V-Trigger only. This would be a nice way to differentiate her V-Trigger from Ryu and augment her fireball meaty game. I understand we don’t want heavy emphasis on oki in SFV like we did in SFIV but one or two character that are designed to have oki is fine with me. I would main that shit asap if she had legit oki with that fireball as a throw back to the Vulcano Russo days. lol
Yes, I believe your correct on this. The animation and distance traveled with the dash is different from her command dash.
This is a possibility as well. I would hate to have to spend 2 meters for that.
I have one other theory about her V-Skill. In the trailer we only see that V-skill hit the opponent while they’re in the air. I don’t believe this v-skill can hit a grounded opponent like Chun-Li’s V-Skill. I also don’t think it’ll have any invincibility frames but the hit box on it must be good if it can be reliably used as an AA option. I don’t know if this would be OP or not because a strong AA that builds V-Gauge sounds strong but technically Bison has that with his s.RH being a CC now. lol
Laura’s game play sort of looks straight forward but she’s the character that interests me the most out of the new batch of characters because she has the most potential to me. I also like how we’re trying to dissect the trailer and figure out how she works because not everything about the character seems obvious. I don’t know how strong she will be in the grand scheme of things but the range on some of her normals looks far so she’s got some good footsie normals. She’s got a couple of ways to open up the opponent with sways, command grab, and an overhead. Critical Art being a command grab seems pretty good and it wouldn’t surprise me if you could combo into it like R.Mika and potentially Gief based on the early reports of the char. Her potential V-Skill being an AA seems strong if it’s consistent since it builds V-Gauge and keeps the opponent next to you but not sure about the recovery after wards.
I think the only move that overlaps with Karin is the command dash but her neutral game and overall game plan is completely different from Karin’s. The command grab aspect is not the emphasis of her game play with just one command grab. That’s like saying Birdie is a grappler because of his one command grab and that hop grab that’s specifically designed to beat fireballs and maybe as an concessional gimmick. I do find it surprising that we have multiple command grab characters in the starting roster of SFV. It would be the same reaction if we had the same number of zoning characters in starting roster.
As I said before, I’m meh on her design overall(feels too much like she’s basically a whole bunch of designs just tossed into a blender) and her gameplay is good…but she’s only the “best” of the new characters for me because Rashid and Necalli are even more meh to me than Laura is so she won by default.
I can still appreciate good cheesecake but I’d rather want my Bae Juri back or atleast be more impressed with her gameplay since R.Mika is already Day 1 with me.
I like her but I have some gripes, While the brazillian Jutisu is cool and all. It looks forced and unnecessary. Like someone mentioned earlier. The way she performs a move then lands into a submission or hold just doesn’t feel right. It’s like she has traditional moves that just end in BJJ holds for aesthetic purposes. Which I guess isn’t a bad thing. But I would’ve liked for it to have been incorporated in a way where it actually looks necessary.
And her outfit is great except for the back of the pants. Why is the ass area missing? And Why in the hell would one wear a thong over spandex shorts??? The fuck? Either have a chick wear a thong and proudly show off that booty I.E R.Mika. Or have something that covers it but is form fitting, making it look nice I.E Chun-Li. Hmm come to think of it doesn’t Juri have that same style as Laura’s pants?
And the set ups with the projectile look really cool. Definitely not a character you want to block against.
Stylistically, she probably should have had a chain grab that opens with a grapple and transitions into different submissions depending on your follow-up inputs.
Not that I’m complaining about what she does have- it’s just how I would have implemented BJJ.
I honestly believe they should have went with one or the other(or have her show off her ass since Brazilian women do pride themselves on their sex appeal and their asses)
Yeah Juri has the same style with her pants except unlike Laura, Juri’s is cut off from both sides and ends before her knees and is kinda see-through too. Juri also doesn’t wear a thong either.
You wish, she’s at SINs headquarters wondering “Whose bitch is this and why she’s trying to outsexy her?”
Edit : Already posted.
I’m surprised by the fact that her v skill isn’t that command grab but the dash. Especially since there is an ex and a crush counter of these moves
