not much to add on a technical level, as im no pro or anything, but played a bunch of Laura at NYCC and she’s a lot of fun. The fireball setups seemed to lead to some nasty stuff. Her command grab felt hard to confirm at times, but the elbow/elbow grab stuff seemed to be her bread and butter. Not sure what you can confirm off of her V-skill overhead, but it can be used as a crush counter.
Anyway, based off of what i played, i’m probably going to sub her.
In reality I don’t think the projectile will be much more useful as a setup than it will be as a projectile. Maybe in v-trigger, but outside of that it’s too slow.
Rather than that, I think it’s there to create a play pattern where you can very slowly inch your way forward while covered by a projectile hitbox, until the opponent is cornered. A very grappler-like way of using a projectile.
As one of the two people who ever played MvC3 Hsien-ko for any length of time, the way her projectile behaves looks very familiar to me. Prepare to get blown up pretty badly doing that if you fight people who have good reactive anti-fireball attacks, though.
Yeah, dub me interested. Her gameplay looks like the lovechild of Makoto and Abel.
I am curious as to how her fireball will be used though. To kill other fireballs if the obvious choice but outside of that will you be able to use it like a charged Sakura fireball for SFIV?
Just watched lots of matches and the entire WSO panel with laura. The more I see of her, the more I want to main her. I think I might have finally found the one character who I’m unbelievably hype for.
There’s already some nasty fireball setups in there; I can only imagine how that’ll pan out at high level play. She almost looks broken with her current toolset. Anti air elbow combined with that slow moving fireball is so damn efficient. She just looks like loads of fun to play.
Looks like the level of competition is Rising Up! (Punny) Haha but Laura looks extremely uncomfortable to play. I’m sure those who’s style fits hers will love her though, she seems pretty solid.
