I talked trash of EX clap pressure a few pages ago but it really helps a lot extend your blockstrings. st. LP, cr. MP xx EX clap solves a lot of problems; it would be perfect if you did a L clap instead of a M one when you don’t have meter.
One thing I realised though is that with that kind of gameplay most Laura players (including myself) just stop doing command grabs. Have we realised how many of Laura’s buttons or strings actually put you into range for a L command grab whether on block or not? I noted a few here:
st. LP, cr. MP xx EX clap (must be done pretty quickly)
st. LP, st. MP xx EX clap
st. HP xx EX clap
cr. MP xx EX clap (doesn’t work at max range)
cr. HP xx EX clap (doesn’t work at max range)
st. HP
st. MK
st. HK (only works on close range)
All the single buttons are negative on block but st. MK and st. HP are pretty safe. I think one could train with some kind of hit confirm mixups especially with n. 1 and 3 - if it hits you reset, if they block you immediately go into command grab.
And I really wanna stress again how st. MK looks like a good button to set up the command grab. Even if it’s -1 on block, many people can get so stressed with your button sequences they won’t even try to challenge it, and on hit it’s +2 which leads into the same situation as a L Bolt.
I didn’t test all these sequences against a dummy that walks backward so I can’t tell if some of them may put him out of the Sunset Wheel range.
P.S. I really wish you could cancel into EX grab from normals. That would make her pressure MUCH scarier.
Can we just take a moment for the most awesome side switch after VT EX Fireball in the corner? That messes up so many people and Ive clutched out many awesome winsrom it!
(With opponent in corner) Target combo -> VT -> cr.mp + EX FB -> st.mk -> VL + Back + VL foward -> st.hp -> qcf+mp -> whatever ender.

I’ve done that quite a bit in the beginning but people started blocking it really quick and all it did was leave me in the corner. In longer sets it might work when you can condition your opponent to something specific but I’ve found more success with delayed Medium Kick -> meaty Overhead in the corner which can be hit-confirmed into st.LK -> EX Bolt Charge and so on.
You landed a f+HP > HP target combo and forgot to confirm into a special? No problem, whiff a st. LK and immediately do EX grab. Boom, meaty grab. No thanks needed.
Only works on quickrise, but if they backroll and stand where they are you can make it connect by doing a st. MK after st. LK. Most lights and mediums will whiff but beware because they can CC you.
Hi, here something very useful when youre in vtrigger:
We can os a dp (heavy bolt) against neutral jumps(and sometimes backjumps) in our command grab. To do so, you just have to input:
HCB+whatever kick+ hp.
Here’s a setup where i use this:
…Ex Clap xx St MK xx VL fwd xx VL fwd xx VL fwd xx cmd grab+hp.
It saved me a few times.
I’ve been looking for good crush counter sweep setups. The setups in the video above work, because obviously you can’t tech a CC sweep, but does anyone have anything else?
Has anyone noticed/played around with late cancelling cr mk into lp elbow? It allows a 1-2 frame gap I believe which catches people mashing or jumping after cr mk. If you get a counter hit you can go into st lp or st lk into another bolt charge or into super. I don’t know if it is worth learning since It’s pretty hard to do reliably but I thought it was pretty sweet when I found it.
Just wanted to say I finally managed to land my ghetto Rose juggle in a real match. So proud of myself lol.
Would be so cool if st. HP had a better hitbox for airborne opponents.

Looks like I have a lot of work to do. The changes to 6HP and 5MK make for some nasty meaty combos.
I’m also going to look into having an open source doc on the main post so others can edit if I disappear again.
EDIT: Although 5MK is a little faster, I think it still cancels on the same frame as it did before, meaning that some resets with it have changed slightly.
Makes sense. The patch notes mention juggle potential changes for the elbow TC as well as EX Clap. I don’t have the numbers yet though but I’ll work on that later.
Since @Los asked it, here’s the situation if you do L Bolt after a regular command grab:
non-VT = -1 on block, +3 on hit, +5 on CH
VT = +1 on block, +5 on hit and +7 on CH (!!!)
So yes, in VT or after EX grab the L Bolt will hit meaty.
Also f+HP will connect meaty (-1 on block, +5 on hit and +7 on CH):
Because of the extra active frame on L Bolt, after EX Clap in the corner you can 5LP xx VSB xx L Bolt and get +5/+7 CH there too. You can also mix this one up with VSF instead of L Bolt so you stand right in front of them at +1.
