Latveria shall ever be Latveria- Dr Doom thread 2.0

Training mode isn’t so bad. There’s like 3 cues you could use. The character falling in is noticeable. The screen kind of gives a little shake just before it also. Then there’s the HUD names switching. In match could be different.

One trick is to space yourself so you aren’t completely in the corner. so either a spaced straight up, or a cornered up back jump seems to place the hit just right. Up forward feels disastrous most times. You also get an easier hit confirm off addf j.L from upback. I would suggest footdiveH instead of j.L but my mind seems willing to change buttons but not stick direction on reaction.

I still have a hard time confirming all the options. It may come with practice but for now I’m going to cheat with making reads. j.M is much easier to hit confirm if you think they are going to press buttons. If you are decent at guard breaking off a pushed j.L they might hesitate to even push block the meaty. Also, if I have xfactor, the missiles into THC setup still works very well.

What worries me solo is the mixup off a ground blocked j.M . Nothing seems air tight to guarantee a mixup. The situation looks favorable, but for every option there seems a counter. So seems like another read situation. Practice may reveal bigger flaws, or find solutions to what I perceive.
In theory you could guard break a push, and low/throw no push. I’m not sure it is solid enough for play though.

Yea been using the j.:l: mix-up, still working on getting the timing down but it isn’t half as difficult as I built it up to be thankfully. I really like it because I can chain into a throw if they xfgc, all I do at the moment is air dash up forward :f: :h:, but I see potential for guard breaks and other shenanigans given time and practice.

On a side note, does anyone know of a doom/sentinel player I can watch? At the moment the only one’s I know off are dios x and rayray every now and then.

Any tips on executing the dash down back or dash down M’s Chris G and others use a lot? Can’t seem to get the M’s to come out for some reason.

Your probably hitting the :m: too low and as such by the time it’s active your already on the ground. You either wanna hit :m: a little earlier, plus you also wanna be doing super jumps before dashing down.

Any advice on the matchup against spencer? I feel like his grapples can be a major pain, so whenever I go up against one I try to zone him out. Is that what the recommended strategy is?

You can chicken block the zip line
Then punish accordingly
Some spencers do that without an assist, so watch carefully

Personally I try to stay in the air since he has a harder time converting in the air. Also, like Xros said, watch out for assistless zips(or if he doesn’t have a good horizontal assist, just watch out for any horizontal zips at all). I believe it’s a free air-throw everytime(or my opponents are just really bad at teching), also if you block his overhead its a free throw(this I’m 100% sure about, shit is -2).

Overall I don’t think it should be a difficult match-up for doom, just be careful when your both grounded since he can arm through all of dooms shit. Use a lot more air photon shots, but also watch out for standing grapples to pull doom in.

footdive h eats grapples which you can cancel into flight for going in. stay in air.

Check out this sick set between ray and insayne both rnning their doom teams.

new tech or tech people don’t know about or do

Ah honzo you good old troll you… Of course people know about that.

Another sick set, some really nice doom play here

The 2 most bored-looking players make this game look the most excited. Damn.

How do you get your tri dash speed to that next level? I can tridash, but I can’t hit that level of speed where you can do things like convert a forward throw from midscreen or convert off any and every s foot dive confirm, no matter where you land it.

spend 10mins a day just tridashing

Xr0s is kinda right, it’s mostly practice, but in regards to converting off a front throw there is a technique to it. As far as I know you need to ground dash, then air-dash cancel(or jump cancel, it’s been a while and my memory is a lil hazy) the dash, then dash down. So your input should look something like :atk: + :atk:(let most of the dash animation play out), :uf: :atk: + :atk:, :df: :atk: + :atk: .

Something a long those lines, but other than that you just gotta practice practice practice.

It’s jump cancel just, :atk::atk::uf::df::atk::atk:. You move faster than normal tri dashes doing this and you can block after you jump cancel the ground dash.

Thanks for clearing that up.

also, doom has a veeery low airdash treshold. and I believe you can addb lower than you can addf, not sure.

Is there a secret method to plinkdashing with doom? I can plinkdash kind of okay with magneto (using h~l+m) but for some reason im getting 95% butterguns with doom. I start out with a dash, so i’m definitely not beginning with buttergun.
