Latveria shall ever be Latveria- Dr Doom thread 2.0

Good looks Cheech!

Funny that you mention Champ not doing it because I only asked after seeing him doing it. I think it’s really vital with Doom as anchor; when it comes down to a one-on-one situation and the opponent has X-Factor this helps leaps to run the X-Factor time down.

Ahh so he has started doing it. Makes sense now that hes been playing that point Doom Team. Doom players in general should add it to their arsenal though.

For anyone playing Magneto-a/Doom-b, I found some cool blockstrings with disruptor. If this awkward for some people, keep in mind I am a MVC2 player and I used many of these types of blockstrings in that game.

  1. [Call Magneto > j.:f::h: xx delayed ADDF]
    {Scenarios}
  • On Hit: Both moves combo, meaning you get full combos both in the corner or midscreen if you cancel the footdive into ADDF. Also works with the opponent normal jumping.
  • Close Enough to Opponent in the Air: Doom grabs, Magneto doesn’t come out, meaning you can use the assist later.
  • On Block and Pushblocked in the Corner: Don’t get pushblocked, Magneto covers you while you land. Then follow up with:
[]Whiffed tri-dash j.:l: into grab.
    [
    ]Tri-dash into low cr.:l:.

Box-dash into j.:m:.
1. [Call Magneto > cr.:h: xx dash xx jump xx ADDF]
    {Scenarios}
  • On Hit: Combos, you get a full combo midscreen and in the corner is you got the low (combo with cr.:l: > cr.:m: > :s: ). It can also work if you go for the box dash j.:m:, but requires a lot more timing.
  • On Block and Pushblocked Midscreen: Only thing worth doing here is doing a double dash into tri-dash and then go for a low or a grab. Requires good execution.
  • On Block and Pushblocked Corner: You don’t get pushblocked, Magneto covers you while you land. You can follow up with:
[]Whiffed tri-dash j.:l: into grab.
    [
    ]Tri-dash into low cr.:l:.

Box-dash into j.:m:.
The blockstrings work regardless of what normals come before the necessary normal. For example, you could input cr.:l: > Magneto Assist > cr.:h: fast and still get the full options the blockstring gives you.

Hi sorry, if this has been touched upon, but what exactly does Marlinpie do with his incoming character setup that doesn’t allow him to be grabbed if they XF?

ie: justin wong Akuma coming in, marlinpie does j.M and justin uses XF, but Doom still grabs him.

Is this an option select? Like j.M, addf immediately.

EDIT: Also, why is it sometimes when you do a meaty M or L on incoming chars, the pushback either a lot or nothing at all. I’m not understanding the advance guard system

I found this OS today.

Thoughts?

James chen tweeted something about kara canceling j.S into airdash.

Fly > j.S xx dash > j.M

there, Magneto/Storm’s j.S out of flight. If it works that is. James gets stuff wrong now and then.

Way of topic, but the first thing I noticed when I entered the Doom forum was a bunch of threads with just one or zero reply… My sympathies to you Doom forum veterans.

This is most likely a form of passive protest to the flood of repeated questions that have arisen multiple times throughout the stickied threads. The most frequently asked question being how to continue Doom’s MM F+H S loop midscreen (which posters have been kind enough to answer again and again). Most of those threads have been answered, addressed or discussed within the last 6 pages of this thread alone.

What are some SOLO incoming character set ups you guys use? For an incoming character after you kill one and set ups after a snap back? Im curious to see what people do cuz i need help with this lol

Well this is interesting, ill see if I can make something similar work with akuma assist, thanks for posting.

Check the video i posted 3 posts above you

I see champ doing hidden missles super on incoming a lot but I can’t seem to cancel hidden missles, when I do it the missles have way to much recovery, what am I doing wrong?

Is he doing it with only one meter? If so he’s canceling with team super. Like canceling wesker otg super

Aaaah that makes sense

So how does one start their offense with doom? I think Im decent at creating space and protecting sentinel and akuma when I call them, but I don’t really know how to start my offense if you get what I mean. All the combos I perform either start from stray foot dives or throws(which is pretty much a universal tool), I’ve never actually started a combo with a cr.:l: which tells me I don’t actually know how to mount an offense with him.

My team is doom/sent/akuma

Im guessing I could implement some of this into my team, especially with doom/akuma.

EDIT: Also, what purpose does molecular shield serve? I’ve been trying to implement it into my game to no real success.

Have you used air Photon Shots and air Plasma Beam to start your offense? Also, as Cheech mentioned in a earlier post, you can do air Photon Shot L, S foot-dive to land before the lasers, and then do the “Doom shuffle” (cancel dash halfway into a tridash). Call Sent when doing the dash and you have time to set up mixups.

Molecular Shield seems more like a close-range Drones if you ask me. I think it’s a good assist for corner lockdown, but it’s still overshadowed by other assists.

Thanks, ill add that to my game, should take a lil practice to get down but doesn’t seem too complicated. And no I meant the molecular shield on point, not the assist lol.

Oh, about using it on point, the only use I see for it is for chip damage in the corner if the Level 3 didn’t kill a character. Other than that, as the guide said, it’s just a combo extender. Though there’s also this tech that involves H Molecular Shield: Latveria shall ever be Latveria- Dr Doom thread 2.0

For any point Doom users, I tried using st.L in the start of the round today and it worked surprisingly well. I walked back and did st.L xx L plasma beam against a Magneto that was walking forward mashing H. The hitbox of st.L anti airs very nicely if they are trying to get above you and it starts up in 5 frames which is very fast. Seems pretty good.

Ill test that out because all I do at the start of the round is mash back :h: while calling akuma.

I was also meaning to ask, what do you guys use for your incoming mix-ups? At the moment all I do is call sentinel(or akuma if they are in the corner) and fire off the butter gun. This catches them if they come in mashing, but it isn’t really a mix-up, if just helps me maintain pressure. I was practicing and I noticed dooms :f: :h: usually crosses up in the corner so I was thinking maybe I could use that in conjunction with sentinel or akuma but Im not really sure how to. So yea, you guys mind sharing your incoming mix-ups?
