Last Blade 2 tournament

The point of banning power Zan is that he’s just too powerful mainly because of damage and his f,b,f + c move. A good power Zan player (don’t know any who’s in the tourney, I think sandman uses speed zan), can spam his f,b,f+c well and unfairly win the match. Speed zan has his damage reduced, and EX zan receives more damage.

the fact that your banning a character in any mode thats default playable is stupid
regardless of how broken he is in power mode

that would be like 3s tournies banning sa3 yun or sa2 chun

Hi!

I’m getting a PS2 to USB (PC) adaptor soon, and I would love a chance to play BR 2 again. I don’t have a Kaillera yet, but I’ll get everything set up as soon as it arrives. I’ll fill you in with more details to confirm as it arrives. My email is INTERNETEADDRESS @ hotmail.com

I don’t get how the infinites are banned. What if you do part of an infinite but then stop? I am confused by this.

Hello used to talk about this guy from China who was really good with a lot of characters and used to be top LB2 player on kaillera but went back. I wonder if this is him. If it is, he’s not as great as he was played up to be, though.

Infinites are just loops. Usually, there’s a limit to the number you can do (which is usually one). All LB2 tournaments have this limit in place because the game is broke as shit otherwise. It’s kind of hard to accidentally loop a combo twice anyway. For example with Moriya,

:l::snka:, :snka: :snkb: > teleport (AC) > Loop

Every single infinite in this game is done using links, so unless you’re intentionally trying to time the hits to keep going, you won’t do them by accident. The exception is Akari’s back :snkb: in the corner, but that’s usually limited to 2 hits because that’s the maximum amount you can do away from the corner.

The Zantetsu thing is hard to be definite about, which is why I removed the ban/soft ban thing from the FAQ. I say allow him for now. He’s not unbeatable by any means, he just seriously slows down the pace of the game, and he badly fucks over the viability of characters like Okina. He would’ve been far less gay if they’d kept his dash slice the way it was in the first game where it was slower, didn’t do much damage and didn’t knock down. Just be very careful when you jump towards him. Keep your distance and try to bait the move. If it gets blocked too close up, you can punish it quickly, or if you’re in the air when he comes in, combo him on the way down. If he starts his links up in close, try to get off the ground unless you wanna get sucked into his 50-50 guessing game. Don’t try to parry it on the ground. It’s fast enough that if you whiff, he can catch you before you recover even if he’s at the other end of the screen. Jumping straight up is the best counter provided you’re not close enough that it goes behind you. Spacing and a good eye are key to winning the match-up.

OK, I’ll remove the ban on power Zan. There isn’t anyone in this tourney who’s super good with him anyway.

Oh, I forgot, I don’t think his qcf+a, jump c, ac, hcb+c should be allowed, since it’s using the AC glitch. What do you think guys?

Add me to the tournament. I am a n00b with this game but want to try it.

You’re thinking of jump :snka:, :snkc: :hcb::snkc: and that combo doesn’t need AC.
Zantetsu and Lee can chain ABC in the air without using glitches. It’s just the repeated AC and O. Kaede’s QCF stuff that’s banned.

The only thing of Zantetsu’s that I know is banned for sure is his :qcf::u::snka: infinite juggles.

Despite what you think Samurai, Last Blade is a fine game when it’s played with certain rules in place. Broke as it may be, it’s controllable unlike A3 or XvsSF. Watch some of the videos from A-CHO or MiKaDo. It’s not ugly at all at high levels. Plus, it has a universal defense option like 3S and Garou, so even low tier characters have plenty of opportunities to land shit, but unlike those games, parrying in LB has a long whiff animation, so you can’t option select them, and it doesn’t turn into such a guessing game all the time.

Well for myself I’m fine with the ban list the way it is now hajimewaji

EvilSamurai, can you please post your kaillera name, contact info, etc. like the sign up format says?

Thanks

I gotta say im completely befuddled by the modified rule about the moriya glitch. “Moriya’s AC glitch is allowed only once in a combo, and may not use speed chain after the AC glitch.” First off, if you can’t use a speed chain after it u can’t really use it in a combo… except i guess for A -> dp+A which would only make the combo weaker. Also does this mean you cant do a speed chain after it outside a combo or do you just mean while theyre in hit stun? cuz if you cant do a speed chain after it period then it makes it essentially useless except for spacing or a quick throw. I definitely agree with the part about only using it once in a combo but the part about no speed chains i think is really weird and it’ll make it way too hard to use because ill just be constantly going “am i allowed to do this?” while im playing rather than just quickly throwing things out on reaction. It looks like in all other tournys speed chains are allowed after it, ill post some links to some vids to demonstrate. Also it sounds like no one in this tourny really has any objections to it being used that way.

Would anyone mind teaching me the basics of LB2?

Speed chains should be allowed after the AC teleport.

If you want practice, Mushishi’s going to the be the easiest high level player to find.

OK fine. I’ll allow speed chains after AC glitch. It seems like sandman will be using speed moriya in the tourney then?

I’d be more afraid of his Juzoh and Shigen than his Moriya… I’d have to use one of my better characters against either of the throwers. ;p

I wonder if you’ll feel the same way after playing his speed Moriya. lol

I played at least 15-20 games against his speed Moriya over the weekend. It was frustrating to say the least. He’s still figuring out how to play him properly on speed, and he’s going to get better. That said, he’s no slouch with Power Shigen either.

As far as practice goes, I’m willing to show anyone what I know. However, I’d prefer not to spend a lot of time on “How do I do x move” type questions. Kyokuji has put together an awesome strategy guide, and it’s a crime not to use it. Most of the top active players (s4ndm4n21, Bobo-da-homo, lalla, etc.) are nice guys and will probably work with someone who’s done their homework.

I’m on Godweapon occasionally during weekday evenings, and on weekends.

we just need 3 more!!!

Please help me spread the words.

PS: It would be nice if Kyokuji can join too.
