Is it really recommended to use Poer Kaede over Speed Kaede? I’ve gotten pretty used to his speed version, but is his power version significantly better?

Also, where would speed Kaede be on the tierlist? Thanks in advance.

Kaede does more damage in power, his meter fills up really fast, his links aren’t to extremely hard (minus 1), good pokes, other good stuff. Here:

Thank you, I’ve read the tierlist though; and as you know, it doesn’t list the ranking for all the skills; only P Kaede is up there, not speed.

Speed Kaede is considerably worse. He loses a ton of damage potential, because he can’t gain meter anywhere near as fast, so he can’t DM off his command throw as often. Plus, he loses
:l::snka:, :r::snkc: > DM combos, and can’t DM combo off a ground recover punish as often either. He does gain cancellable low :snkc:, but he doesn’t really have anything safe to use off it, and :d::snkc: has lousy recovery anyway.
His :qcf::qcf::snka::snkb: DM is considerably slower and is not combo-able in speed either, further neutering his damage output (his other DM doesn’t combo period from a chain). Losing his big comeback tool: :l::snka: (x2-3), :snka: > :qcf::qcf::snkb: hurts too.

The biggest loss outside of damage, is the chip/stagger block on his normals including his :snka:, one of the safest and most dangerous long range pokes in the game.

He can link into his speed combo special from his command throw on speed, but since the damage is roughly equivalent to his DM on power and since you won’t be able to do it as often, that pretty much voids any kind of advantage it would’ve given you.
The only real advantage to using Speed Kaede is that he has a good overhead, but that’s hardly a reason to switch. Also, his speed chains aren’t that great, because you’re forced to use :dp::snka: or :r::snkc: for consistency and his fireball sucks because it gives your opponent frame advantage.

I’d probably put him just below Power Juzoh.

Thanks, much appreciated! Looks like I better start learning his power form. I kinda stuck with speed because I logically thought that fencers would normally emphasis it, but I guess anything goes in games.

Yeah, you’d expect Shigen to be better in power as well, but it ain’t the case.
Links also made a lot of characters who were obviously meant for speed, better in power.

Tons of new videos up with some more character variety this time.
Among them being a (somewhat excessively) careful Okina player who manages to do alright.
Lots of Okina and Kojiroh for those who wanted to see them though.
Some Speed Kaede and Power Washizuka for those who wanted to see their less played counterparts as well. The Speed Kaede player has a particularly good match against a Power Lee.
An impressive S. Washizuka player in the Dec 16 ranbat as well.

Still got some others I need to sort through.
The Chinese could stand to compress their shit a little.

Nice to see that Daiki and them are still playing and hosting ranbats though.

Honestly, Moriya and Zantetsu are strange cases. I have trouble finding stuff with them in it. Moriya probably has the highest potential of any character in the game, but most of the people who play him tend to be too reckless with his teleport and too focused on rush down. The Moriya player in the video at the bottom isn’t too bad, but EX seriously crippled his chances there. Moriya gains like almost nothing from using EX, and you need to be able to take hits 'porting around like that, so I dunno what that guy was thinking.

Zantetsu has a ton of tools at his disposal even without his dash slice, but most of the better players seem to steer clear of him. Sort of an O. Sagat deal, and probably, because it’s awkward having to try and not do a move that’s so central to his gameplay. All the Zantetsu players I have seen have been very underwhelming though. Outside of when Daiki or somebody busts him out for casuals.
Kagami, Lee, Kaede, Amano, and Washizuka definitely seem to be the most played characters though.

Also, Moriya look like he has some pretty sweet ass combos, but I wanted to know…are those same combos(the ones the Ex Moriya player was doing)possible in speed mode?

And why isn’t anyone playing last blade 2 on kaillera?I want to get in this game, but maybe it’s abit too late…

EX is no different from speed mode outside of super cancels. There were a couple Setsunas in the earlier videos I posted. He’s probably one of the most basic characters in the game so not a lot of people play him.
He’s got a lot of damage output and some nice mind-games with his super armor, but not much else.

Hmmmm, interesting. I’m a noob in this game(started about four or five days ago) and I’ve been workin Moriya a little bit and I wanted to know do u have that combo down(the ones the ex Moriya player was doing) in your Moriya guide?If not, can u write down the combo?Sorry if i’m asking too much here.

Also, is there a server where some people play last blade2?
