Last Blade 2 Character Guides/Advanced System thread

The key is just patience. The reason why you never see this kind of style at high levels is because you end up taking a ton of reset damage (can’t block ground normals on the way up), and most of these guys lack any offensive fundamentals outside of jumping in over and over (see Sword Strength).
The thing with that kind of playing is that if your offense is better than their’s, you can just land some damage and then turtle for the rest of the round, and 90% of the time, they won’t know how to attack you properly. Most of these guys will just jump-in 500 times which is easily remedied by backwards air strikes or air blocking.

I’ll have to try that next time. That sounds promising. I’ll have to play around with what might work in this situation.

Basically what you do is hit them with jump :snka: or something, so you land before them. That way your :l::snkb:/:d::snkb: or whatever has time to hit them before they jump again. If they start attacking as soon as they jump, just duck first, or block, then punish, but your attack should hit them first anyway.

Setsuna can punish that kind of mass jump crap from wayyy back.

How about an overhead in that situation?

Overheads would work, but that’s assuming you’re on speed, and not all of them have enough range or speed. You could also make them land on a speed combo special if they’re being really retarded about it.

Also, if you jump against these guys. Make sure it’s always with an air-air attack.
Certain power unblockables may catch them as well if they’re not good at parrying.

You should be able to catch them with a combo when they land though, even if they block. Unless they’re literally just holding up the entire match, they won’t jump quick enough to avoid being sucked to the ground.

It’s just about being patient and punishing their mistakes. These guys rarely have anything on the offensive front besides jumps, so basically you’re in control of the momentum.
The most common character you’ll see this with is Power Hibiki since her slash hits so far downwards, and it’s hard to parry and crosses-up easily.

Kagami and Kaede seem to have slightly more difficulty punishing this if the guy’s literally off the ground all the time, since they lack any good vertical hitting slashes. So you’re gonna have to choose your timing more carefully. It’s worth noting that Kagami’s :dp::snkb: is unblockable in the air on the first hit, and the first hit is out for a long time.

Remember, most early jump attacks will completely miss you if you duck. So if they’re jumping like that close to you, you can probably duck the initial hit and then punish them on the way down. Although that’s probably best reserved for the corner when you’re sure they’re probably going to jump back or straight up. Also, keep in mind that you can’t air block when jumping forward.

A lot of these people like to hug the corner as well, so make sure your timing is careful once they’re there, or if you’ve got a lead, just let them sit there like idiots.

The thing is to remember not to dash after them after a reset unless you’re planning to go air-air with them again, because early air attacks will often miss you if you’re neutral, but hit you if you’re moving forward since your sprite is bigger. This is the same reason why many Japanese players will leave the stick on neutral between movements instead of always blocking in Street Fighter games.

So basically, you’d fight these the same way you’d fight a good Okina player. With careful forward movement, except you don’t have to worry about projectiles.

I’m assuming you mean it’s air unblockable.

You would be correct sir.

Update

Added 11 new LB2 match videos on youtube.
2 from A-CHO and 9 from VIP.
I wish I could find more GIGO videos because those guys are probably the best in Japan.

Kagami player in the first vid’ hits that 1 frame link with crazy consistency.
Also linked to 2 of Abar’s videos in the first post. Meijin’s probably the best Shigen player I’ve seen, and Daiki’s probably the most well known LB2 player around.

nice…

Yeah, I think he hit about 50-75% of his attempts. I liked how he was using :d::snka: and :d::snkb:. That :d::snkc: dive to :qcf::snkb:x2 combo off the parry in the corner was sweet as well. I’m really impressed by his execution. What do you think about his use of the dive? It seemed overly aggressive to me but maybe because it wasn’t working so well in these vids.

I don’t like to use it much since it’s hit or miss most of the time, but a quick low dive on occasion is good for keeping your opponent honest. If you’re really good at reading your opponent, you might get more use out of it. It’s great for punishing deflect/throw attempts in advance, and good as a cross under move.

Juzoh VS Kagami video up.

Woah, only Akari, Yuki, O.Kaede and Imacheat are left Oo;;

That Kagami DOES jump a lot >>

random thing i thought i’d add for Amano: You can link his f,b,f A after a forward B in speed/Ex. haven’t tried it in power mode.

You sure? I haven’t been able to get it to work.
You sure it wasn’t off a dash B? The ending animations look similar.
You can link his :d::snka: off his dash attack though. I should probably add that.

I’m getting someone to e-mail me some of the videos I lost. I’m not sure if he still has them all, but we’ll see.

I’m positive. Just be sure both hits of the forward b connect. Like Back A, A, forward B -> f,b,f A xx dm (ex). I’ll link you to a video that has it in there.

Ah, I got it to work. You didn’t tell me it only worked in the corner.

Also, this was just added to youtube:
DarkOne LB2 Combo Video

DarkOne was the one performing the combos in the other KoFUnion video.

Some crazy shit I’ve never seen before, although I gotta wonder if any of it is pre-programmed. Didn’t know you could link forward C off Amano’s back A, even if it doesn’t have much practical use. It’s surprisingly easy though.
Don’t know exactly how he sucks people out of a knockdown state. My only guess is he dizzies them at the exact same moment. The thing he does against Shigen’s counter super is nuts too.
Also, Speed Juzoh has :d::snkc: (x2-3) into :r::l::snkc::qcf::snkc::qcf::snkc: apparently, but he can be hit afterwards, so it’s only good as a finisher sadly. Too bad, it would’ve been a big boost for Speed Juzoh, but at the very least if you do use him, you’ll be much more dangerous once your opponent gets below 80 health.

And before anyone says anything about the one Shigen combo, apparently you can grab certain characters out of hitstun if they’re crouching Works on Setsuna, Kojiroh and Lee.

I’m getting the videos from my contact, but apparently, it’s like 2 gigs worth of stuff, so depending on the quality of these videos, I’m going to have ‘a lot’ of stuff to upload for those who’re interested.

Good stuff, please keep them coming! :lovin: :lovin:

Send me them on aim at some point if you can

or hook me up with your contact. whatever works
