Sounds all like unlikely cases which will probably be dismissed. It’s good that precautions are being taken given the modern ease of global travel, but there’s also a lot of unnecessarily fear surrounding it. Getting the virus under control in the areas that lack the infrastructure to deal with it seems possibly more important, otherwise it will become more and more difficult to organize aid efforts if the situation cannot be contained.

It isn’t so much the movies coming true as plenty of experts explaining some huge problems with modern life and nobody listening. Scientists have been expecting a pandemic to happen for a while now. Plane travel has hastened the mobility of humans so much that it is near impossible to keep a disease in any one place. Ever since, I think it was Avian flue or SARS, they’ve been trying to tell people that modern life is borked in a way that it makes it really easy to get the planet sick with something bad.
Kind of terrible that ebola might be that thing.
Call me paranoid, but I feel the situation is probably much worse than what is being reported. We won’t know how bad things really are until they get to a point where denial will no longer work.

Yeah, these asshats always pull the old “We didn’t want to cause a panic and the possibility of people being rounded up for displaying symptoms and forcibly quarantined”…when it turns out that we should have been doing that right off the bat. They always wait until shit can’t be controlled any more to let us know that something like 2 or more out of 10 people are infected. This might just be what the W.H.O. were looking for when they said a lot of “useless eaters” have to die a few years back. Swine Flu couldn’t get that done…but now we have this.
