On top of what iam added, the range of your overhead leaves plenty of room for a back dash. You will recover and do ex tatsu and Guy or whoever will be waiting for you except maybe in the corner like you showed. Depends on the backdash frames. If he backdashes out that’s 13 frames if recovery plus the active frames plus the startup of ex tatsue. You’re looking at 20 frames minimum. Figure out which backdashes you can beat.
Climaxter/iamthatiam: Oh, I knew that. That’s why I was doing it in the corner and against guy and deejay. Their reversals have no range. It beats cammy stuff also because it outranges her reversals. It beats dps, but not many reversals. Don’t use it on honda, or juri haha. It’s super character specific.
I was playing today against Elena and unwittingly discovered that you can use the kongo to make that overhead(forgot the name) of hers whiffs and on whiffing you can punish with cr.fp to have a max punish. It is great to know that because if it hits the kongo, she takes 150 of damage and if the move whiffs, you can do a max punish. The match up against Elena got a little more fun hehe
It is possible to fireball FADC into your ultras (both of them) mid screen and hit them on the ground. I don’t know if you guys knew this.
The way it works is: at specific spacings, you can s.MP, c.HP x MP Fireball FADC Ultra. MP Fireball hits at a later frame, and when combined with good spacing on your c.HP (which is pretty automatic if you use s.MP first), you get more advantage. It works after jump-ins and divekicks.
Obvious thing is obvious: you can go into EX Palm, which makes this seem not useful at first glance. The important thing to note here is that you can get a full animation Ultra 1 for 2 meter mid screen. This can be done after a jump-in. For Ultra 1, the spacing is pretty lenient but the link gets tighter the further out you are. This takes practice and a good sense for the spacing, but it is both practical and useful (since you no longer need 3 meter for a mid screen ultra 1).
The Ultra 2 version of this trick is less useful because it does less damage and stun for more meter, but you still might choose to do it for fun. It’s also obviously a very tight link, requiring specific spacing (you can’t be too far away or too close). Because the ultra hits on hits first active frame, it is not necessary to spin your stick! **As far as I know this is the only way to combo into a grounded Ultra 2 without Red Focus. ** j.HP, s.MP, c.HP x MP Fireball FADC Ultra 2, MP Palm is 775 stun and 466 damage. You can spend meter for EX Tatsu for more damage.
There could be other ways to get meaty fireballs into FADC ultra… any ideas?
I know there are some counter hit set ups that give you Ultra, and there are certain charcters where you can hado FADC. Rose was definitely doabl in previous versions with lp hado without counter hit.
You can also combo into lp hado > Full Speed Denjin from about 3/4 screen away.
pretty much in corner only tho? IDK never been big on hk tatsu enders…
ive seen another recent vid about a week old where a guy goes,“never seen any gouken use this tech”…lol I always laugh out loud when any goukens say this…chances are , we didn’t say anything on purpose or he don’t frequent this spot for the last 5 years do he?
Or he just doesn’t play against many gouken players
Gouken is rare and all the “Major” offline gouken players use a very straight forward grounded zoning/footsies style so their use of any sort of pressure or “tech” is pretty limited
yawwwwwn…im actually getting better at this shit lol !
So we know armor cancel ultras are sick, Goukens got one and its apparently a “natural” Os built in to his moveset. When the first frame of the kongo is not hit the OS to U1 and U2 respectively, is not activated.
A very coveted move but way too hard for me, so I decided to make it easier by making it harder. LOL I like mashing buttons I guess, but now I almost can do this on my first or second or third or fifth try…the shit is real hard, especially when trying to do it from a focus dash.
Dummy is on playback with my OS input following lp gohado, mp kongo.
P1 is me trying to find the “trigger” for the armor cancel, in reverse engineered fashion.
@ 0:56 I see the ultra pop out in the corner , which tells me I have a good u1 OS input recorded to the dummy , that’s why I reset and find it right after.
money shot is @ 1:04 if you wanna just skip to it, I wanted to try a closer to “in game” application for my Goukens armor cancel u1 OS , so now that I have a good tv now to play on , I will now start to practice and share more of this tech that all characters im sure can do , well the armor cancel ones. Basically option selecting into an armor cancel ultra from a focus dash I think is truly deadly in footsies.
I stay slept on.
So I basically ignored U2 for a long time, recently ive been using it in game.
Today while labbing, I thought back to when U2 was buffed and remembered discussions about palms> denjin and how it had changed…only cancellable to Denjin following EX palm and Lpalm in the corners…
Ive been FADC’ing mid-screen from all 3 palms with little hassle, I think this only mentioned years ago after the chargeable version came out…
Palm FADCs are some of my favorite ways to spend meter. I really like them on bnb ex palm punishes… end with palm, then FADC forward and Ultra 2. It’s like 520ish damage, not bad.
