@iam my bad on the example but you knew what I was sayin…
No prob. I thought I missed something in the pre-ae era. I was about to be soo pissed, if I could have been using low kongo all of this time to beat Ken’s bullshit.
So much character specific non sense sometimes. It’s like you need a fucking degree to play Gouken.
Its like saying hes the BEST in the game , IF you know every damn detail times 39, and have the execution of a cyborg…or its like a book that never ends and the plot keeps changing…
Push the opponent into the far right corner you can peep my thesis…lol…its the only bit of logic I could find and it could be totally off base
In a nutshell any cr. lp or mp that hits Goukens top of his forward hand /wrist or lower is ok for low kongo, only if the opponents line of sight falls under the top line of the 1st row of boxes in training when crouching AND the attack DOES NOT cross the line to the next row.(Cammy chun guile etc.)
Opponents w line of sight above that line with attacks that land at the top of that row without going over MAY use both mp and lp (E ryu)kongo but if it touches that upper line it neeeds Mp kongo(fuerte and others).
Anyone else is tall and all there cr.lp will need mp kongo, unless the punches rise, then you will have to CATCH it with the right kongo at the right time mp or hp.
Thanks Capcom! MAkes total sense!
I managed to cr.tech and made a lp parry come out without meaning to, by standing and crouching twice. (I often do to protect against cr.attacks, overheads)
I think this is an Option select?
Check it out, its just as i win the 1st round. @1:00

Looks like an OS to me because you didn’t press the buttons after standing and crouching again…interesting. Maybe test to see if you can reproduce it. If this is habit, have you noticed kongo coming out before when you didn’t expect or want it? It may cause kongo to come out regardless of the opponent’s action anyway, in which case it is really just a case of a delayed input or buffer type action…kind of like inputting ultra but holding off on pressing the buttons a few frames but instead pressing the buttons first and then inputting the motions.
BTW:I dig the commentary and very nice approach to Fei.
shortcuts and negative edge im thinking. when I did :db: :d: :df: twice I got gflip when I ended holding forward and kongo when I ended holding back. Neg edge wont show up as input in the display. The other directions are arbitrary I think
I did consider it being negative edge, and it might well be.
I did a little test in the training room as climaxter suggested. I did manage to get it to happen twice but i did try a lot of times.
The main problem is i’ve never been one for thorough examination through the training room.
As i can’t see Gouken inputs when he’s player 2.
But what i did get it to show is(try 1):
[]Gouken perfroms: cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.lk, cr.lp - When not attacked.
[]Gouken performs a parry when interrupted. (only at a certain point - i suspect when cr.lk is interrupted the cr.lp turns into 1)
The second time i accomplished it i dont think i had cr.lp in it.
I don’t know if that constitutes as an Option Select. I’ll get the footage uploaded soon.
It does. What a coincidence, I was coming in here to post OS tech to see if we could come up with something to bring Ultra 1 back up to par.

Actually looking at the video it just looks like negative edge.
Anyway, trade OS ideas off the top of my head:
lp hadou trade into U1
lp palm trade into U2
Ultras are the only thing I can think of thats can be useful enough off this OS. The only other thing would be sweep.
In terms of actual setups I got nothing lol. I’m assuming we have to base most of it off cl st mp or maybe even specials off st mp. Maybe you guys can come up with something.
I’ve been trying to get an OS to work in Training for a while for my Gouken Guide, but i can’t seem to get it to work per say. (You’ll understand when you read what i mean)
I’m trying to do Hard-Knockdown (Throw) > form of divekick > OS Denjin Hadoken.
I can get it come off if they backdash and not if they get hit.
But i was trying to re-create a video i believe i saw where you OS Denjin vs. Teleporters and when they teleport you’d turn around and get them or shoot forward and get them.
I can do the latter, but not the former.
Which seems like a rough OS if they can avoid it by teleporting behind you.
I’m thinking of not adding it since i couldn’t do it consistently enough to warrant the risk in an online match.
I think i might have been a video from one of you Goukens, possibly ‘RemoveAnyDoubt’
Toof, have you had success with OS palm vs teleports behind you?
it was either phunksim or nevillebamshew. It’s online. It’s meaty st cl mp on wakeup lp fireball OS teleport. It’ll clip forward or backward teleports. Its on youtube
Ahh yes it’s was Phunkism , and yes it was a meaty st cl mp, Thanks.
It’s an important tool and thought it needed to be in there.
Ha, you’ll have to let me burrow through the tons of videos i’ve got, Off hand, no i think i was trying to do them off of a dive kick, which didn’t leave enough room for them to get behind you before it came out. Now Amigo pointed me in the direction of that video, that works for Denjin & palms.
It’s definetly going to be worth showing, Palms and all.
Personally, I only utilise OS Ex Tatsu vs characters like Rose off of a dive kick in my personal use.
I should use palms and denjin on tele’s more often and probably will.
I must have saw that video when i was still just a pup at learning Gouken and it went over my head. Then forgot about it.
never mind.
I made a working version of the crouch tech OS counter discussed above.
This OS techs grabs and activates EX kongo on any delayed attack (pseudo frame traps). Kongo will not come out on true frame traps and meaties due to the slight delay in button pressing. You will be able to block these as your joystick remains in the down back postion.
Commands are;
DB, D, DB, (delay), LP LK MP

Notes:
- The OS works well in certain mixups but I wouldn’t use it on normal pressure
- OS loses to armor break, command throws and opponent doing nothing
- If your counter shows as reversal you’re inputting the commands too fast and won’t be able to tech the throw
- Tight frame traps like Ryu’s cr.mp > cr.mp your counter shouldn’t come out. If it is you’re inputting the commands too fast. If there’s a stagger step like the one shown in the video your counter will work.
Does it have to be those 3 buttons? It will be difficult to press those three on a pad. Can we use LP LK and LP MP HP?
eh, nevermind… I’m sure HP can replace MP. Let’s see
It will work. You can also just use the LP and LK buttons and a low counter will come out instead of an EX.
VS. Guy
Backthrow > Backdash > st.Fierce (whiff) > walk forward (3 cubes-ish) > j.Roundhouse
Unblockable.
Instant j.rh, like, on the way up? On the way down would be much better for combo potential.
On the way down.
I’ve got it to the point where I can make it “un-duckable” (crouching either way gets hit) but if Guy blocks away and standing, he takes no damage. It think I’m losing it at the “3 cubes-ish” part. Any suggestions?
