L3 + R3 / LSB + RSB and LS/RS/DP on fight-specific PCBs

Is the wiring of L3 and R3 / LSB RSB as simple enough on a Brook Universal USB Fight PCB and all 3 brands of retro fight PCBs as simple as wiring a digital button. Kind of like how analog triggers were wired digitally?

Also, If I bought some 3-position switches ( not the Nintendo Switch, or a branch for spanking, but an electric selector) are they as easy to install as any of the other connectors?

I assume they are but Stan is not sure. Stan thinks they are analog controls.

But Stan is right about working in analog sticks for the Wii Classic Controller pro.

since this is more directly related than my usual segues… I know that the Genesis/ Mega Drive Collection for PS4, Xbox one, and Switch require either an LSB or an RSB to fully activate certain features. Do any other joystick games, fighting or otherwise, use L3 and R3?

L3 and R3 are digital inputs, just wire them to a button like any other action button.

Not sure what you mean by

So I’m not sure how to fully answer your question.

A handful of fighting games use L3 and R3 for recording functions in training mode. I cant think of any that actually require them.

Just re-read this several times

I get it now. Trust me, you can just say 3 pos switch and we will understand what you need.

There are many electronics stores that have rocker switches with a neutrik form factor. They will fit in any 24mm hole.

Allfightsticks.com used to sell them separately, not sure if they still do.

Okay. First. Thanks.

Second, I assume you can wire the L3 and R3 of a Wii Classic controller Pro, (the original has trigger problems worse than the old pad hack analog/digital conversion tech) but Stan and I have to figure out how to wire the LS and RS to our joystick if it’s not part of a multi-consoke fight-specific board.

Third, my wires inside are spaghetti because Stan wired it one way when he misunderstood mez and did something weird to correct it. If it’s cheaper to hire a rewirer locally and save on shipping, since the joystick is just buttons and sticks to db37s, I could clear the clutter and make the guts look cleaner, and add the LS, RS, the Switch capture button, and the 3 way selector switch.

Fourth, do the multi console boards need wiring to the 8 Cardinals of LS and RS, or is that built into the fight PCBs?

Fifth, how complex is the 3 way in wiring? Is it just wiring one common part to 3 ends, or is it branching each cardinal direction 3 ways, or branching each stick option 4 ways?

Lastly, U understand the 3 way is supposed to make it either/or. But is independent hookup of all 3 sticks possible? I think a “Double Coleco super action controller without keypads”, ie. a digital twin stick with 4 buttons on the shaft, labeled I M R P for the 4 fingers, and each thumb having either a hat switch or full analog pad.

That would have came in handy in Pac Man World 3 where you have to turn the camera fast and often to do well.

I’m sorry, when pressing the magnifying glass (I assume the symbol for search) the way it works on my Android Motorola Moto G7 is the last topic pops up as soon as I touch the text bar in the search. So if I were to type “LS RS” I touch the keyword. Then the post comes up.

I was told before it was better to start a new thread vs resurrecting an old threat. Now I’m getting contradictory advice.

I thought this topic has this wrinkle to make it a separate topic : that I have no idea how to solder or read diagramd. And my hired friend only does what I tell him to.

So being a shop noob. I have no idea if my guy can do it. He doesn’t know how to turn authorized third party Xbox 360 triggers into digital inputs. I asked him if him learning analog digital conversions would cost me more than the difference between a Wii Classic Controller Standard version vs Pro Version. ($10 difference when comparing Official Nintendo Wii). He said it would cost WAY more.
