Nuki, MOV, Boss, Riki, K.O., and some others I’m sure you could name are the ‘best players’ in Japan but there are no clear dominators as far as competitions go right?

Daigo , Tokido … couldn’t strike every team from last chance to semi final in a Tougeki with Q . Because of tier whore shit & stuff .
Well, if 3S was the only fighting game to ever exist, then maybe. There are plenty of other great 3S players in Japan.
Best player in fighting games overall? I don’t think that title belongs to anyone. There are too many people that are great at the game they specialize in.
All of that stuff is pretty much true, but I don’t think those facts are the best argument for Lemieux. IMO, that would be footage showing just how much better physically and executionally (?) he was than everybody else. That said, Gretzky was also much more than just stats… Yes, he shattered (and that word gets tossed around, but he shattered the FUCK out of them) every offensive record, but he was also skating circles around people and taking offensive creativity to a whole new level.
In the end, I can never really decide, which is why I’m playing devil’s advocate haha
Back on the subject, has Tokido ever been better than Daigo at any game they both took seriously? Maybe he has, but it’d be news to me. 3S will probably come up, but Tokido played that a lot longer. And he mains Chun.
Kuroda has a very skilled 3S background. He is the most impressive and to me he is the best in 3S. What he is able to achieve with other characters is really next level that we have not seen many other players do without grinding for years. However, I do not discredit MOV, KO, Boss, Nuki etc. because they are really some of the most consistent players to play 3S. When I think SF4 or ST I think Daigo but when it comes to 3S I think Kuroda. They tend to have something next level even if it’s not 100% consistent. It really is the way they play the game.

Daigo, Nuki or Tokido in terms of tournaments. Even if you base the results on EVO tournaments alone, these names (+ JWong) come out on top.
Many top 2D players respect Daigo in terms of skill.

I once read a story that Tokido had LOADS of hours on his Tekken card.
Tokido is quite good, but his knowledge on Tekken characters is very minimal and he uses Bob next to that aswell.

That SF4 kumite that just recently happened (vids on Youtube) was a freaking clniic… Anyone who hasn’t seen it, even if you hate SF4 you should check out Sako Cammy vs Ken, just posted a few days ago. In the second round, Sako is 100% on something like eight one-frame links and five two-frame links. And he doesn’t take his gaming/training nearly as seriously as the guys who have been mentioned… from what I understand, he merely fucks around online and in training mode very sparingly (by hardcore gamer standards). He doesn’t live in Tokyo (and is like 36 years-old and married), so he doesn’t get out to events nearly as much as the aforementioned, but when he does make an appearance, it’s memorable.
I caught the end of Wednesday Night Fights recently and Valle was in grand finals (don’t remember if he won or not), and I was thinking how amazing it is that he was #1 in America fifteen years and even though he has a job and organizes tournaments and everything, he’s still regularly winning the most competitive local tournaments in America, and he even gave Daigo a run for his money on the big stage at Evo last year. What a fucking badass.
