Kuroda best player in FG history?

Daigo seems like he’s been really good at a lot of different games

has he achieved the same level of excellence that Kuroda has in 3s or Justin Wong has in MvC2? genuinely curious.

Kuroda is the best 3S player there is and will ever be.

Justin Wong is the best MVC2 player there is and will ever be.

Bas (debatedly) is the best CVS2 player there is and will ever be.

Now… best player in FG history? You just can’t answer…

3S : Kuroda
ST : Daigo
MvC : Wong

…DNADER

Tokido, Justin Wong & Ryan Hart.

Nah I’m trolling, it’s Kusoru.

Who the fuck is Diago?

For non-Capcom games:

  • Guilty Gear: Ogawa or Kazunoko. Can’t choose!
  • KoF '98: Xiao Hai

Pretty curious about D44/BAS while I didn’t play much CvS2 and that game was dead pretty soon even in Japan (appeared in Tougeki for first 2 years then never returned).

If there’s anyone can be comparable to what Kuroda does in 3S, I’d say Xiao Hai is the shit. He alone destroyed team Japan in China vs Japan KoF’98 war then later took 1st place at Tougeki.

Fuck Ogawa’s Eddie. Fuck em.

Thing is that Daigo is only gdlk in one game. Everything else he’s middle of the road in terms of skill except maybe CVS2 but he hasn’t played that in forever. Tokido consistently destroys in every game he plays.

a lot of players will remain forever in obscurity if you count arcades of mid-80s, early 90s, before tournaments were popular

Doesn’t Kuroda lose to Nuki, KO, and MOV?

Kuroda is definitively on of the best but the greatest is…nah. I think Daigo is the best if not the most popular.

I am not sure that Daigo has ever focused so hard on any one game for as long as Kuroda/Justin ate and breathed 3S/Marvel. Also, two of his most beloved games (he’s said the SF2 series is his “favorite” and that the SF4 series has been important to him because of the growth of the FGC and the exposure, money, etc.) have also been two of the most hotly contested games by measure of the sheer number of devoted competitors all over the world, making it harder for him to stand out as the undisputed king (he’s a legendary ST player, for example, but he was also like eleven years old when it came out).

That said, his run in SF4 so far has been pretty absurd… he hasn’t made as much noise since Evo last year, but from 2008 until Evo last year, it was pretty much a reign of terror. What really makes it crazy is that SF4 was the game throughout that time period, having pushed the much older games to the side and lacking Marvel 3 and SFXShitty (lol jk) to thin the competition. He was #1 in BP with Ryu in Japan arcades for a long time, he traveled to many many international tournaments and won almost all of them (even though he hates traveling), including going all the way through to grand finals in winners in 1000 and 1800 man brackets at Evo 2009 and 2010 and winning both… then when AE came out he was #1 in BP again with Yun and did very well in tournaments aside from finals day at Evo last year (if you haven’t seen it, check out the finals of the Topanga charity tournament… I won’t spoil it but I stayed up until 6 AM to watch it and it was pretty intense).

I know he was incredible at the Alpha series (won the huge Japanese national tourney to come face Valle in that famous first meeting) and Vampire Savior and probably some other games I’m forgetting or don’t know about, but whether he was a “transcendent player” in those games I do not know to be honest.

Kuroda is the most impressive to me. I would rank him #1 at 3rd strike. 3rd Strike is the best game. Therefore, Kuroda is #1.

Umehara is a scrub.

best player by far

Diago Umejuarez < Best KOF player on the planet.
Nuki and Kuroda are both amazing in my eyes. Haven’t seen Nuki play anyone other than Chun but the way he dominates is silly… Also, I gotta mention Mimora. Considering Mak is the highest risk of the top characters, he plays very intelligently and opens up some of the best 3S players.

Some french player from what I hear

… yeah … was a spelling error : (

lol umejuarez.

Nuki has a very very very strong Ken and his Ryu is pretty good too, his Makoto however is…

umehara sucks at cvs2 though…

i think he’s a top 10 player in ST, with the 2nd best ryu (after ShootingD). it’s hard to have a clear cut best player in that game… but ume has a pretty good guile and boxer also.

i think arguably he was the best vampire and zero 3 player.

aside from that, lemieux was a better player than gretzky. gretzky had a much much much better supporting cast for basically his whole career, and lemieux battled through many many many injuries; lemieux played ~500 games less than gretzky. sure gretzky has the records, yet they still get mentioned in the same breath.

Its got to be Wong or Tokido. They can win the tournaments that everyone is grinding and has loads of entrants like UMvC3 and SFIV, but will also win the lesser games like Tekken and Blazblu.

Tokido for example is in the ST legends tournament, but will also prob place top 8 in many of the main games. If Wong starts practicing a game, he’s gonna start placing and winning.

For the future prob Chris G, he has gone to majors and won the majority of the games consistently.
