Krylon Fusion VS Vinyl dye?

I have heard a few mixed reviews from people on these two options. I read a page that may have been a sticky, but the author appeared to be very biased against Krylon Fusion as he seemed to have ran the base coat creating some unsightly drips.

I was just curious if I can get some input from people about the two. I’m sure the dye is probably MORE durable, but does the plastic maintain it’s shine on the outer bezel? Does the fusion eventually wear or flake?

What say you?!

Does anyone know where orange Vinyl die can be purchased? I found the Kyrlon Fusion but exhausted all my local options looking for the dye. I was going to paint some nerf footballs as a test and report the results.

As usual guys thanks for you time and input.

I think Vinyl Dye is so fool proof that it’s the preferred method

Yeah, I had never had any problems with vinyl dye, and I’ve used it on 3 SE shells, plus a mask. I heard way too many nightmare stories about Krylon Fusion to even want to touch that stuff, whereas the majority of vinyl dye users say the same thing, “Follow the can directions, and it turns out perfect.”

I’ve heard bad things about Krylon and nothing but good about vinyl dye. Apparently, it takes a lot to screw up a vinyl dye job.

Unfortunatly I still haven’t made a final decision, looks like I’ll be going with DupliColor’s Vinyl & Fabric Coating but I’m looking to color some stripes as opposed to a solid color . With Vinyl Dye seeping into the plastic itself I dont know if masking off areas would suffice or if it’ll seep under the masking tape
