Hey all - haven’t been around for a bit. Girlfriend’s out of town for the weekend so I was toying with the idea of having some SRK’ers over for some games tomorrow (Sunday the 28th). I’ve been to Cafe ID a couple of times but it’s hard to get steady games in there sometimes. I’m near Suyu St. (north on line 4) so it’ll be a little far for some of you but it’s pretty quick on the subway.
I’ve got a PC SSFIVAE setup, an xbox360 with SSFIVAE, UMVC3, SFxT, and if we have enough sticks even a PS3 with VF5 on a little CRT. I’ve got 2 xbox sticks (one of which also works on the PC) so if people could bring sticks to complete the setup it’d be great. If needed I can even download SSFIV on the PS3 so we could potentially have 6 people playing at the same time.
I’ll check back in here to gauge interest - if people are interested awesome, if not hopefully we can try to do it sometime in the future.
Also - any and all are welcome, we had a quick meetup with andeRK83, eoneo, Laugh, and Spidertao a few years ago, so hopefully anyone hungry for some games can make it out.
That is exciting, too bad I probably read this a bit late. I have been away from fighting games for a little bit since I came back to Korea, but I have been feeling the Itch to play more again. I am living in Nowon and am willing to meetup/host, especially if its in Suyu. Super close! lol.
Hey Tom, great to hear you’re in Nowon, maybe we can get a regular north-side meetup going. Probably posted the above too late as nobody checks here daily but I heard from one other person by phone so I’ll try to set something up with way more notice for the next time. Tom - I have another buddy stopping by today who’s mostly a VF5 player but we’ll be hanging our anyways so if you want to stop by and get some games in let me know.
It’s definitely do-able. From either airport, you can take a train to Hongik University [30-40 minutes] and walk from there [about 10 minutes]. The only iffy thing is if anyone will be there, considering it being a Tuesday, but that all depends on what you play and what time you’ll be in Korea. Hope this helps!
Hey Willy that sounds good. Unfortunately I can’t make it today, but I am definitely on board with and excited about some north-side meet ups. Also, I am only working half days this week so if you have any interest in getting some games in at some point during the week let me know 010-7265-0326.
Andrew - sent you a msg but you might’ve changed your number. Didn’t end up doing it this time but had some interest so hopefully we can get a day going soon.
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting US games in Korea? With Persona 4 Arena coming out soon, I want to get it as soon as possible. I ordered off play-asia, but it seems it will still be delay before I receive it. I can always cancel the preorder if there’s a more speedy option.
If you are in Seoul there is a US Game Express out at Bosan station (line 1) where I go because it isn’t too far from me, and I brought my 360 from the states. Otherwise the electronics market at Yongsan station (also line 1, near Seoul station) is probably your best bet. http://www.facebook.com/pages/US-Game-Express/193035350733946 that is the Facebook page for Us Game Express, and the guy there is really nice and speaks good English. I have called ahead several times to see if they had what I was looking for.
Not sure about that. You might try calling the US Game Express and ask them. Yongsan might be more difficult, they haven’t spoken much English the few times I’ve been there.
what game are you trying to get? when i was living in gongju (25 mins from daejeon) i found a nice little gaming shop there, so i’m positive you can find what you need in daejeon.
as long as you know the name of the game, you should be able to find it in yongsan…there’s also an electronics mart near the nambu bus terminal that has a pretty good selection of stuff.
@tom janes, you live in suyu? i used to be up near 수유시장 all the time!
I went by Isu last night and one side of the cab was out. Played twice until I realized it, derp. Also, Missing Person your the man for making those how to get there videos thanks for those.
No prob. One thing I wanted to do was hit up all the major places where people were playing and get direction videos made for each of them. Couldn’t do that, but Isu and Cheonho are pretty important, and both of them were confusing when I first went to them, I didn’t want anyone else getting turned around going there.
After I lived at Isu for two months, yeah it got easier. I pretty much knew the entire area immediately surrounding Isu station. Great place.
